There really truly needs bad luck protection in this game

I got insanely lucky and got 1k voices on my first run. Not a flex, just saying i got lucky. That being said, i havent pulled an exotic, not even a regular exotic, from a raid since then. This is utterly ridiculous. I raid every week multiples times a week. My clan mates raid every week multiple times a week. Why is it that there are people in my clan, who have done both scourge and LW and levi more then I, who still don't have 1k the anarchy or even the sparrow from scourge regardless of running 3 times a week since release of each. This is utterly unacceptable at this point in time in a game like this. Bad luck protection needs to be included into the game to make players feel like theyre actually progressing in raids. Like one of my clannies, you could do LW every week 3 times a week since release and still not have 1k. One big reason why a huge majority of the players don't raid is simply this fact. WoW has Bad luck Protection installed once people started complaining enough about not being able to progress or even feel like they have a chance to get better gear because of bad luck which happens. Nothing should feel so out of reach to every simply because of RNG not being in their favor ever. People aren't asking to have things literally handed to them. Theyre asking to feel like they even have a chance after 100+ runs. I know Im not the first to complain about this and I definitely wont be the last. I legit have a clan member who gets on, does 3 riven runs and 3 scourge runs, then gets off for the week because he has literally nothing else to do except slam his head into this wall that honestly doesn't look like he'll ever get it due to this crappy RNG. Hes openly stated to us hes thinking of quitting because of it. This isn't even his fault. He just has bad luck. This is how you get people to leave the game. Bad luck Protection needs to be implemented. Bungie, you have gloriously pissed off your players recently. You owe us something.

  • No Exotics for a while, You call that bad luck? I got an Iron Banner sniper riffle with Hip-Fire Grip...[b]THREE TIMES[/b] Or try this: Did riven and queens walk with all 3 characters, one key and one chest each. All 3 gave me a class item. I agree 100% that something should be done.

    • So I finally got a chance to do a raid last night, well part of one, we didn't finish. Only drop I got was Apex Predator x3, with crap rolls, no other weapon.

          • I like grind. RNG grind is good to an extent. Endgame can take grind too far. That being said, Exotics should never be relegated to RNG. They deserve quests to ensure everyone can get them in the timely manner they so choose. Raid weapons and armor are already randomly rolled, so it makes no sense to make raid Exotics RNG. It's an insult to a player's time.

          • In the past week, I've gotten like 2-3 exotics a day on my warlock. The last exotic I need is the Escape Artist. Guess what I haven't gotten...🤦...and 7 of the exotics were helmets with shitty rolls.

          • Xur a while back offered the Ophidia Spathe for 23 shards. I already have the Ophidia Spathe, and my roll was better. So I did not want. Instead I spent 97 shards on a Isochronal Engram to get an exotic I did not already have. It gave me the Ophidia Spathe. With a worse roll than the one Xur was selling...for 23 shards...

          • The lack of BLP (actually didnt know it was called this but i like it) is part of the reason i left or am taking a long break. Its also the primary reason i dont run Raids cuz to waste that much time on such low odds.. . The fact that theres a mix of bad RNG and Timegates to raids is a major turnoff to me. Imo, every game that has rng for loot should always consider using a method to protect against those who get the shit end of the stick on the RNG bell curve. Plain and simple. And it needs to be reasonable. The fact someone STILL does not have a certain exotic after all these months of playing is bogus and i feel for your clan mate.

          • I've noticed when i get bored of D2, take a break for a few weeks or month or three, when I come back I consistently get an exotic within 1-2 days its been so consistent that I believe it is programmed to do so

              • Remember when Bungie said they added Duplicate protection, yet for some reason since about a week or two, Y1 exotics are dropping like candy again?

                • I got 1k 2 times in three runs and still get exotics in raids. Drop rate is working as intended.

                  • There's a reason I don't bother with that PoS uninspired horde mode, Reckoning. It's nothing but a pain the ass with next to nothing but some shards more times than not for rewards. Why would I waste my time on that boring nonsense when I could do literally anything else I actually enjoy? Hell, it took me 20 runs just to get a class item. Screw that noise, mate. If I could refund the AP, I would. Once Season of Flatulence is over, I'm moving on like I did shortly after Taken King, except permanently this time. Their arrogance, willing ignorance, and continuing refusal to actually learn something in well over four years are things I no will no longer tolerate. The game was nothing more than a fun time waster to pass the wait for better games, and they ruined even that for me.

