Gambit Prime is in a pretty rough spot right now.

There are 2 Big problems with Gambit prime right now: Comeback potential, and the Gambut Prime armor sets. The Gambit prime armor sets aren't fun to fight against if you dont have a full set yourself. Reckoning is horribly dull and impossible to complete at times without a Well of Radiance. Not to mention getting the synths is not easy. Secondly, Gambit Prime just has no comeback potential. In the Babking phase, whoever's invades first and gets kills, wins. Plain and simple. The invader becomes a constant threat with wallhacks, while his team can put down more blockers and drain motes, denying the enemy team any chance to comeback. It's way too easy to snowball in prime, and one of the many reasons regular Gambit is much more enjoyable.

  • Gambit is just shit. Do yourself a favor and don't participate. As a random I win half the time, but I'm constantly doing most of the work and going after invaders while everyone else hides. I grinded last season for Breakneck and it's just total dogshit. I'm not doing it again for a bow with bad perks.

  •
The Gambit prime armor sets aren't fun to fight against if you dont have a full set yourself.
Why dont you have a full set by now? 13-14 weeks into Prime armor availability?
Reckoning is horribly dull and impossible to complete at times without a Well of Radiance.
Yeah, well is handy, but so is bubble with helm of saint 14. Maybe wait for the heavy weight modifier to make things easier? Wait until you are 750 to make it easier.
Not to mention getting the synths is not easy.
In prime, synths can be hard to get if you dont know how to get them. There are certain requirements for them to drop in Prime. Drifter has daily bounties where you can get more and they are pretty easy. I've got like 20-80 of each.
Secondly, Gambit Prime just has no comeback potential.
Its all about DPS, when you run in a full team, its not hard to come back. Especially if you have the right parts for good DPS and strategy. Like, dont kill the third envoy until you kill the invader (communicate to find the invader) so you can put in a full round of damage. Do you watch videos on how to improve as a Prime player?

  • Really? I found it pretty easy to get a full set of all armors... prime is really fun - you just need to play it more than you do. I have to delete synths all the time now!

  • Yeah, neither is all that fun. When I realized the drops were few and far in between, I decided to just avoid those activities. If I'm not having fun, the rewards are nothing in the face of what will just feel like a punishment, and then what's the point? I think last time I did Reckoning was second week of last season, didn't even bother with GP after the first week. The rewards aren't worth the annoyance, personally. I have better things to do than waste 15-30 minutes at a time for three -blam!-ing shards.

  • The people in regular gambit make me question whether they're breathing or not.

  • Actually it is doable without well. Did it recently. Bubble titan, Orpheus, blade barrage for clearing adds. Works very well. Yw

    • Before I quit playing, I played about 200 Prime matches. While not huge number by any means, I think it is statistically significant to accumulate some statistics. "Invade first" usually means serious advantage, it does not guarantees victory. I've been on both sides of this equation (meaning catching up and winning, or enemy closed the gap and we lost), and only once I do suspect foul play on bungee end, because primeval was way too strong in comparison with any other similar ones. If your team is not chewing glue, having opponents summoned primeval may be in fact easier, because they won't invade any more. So if your invader is at least decent (I don't mean even good), you'll be able to quickly close the gap and win. Because all you need is 2x stack. My biggest gripe (other than horrendous loot drop that made me quit playing) is discrepancy between sets. Collector is useful as teats on a boar during primeval phase, playing as one in team of random is awful experience, because few people pay attention to let you do your job (Giant blocker by no means unstoppable, but it helps to send it first). Sentry can't override Invader's bank lock and his "spotter" mark quickly disappear. Reckoning is... Reckoning, I played before nerf, and as titan main no run was an easy job (minus those during Revelry - they were fun). In fact, it took me 35 runs alone to get my first and only Notorious Reaper's chest piece. :D Speaking about "dull". Oh, and by my experience not having a set of armour is fine. It helps, surely, but I earned a lot of Massacre&Locksmith medals with relevant curated weapons without it. Having Collector suit and doing the triumph didn't helped me to get Spare Rations, lol. :D So don't worry too much, just learn your guns, learn your enemies, learn maps, and do your job the best way you can. Win some, lose some. I have overall 47% wins, mostly played with randoms at course of 650 matches overall. So don't give up early on.

    • You need yourself a good Sentry. Such an underrated role. A quality Sentry is the very definition of a team player. Just watch their name at the bottom of the results screen. A thankless job, yet the most important role on the team. If your Sentry can keep your bank clear and wipe the Invader off the face of Emerald Coast, you are guaranteed the win.

      • I enjoy Gambit, but never kept any of the prime armor. Didn't like the look, and would immediately dismantle. Realize that this didn't help my ability. Maybe next time Bungie will consider some alternatives.

      • I think the season ending just exacerbated everything. I almost never quit matches unless it's just out of control for one reason or another (2 have already quit and not been replaced, teammates going out of their way to screw you by not revving / attacking an invader with 15 motes / etc.). Let's just say I've finally figured out how many times you can quit before being suspended. Not proud, but I don't play long enough to have the patience for stuff like that. Honestly otherwise though I think the mechanics are fine. The problem lies with matchmaking. I'm not sure if it does any to be honest, but there definitely needs to be more.

      • Yeah I just don't agree with this, invaders are your number one way to get back into the game. Collectors and reapers are all about that constant sprint from start to finish, and sentries are your safeguard from any speed bumps the other team sends your way. If you dont have any prime sets that's your own fault, you guys had all last season to get sets as there was plenty of people queuing up for reckoning. If you failed a few times and gave up, that's on you. I grinded enhanced perk versions of each set with randoms every time so you'll get no sympathy from me. My guess is the people that complain about not having the gambit stuff are the same ones that posted they wouldn't be playing that season as "there's no content for me".
