• Borderlands is also a completely different game. It literally can't work with real PvP because of how it's designed, but, it still actually DOES have a way to challenge your buddies. They even have arenas to do it in.

  • "Shit their pants" is a figure of speech. "Everyone" is hyperbole. Borderlands 3 would sell more copies if there were pvp.

Anthem doesn't have pvp also, a game that is loot based too, look at the state of it now. Can't just sit on the success of borderlands while I can't just sit on the failure of anthem. Also the major difference is that Destiny already has an established pvp community while Borderlands didn't and that's not just something you can just ignore and abandon and pretend it never existed. I know this post will be down voted anyway, since this forum is particular #1 Toxic and #2 majority pve players. See the correlation on what I just wrote and this is what you'll see in D3 forums eventually.

  • This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read. Anthem didn't fail because it didn't have PvP. Why did it fail, you ask? Because it was released unfinished and full of game breaking bugs. And furthermore, did Anthem even really fail? So, you see, it looks to me like people really are hungry for a looter with no PvP. Might wanna come up with a better argument, pal.
This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read.
Of course it would be, because you assumed the message than actually took in what was actually said.
Anthem doesn't have pvp also, a game that is loot based too, look at the state of it now. Can't just sit on the success of borderlands while I can't just sit on the failure of anthem.
People bring up borderland success within its player base a game that doesn't have pvp, suggesting that Destiny could be the same. I bring up anthem as a similar concept that failed within its player base. In other words, it doesn't have to have or not have pvp to succeed as a franchise. Yes, the game failed, there is two margins of success: revenue success (it did well on that but it did went on sale in about a week? No confident business would put their product on sale so soon). Then the other means of success is the critical reception of the customers who buy the product, they simply did not deliver the product adequate enough. It's like with Titanfall 1, sold very well but was poorly received and then titanfall 2 came, a significant improvement but due to the poor reception of their first game, the sales went short. If they leave the game in its current (they wont) and bring out anthem 2, you think the sales would be as good as the first? I doubt it. Read what you see, not what you think you read.

  • I've said this on another post, but Borderlands did have a PVP element to it. You had to melee each other for a duel that was level and weapon based lol but It didn't have a "traditional" PVP element.

  • And who has ever played borderlands specifically for that feature? It could easily have never existed and it really would have made zero difference. Heck the fact that people don't even know or remember it was in the game kind of speaks volumes.

  • Oh im not saying anyone did. I just wanted to point out that it did have a PVP element to it. If it had never existed im sure no one would have cared.

There were nerf herders in Borderlands too. They got the 2 most popular "exotic" nerfed almost to the floor cuz they thought it was op af. FFS, its a loot game, not a pvp game! All those nerf herders need to shut up and go away and stop ruining the fun out of games. I understand if a gun like the Vex Mythoclast was super op and needed to be nerfed a bit. But nerfing another exotic that wasn't even comparably op as the pre-nerf Vex Mytho, that's going a bit too far with nerfing. Sorry was going a little too off-topic... but I had to say all these.

  • I mean... you're not wrong. But its definitely the same genre. Think about what Destiny could be with a 100% workforce focus on PvE. Think of the crazy builds and weapons. You would no longer have to worry about PvP balance. Oh, and more raids and even dungeons... hell, they could create a WoW style big team raid. 16 people maybe?

  • You're not gonna get a game that large. The time they would save not doing pvp doesn't equate to the amount of content you laid out.

  • I'm not saying all of it at once by any means. But even some of it would be nice. Honestly, my hope is that they keep PvP but somehow figure out how to fully separate the sandboxes... but I'm kinda beating a dead horse with that, ya know?

  • though i am excited to play borderlands 3 if its anything like the others the longevity of it will die quick because its mostly story based the endgame is just gun collection and single boss encounters except for digistruct needs more activities like destiny pvp gambit raids would add more fun to the game

That is entirely your opinion though. It is a looter shooter, so in reality for a lot of players the story actually isn't the main part of the game. It is a very nice part, but not the main part. There are tons of people to poor hours upon hours into grinding for those end game guns with perfect rolls. This may not be the case for you, but you can't really claim that it is a game mostly about the story as a general statement, because that is just plain false. For those that actually like looter shooter type games, borderlands has absolutely no use for things like PvP, and it would be far more likely to cause a ton of issues than anything. Similar to how trying to have both has made plenty of issues for destiny. It would also at least somewhat take away from the content which they are already very well known for, so that would also hurt them. If PvP is what you are looking for in a game, and what you find interesting, then the looter genre is not likely to have many games for you. Even games like Diablo do have a PvP but it is essentially worthless, they could probably take it out and only a handful of people would even bat an eye. Heck most don't even know that it has PvP.

  • that is true but all im saying is imo grinding for endgame guns and such just to grind guns faster really isnt appealing i necessarily dont need pvp added but something more than farming bosses over and over
