I think they came out and addressed that it was not possible to make forges account based because of the Hybrid Engine Limitations. I hope they have another conference discussing the current status of the hybrid engine and if there are any plans of changing the engine to unreal engine 4.

What is this "hybrid engine" you are referring to? Destiny is developed with the "Tiger Engine", Bungies's own creation IIRC It is the networking that is hybrid P2P, but that is something completely different to the engine that creates the game itself
-
The videos are on youtube. They specifically say the tiger engine is now the hybrid engine. They are about 6 hours long if you want to check it out.
-
If you think about it they could set the parameter for accessing the forges and weapons as a triumph for completing the said forge quest line, not the quest itself. Since triumphs are account based it would theoretically work. Then again knowing how clunky bungie’s code is, it’d probably break 12 other things unintentionally
-
Editado por Oinkthebaconking: 4/22/2019 10:21:07 AMBull. They make the triumph for the Oxygen SR3 account wide. All pinnacle weapon quests have been account wide lately. I did all the precision kills and such on my Hunter, but my Warlock strikes are counting towards that triumph as well. The Crimson days bow was only available one per account, not per character. You can't have some things be account wide, and then say it isn't possible.
-
those are weapons...we are speaking about Forges witch are Activities. I think, correct me if I am wrong, the coding is different so the solution is not as simple as those account wide weapons. I am all for it but from what bungie has stated I don't think they can.
-
So they can’t do this for the forges, but they’re able to do this for the new raid that’s coming out? Which is clearly an activity. Of course they can, they just need to take that code and rework it so it applies to other activities too.

Editado por A Lion of Judah: 4/22/2019 2:17:07 PMUnfortunately alot of what bungie "cant do", isnt due to a lack of ability. They measure everything in profits nowadays, a very corporate culture. If what you are suggesting, merging forge unlocks, was profitable...it would be done yesterday. But a "crack team" of video game scientists have run the numbers and it would end up making them either less money, or the same ammount, which is not worth the effort. Bungie will not put effort into "fun" "QOL" "balance" "common sense appraoch" or "Destiny 2", unless it has a direct and calculable profit. Bungie no longer accepts the financial risk of making something like Halo, where it relied heavily on its actual gameplay for value, and copies sold, for profit. They will not, and have not in recent years, perform any maintenance or upgrade related activity unless it is to keep profits from dipping lower. It isnt the bungie of old who made things "just for SnGs" with a "highly anti-business attitude " They are bungie on capitalist steroids. You want combined achievements for forge unlocks? Prove to bungie how that will make them money.. And make sure to be direct, because any indirect effect is already to far sighted for these guys now. You have to remember, the devs we have at bungie are total newbs compared to the ones who left because of the corporatization of bungie. It's like teenagers getting their first car and it's a Ferrari...not gonna shift gears well...but it's not the cars fault.

While I do agree many companies have the approach, you've stated, to heart I do not think that is the case with bungie. This was the first Triple AAA game to come out and try a 10 year long plan. We all know the Lead Story Writer Left and most of what he created had to be scrapped from the game. Consequently, the game was to be chopped up and re-sold. to top it all of the Tiger engine was to old now so they had 3. options 1)Start from scratch(potentially lose what Made halo, halo, and Destiny, Destiny.(Gun feel) 2) Create a Hybrid engine to keep those features of the engine. 3) use another engine like UE4 as an example. they chose option 2. They also entered into a contract with Activision. This contract is the main reason we have Destiny 2 and D3 coming as Oppose to just Destiny. No doubt they were going for a Warframe Game style meaning they would just have kept adding to the game. I agree that currently they don't see any reason to invest anymore than needed in D2. Even if it were to make them more money Bungie would not waste resources on a game that won't be supported for too long anyway. the contract is over with activision and now bungie is an independent Franchise and adjusting(learning) as needed. While managing that they are also partners with NetEase and were given 1bil? to create a new IP. D2 besides the next season is at the bottom of their concerns. my bet is that they are still going to use the hybrid engine for D3 witch is why I would like an update on the engine's progress. I think, regardless if it is not bungie from the past, they see the value and time that has been put into creating a game of this stature. They won't abandoned this game. I just think they haven't had time to breathe. If they would just give us notice that they need time to go off the grid for a while(2 years?) to fix the game I think we would love that. Not sure if they'd ever consider. this game can generate money and bungie knows that. short term is good but Long term will net the most income. look at FFXIV for an example. yeah it is a subscription based game but Destiny has Micro-transactions and DLC's or Annual passes plus the other Goods from Bungie Rewards.
-
But about the warframe comment yes. It was supposed to be like that only AAA backed. So cleaner, crisper, faster. Now it's none of those and not as extensive as a result. I know long term is the best...like giving little fixes, transmog, adding story every weekly or monthly reset, doesnt make immediate money...but or keeps people around to desire cosmetics...boom...money. Much more from a good cosmetic store, on a game where effort and time equals good gameplay rewards. If people can enjoy playing for free...theyll pay for extras...always works. Perfect world knows all to well after PWI Neverwinter Jade Dynasties Etc... That micro transactions trump all other sources of income combined.. And neverwinter staff can pump put updates like a machine. Living off of microtransactions is the way to go.. Build a kick ass game people will meet friends in, and then, give them some kick ass cosmetics to show off.. I dont buy stuff regularly, But so many do that I usually play cool games for free, and when I can, I support the devs with a transaction, because I like the game, not because I want to unlock the full game.. The full game makes me spend money, not the promise of a full game and the purposeful failure to deliver it over and over.

You havent seen the documentary obviously. The original story writer was the founder of Bungie itself. He left because Activision came in and scrapped his story, and the original release. Then Halos sound guy...you know mega genius...left over discrepancies with activision. Then, alot of Halos A team left. The anti-corporatism that defined Bungie in the days of desert storm(I played it) and Halo(the world played it) is no longer part of their culture. It is rather obvious that the ones we have left are purely there to make a buck, not tell a story.
-
Total BS. It's just a matter of changing the code
-
lol...same thing with the hybrid engine....re-arranging code and creating new ones....very complex and very time consuming.
-
The current engine is shit I agree, and I don't think unreal engine 4 would cut it either though.
-
Editado por rainbows: 4/22/2019 10:45:53 AMHopefully it runs as well as DOOM. Looked so good even at 1080p. D2 runs pretty bad for me on PC, even dropping below 60 FPS briefly in some patrol areas. Annoying have to change the FPS cap to avoid screen tearing in certain areas or modes (whereas for strikes etc I can set the cap much higher). That said, I'm still getting used to this (expensive) age where CPU matters much more for FPS.
-
I wish there was cross save....I abandoned my xbox to go ps4 for D2(since our stuff got abandoned) Now I've seen the Graphics on PC and my GOD it is like an entire new game......FML
-
It is not in a great place. I'm hoping the development to the engine has made a Substantial amount of progress. I understnad why they want to keep the engine. I just want more info. Lol Like how bad is the fix time compared to before? Are we not receiving as many cuz of D3? Like that info from the engine would make things a bit clearer. And we would get a better understanding of How D3's development is going.
-
Hahaahhaha unreal engine 4. Destiny needs a new engine altogether. Something made from the ground up buddy. If they did that from the beginning we'd have a great game instead of mediocrity.
-
that would take a lot longer than what Bungie is currently doing. I just want an update to know how things are flowing now.
