I understand that you want to stop this monstrocity called abortion, really I do, but we can't just straight up outlaw it with no other thought as the ramifications to it. Specifically, we need to address the enormous elephant in the room surrounding this issue, and if we solve it, we will get more Pro-choice people onto our side AND be fixing another glaring issue that I think we can all agree on:
Fixing the Broken Foster care system.
If we do this, it will do the following:
Make the "We will bring them into a terrible world!" argument irrelevant.
Fixing an issue that I'm pretty sure we can ALL agree is -blam!-ed up atm
Get more moderates and Pro-choice people onto our side by the prior statements
Get us on the road to making abortion illegal, or at least make people more educated and have a bit more empathy towards the literal MILLIONS (https://www.worldometers.info/abortions/) of children slaughtered in the name of "I'm not ready!"
Sorry if I sound more politically agressive than usual. Abortion is one of the few issues, if not the only issue, that I'm not willing to see both sides of.
Edit: I have an announcement: I am now Pro-choice for the sole reason of killing Fortnite.

As are all the arguments for and against. The fact is you don’t get to decide, I don’t get to decide, the government doesn’t get to decide and the church doesn’t get to decide. The only person than gets to make that choice is the women. You are welcome to express a moral opinion about her decision. But you are not entitled to make that decision for her. You are not entitled to make moral choices on her behalf.
This horse has been well and truly flogged.
6 RespuestasEditado por TTT084: 5/7/2019 3:34:47 AMABORTION SHOULD BE THE LAST RESORT. NOT THE FIRST RESPONSE. I find it interesting that people just advocate for abortion rather than better contraception and sex Ed. We should all agree that the number of abortions is a little high. According abort73.com there were 879,000 abortions in the US. in 2017. Using these numbers we can calculate that at most 1,758,000 people are idiots. THAT NUMBER SHOULD BE LOWER. We should be working to regulate abortion and make almost certain that it is the absolute last resort.

Yea you make an excellent point! It's so sad to think they are doing it in the name of womens health, when they could be killing a girl. And my thoughts on it are, if they are in danger of dying, what parent would kill their own son\daughter to save their own skin?

4 Respuestas"Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Words by our founding fathers that have (generally) defined how we pass laws. How this relates to abortion? Liberty is defined as: "the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views". Now, how can a woman have her full liberty when she is TOLD what she can and cannot do with her body. By denying abortions, you are stripping these women of their individual liberty as well as the happiness and how they will live their life. You may argue that you are restricting the life of a human life by killing it. However, I would not define a fetus as a living human. In fact, they more closely resemble a parasite if anything. They are literally unable to live outside of the womb without their host, the mother. And, if this means nothing to you, then the life part of the preamble of the Constitution still does not apply to fetuses as they are not born. I would also reckon to say that you believe in the second amendment, or a variety or it like I do. Why would the liberty for you to own guns be more important than a woman's liberty to decide what to do with her body? If you must, look at Roe v Wade and the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Due Process Clause. Just as what happened with the 18th amendment and laws on drugs, outlawing abortion will still not accomplish anything. In fact, it will only encourage those who refused to give birth to get alley abortions. At least the women, who are already alive and feel pain, unlike fetuses as their nerves are not fully developed, can have safe abortions if abortions are legal. Clinical abortions are much safer and don't have a high chance of death for the already alive mother. If anything, at least accept the fact that aborting a child won't cause future tax increases so that's good. I understand and appreciate you trying to see both sides, but it simply isn't that easy. Women still deserve the rights to do what they want with their bodies.

33 RespuestasThis argument cracks me up. Always the deflection to foster care and education. It's really simple. Stop having children out of wedlock, stop having unprotected sex, and better yet, stop having sex until you're ready to handle the possibility of having a child.

3 RespuestasEditado por albinomachina: 5/6/2019 8:18:57 PMWhat if you're both? I'm pro choice, but my wife and I had to decide whether to have an abortion when our second daughter was diagnosed with Type 2 Osteogenesis Imperfecta before she was born. We knew if we decided to carry her full term, she would die shortly after being born. As parents, we couldn't choose to pay someone to murder our child, because that's what abortion is, you pay someone to kill your child. So, we let her be born and I had to watch her slowly die of suffocation while I held her in my arms. It was the most awful thing I've ever had to do in my life. But, it was our choice. Not some Christian hypocrite's. Ours. No one's belief system should be allowed to decide for me, my wife, or anyone else, what they want to do in those circumstances. Just because you, or anyone else, has read a book from a bunch of Bronze Age savages that have been dead for 2000 years doesn't give any of you the right to decide for me, or anyone else, what we do with our bodies or our pregnancies. If someone wants an abortion, that's their choice. Not yours. Not your preachers. Not Glen Beck's. Not Donald Trump's. Not Bryan Fisher's, or any other right wing politician. It's their choice. And if they choose to get one, it's on them. They're the ones that have to live with the guilt of knowing they had their child murdered.

6 RespuestasEditado por Farco69: 5/6/2019 6:03:39 PMA decision of that magnitude is personal. And that is why the opinions of others should have no impact on the process and outcome of such a decision. To try and make your input and opinion relevant to someone else's incredibly personal choices is ridiculous, and anyone who attempts to do so is a low rung human being in my book. In summary, mind your own business. Edit: just saw in another post that you are 16. You don't exactly have the worldly experience to judge anyone about anything nearing this level.

We oughta just treat abortion the way liberals treat the second amendment in places like New York or California. You can have an abortion but only after convincing the police you have "good cause", and after going through a waiting period, paying some extra taxes for no reason, and etc. And we should ban certain types of abortion for being too efficient. Nobody needs a high capacity assault-clinic.

You're better off discussing where life begins and attempting to change someone's mind on abortion with that than any other piece of this argument. The rest of the things that get brought up are just used as gotchas by either side and once they come up you can believe the argument is pointless from there on out. Either way, I'd be willing to be that almost nobody has been swayed by online arguments. I saw a video where a tiny number of people changed their mind after seeing a video of an abortion being performed, but that's rare. I don't have a firm stance either way on this topic other than it's something that the states should decide by vote.

Working retail I can tell you with how some people are, the whole "terrible world" thing will always stick with them. It most likely comes from the sensationalism that are the many apocalypses that we've had. But hey, to each their own I suppose
