obviously one or the other side (science v religion) cannot be proven right, or everyone would believe in one thing, so why do we argue about it? How other people believe does not affect us most of the time, so unless it does, why do we care? Just respect everyone else’s beliefs. It’s not so difficult.
EDIT: can we please not argue about religion and science and stuff on a post about not arguing about religion and science and stuff? thanks

The way I see it, believe what you want as long as you're doing no harm. I don't really see the point in arguing about religion when neither side can be proven right or wrong. Just learn to set aside your differences in beliefs and most importantly, be good people.

1 RespuestaMy thing is better than your thing. Are any really better than the other? Maybe not, everything has it's ups and downs, but everyone wants their something to be the best.

5 RespuestasPeople do not want to admit to being wrong, but now imagine that you just raised your family in a set belief and now it is being challenged. Not to mention, while you might be inclined to listen, your Pastor/Preacher/Father/Deacon/etc says that even thinking about that will send you to hell. I don't give a tinker's damn what you believe, just be a good person and don't tell me that my way is wrong and yours is right, because your way might be right FOR you, but it isn't for me or I would have already been there with you.

Hatred of religion does not equal hatred of religious people. I have no problem with Catholics but i sure do question their support of the Catholic church. Christians too. Islam deserves a lot of the criticism it receives, but Muslims should not pay the price for others abuses of Islamic teachings.

68 RespuestasWhat I want to know is: why do (most) atheists get so defensive about the existence of God? To an atheist, God is just as fictitious as Santa Claus. Yet, they don’t go around contending against the existence of Santa Claus. The media could push Santa Claus all over movies and advertising and television etc, and atheists don’t even bat an eye. Their own children could be preaching the gospel of Santa Claus in their own household, and no big deal; they’d even play along or promote it. But as soon as God is mentioned or his existence, the Atheists begin their defense mechanisms, even though, to them, God is considered just as fictitious. 🐲 Hmm...

1 RespuestaHumans naturally separate themselves into groups. It is inevitable that members of these groups disagree and clash because of it. An "us vs them," if you will.

I believe both, as God is the creator of everything, including science.

4 RespuestasBut religion puts their beliefs onto others all the time. Most of which is unwanted. Then when you tell them that you're not interested they view you as the messed up one. I've even asked a few missionaries why go around disrupting people's lives in an attempt to convert them and the general consensus is, "it's god's will". Never seen or even heard of an atheist going around preaching atheism. People have to seek them out. Personally, I don't believe in any sort of religion and I don't consider myself atheist either. Both sides try way to hard just to make people believe in something. I grew up in a religion and found it be contradicting to how the world is and quite illogical. Atheists basically made it their point to go out of their way to disprove religion and tend to be very "in your face" about it. I don't like that. I'm not someone who's going to tell what people should or shouldn't believe. I don't care for either side and I don't want anyone trying to push their beliefs onto me.

17 RespuestasScience isn’t necessarily in conflict with religion. Many scientists are religious and many religious people accept science. The problem only really occurs with fundamentalist types who take the bible literally. They can’t accept it when science contradicts their personal beliefs (like evolution for example). Fact is people that believe in literal creationism (Adam and Eve) are actually in the minority in the U.S. Apparently only 38% of American Christians believe in biblical creationism. I’m sure the numbers are even lower in Europe. But creationists are the ones that make the most noise I guess. https://news.gallup.com/poll/210956/belief-creationist-view-humans-new-low.aspx

“Everyone” argues about religion (and the existence of God for that matter) because it holds such a big part in peoples lives. And if not everyone agrees on the specifics of a big part of their lives, they are going to argue about it maybe a teeny weeny little bit.

I think because more likely than not, It does affect you in the long run.

1 RespuestaOnly problem is that when there’s evidence against stuff (not pointing fingers at either side) people tend to ignore it because they don’t like it

I don’t argue anymore I’m militant agnostic, I dont know what’s up there and neither do you

Because given too much influence, religion can be extremely dangerous. Look no further than LGBT punishments in the Middle East, or Manifest Destiny. I’m not saying religion as a whole is bad, but when decisions & viewpoints are shaped by books which have little basis in reality & come from time periods where people had little understanding of the world, bad things are bound to happen.

Editado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 3/24/2019 7:17:34 PMIt’s an assertion concerning fundamental aspects of the nature of existence and much more often than not addresses our fear of death. People like and want the idea that something is watching out for us and the potential(and I’d argue very likely) non existence of death makes us uncomfortable. It’s also very hard to break free from being indoctrinated from a young age concerning many ideas, not just religious ones.

Believes in a higher being are not necessarily bad till people start to repute facts and saying crazy shit like the earth is only 5000 years old and other things that have been proven already to be false makes me group them in with flat earth people

7 RespuestasEditado por Tilman G: 3/23/2019 3:40:20 PMReally my only question is... Why are Atheists more religious in converting than most religions? To my knowledge Hindus Don’t even care what you think... most religions are like that.
side note if you don’t like the following then pretend I didn’t say it You technically can prove which side is right, since believing in science doesn’t mean you don’t believe in religion, you can believe both. Science is the study of natural things, therefore super natural things have nothing to do with science.(also as time goes on the evidence points more and more to a Creator)