                  • There does need to be some RNG protection on powerful rewards, one week I got four sets of boots all the same power level. Essentially wasting four of the powerful rewards.

                    Try running through 700 stems on Mars and STILL not gotten 18 Kelvins for the wayfarer title! I've given up on it. Its bull that it was rng to begin with. It's all I need for the damn title! Been trying since it launched. (Should say though I got 1k voices after 3 runs and Anarchy after 2 runs. Sorry)

                    • the kings fall raid had already fixed this issue to a degree, when completing other encounters in the raid it would at least drop an item (i unfortunately forgot what it was called) but it would increase your odds of getting something better out of the encounter against oryx at the end. I have no idea why they would not want to bring that mechanic forward to all raids cause everyone I played it with praised it for being a great addition to the raid mechanics/drop table.

                        There already is bad luck protection. Each time you play the raid and don't get the exotic drop, your chances of getting one next time go up. Edit: For those of you who don't know, Bungie brought out an update a while back that added this. I haven't been able to find the patch notes because Bungie doesn't keep them very organized. If I find them, I will make sure to post them here.

                        • I don’t really know about “bad luck protection”, I would just prefer the rng to be equally balanced. If I’m getting screwed on god rolls and exotics, I prefer everyone else to be experiencing the same difficulty. What do I mean by “equally balanced”? Isn’t the rng droprate equally balanced among players? Hah, actually no it is not... I’ve been keeping tabs on the community reports of droprates for certain items in the destiny universe for a few years now. It seems as if each item in the game has in internal value attached to it. I’m talking armor pieces, weapons, PERK COMBINATIONS, exotics, etc... And certain players have the odds of achieving these items better than others. In a very loose study by many in the community, it appears as if players who have either lapses in their playing time, or are just getting started with the game have a MUCH higher chance of obtaining “highly sought after” items in the game, be it an exotic or a god roll or certain armor pieces. Therefore, it appears that bungie has an internal system that “bumps” the rng for players who rarely play the game, if at all. Why is this? Well I can see a couple of reasons. I’m assuming part of it is to catch them up to the rest of players, and give them a slight leg up in order to get into (or back into) the game. The other reason I can come up with is simply to win players over who aren’t quite sold on the franchise. If they shower a noob or a player who only comes back once every season with the best loot in the game, maybe they’ll be convinced to become an every day dedicated player and spend more money and more time on the game.

                          It's pretty easy. Bungie could just keep the RNG unchanged for the raid end loot. Just make the 1k / anarachy available for purchase at Petra / Ada1 with an unlock condition of 50 clears of LW / SOTP. JUST LIKE WHAT Benedict 99-40 IS ALREADY DOING NOW. I don't mind even Bungie set a limitation on the clear count increment, say +3 at most per week, so as to prevent anyone from completing grinding within a short period. They could also let Petra / Ada1 say something like "You've proven you're worthy" when you unlock it after 50 raid clears without the exotic dropped, make it sounds more like a tragic but still heroic story. I think the difficulty is never on technical level. Only on Bungie's attitude.

                          • This is such a tricky subject. They could make everything drop easier, but then there would be an uproar about how there's nothing to do and the game is boring, etc. On the other hand, you can feasibly run LW 100 times and never get 1K Voices. My thought is, for stuff that requires some sort of specific completion like raids, have the drop rate be super low, like 5% and go up by just 1% each completion. That way, my next run I'd have a 47% chance of 1K dropping. I'd feel much better about running it again if the odds didn't feel insurmountable. For the poor guys trying to get 21 Kelvin and such, I'm not sure I'd love a knockout system (again, no grind) but if each time you got a weapon the chances of getting it again dropped by say, 5%, you would eventually get what you've been fighting so hard for. Those are my basic thoughts anyhow.

                            • RNG is a shit reward system. You wouldnt go work a job for a week and hope for a paycheck would you? you wouldnt, so why spend hours and hours performing a task to not get the desired reward.

                              I spent a 3 months grinding when forsaken came to and didn't get one forsaken exotic. Slowly I stopped playing less and even still the exotics I was getting were all duplicates. Nothing could bring me back. Up until xur started selling year 2 exotic I only acquired 2 forsaken exotics in about 6 months time

                            • Exactly why I wouldnt raid even if I had a team for it...because I dont want to spend my effort on a challenge that has no guarantee of a reward...and for power level, it's not even necessary, so I'm just kind of wondering why anyone raids. Just sit em out and have fun doing destiny stuff. Let the streamers play glorified Mario brothers, platforming and then gimmick killing the boss...yup. mario
