I mean they could made destiny 2 run on a different engine instead of using a modified destiny 1 engine ... that would make things much easier. They knew the engine was an issue and yet they didn't take the opportunity to make their own life easier.

Editado por GalaxySpider: 2/5/2019 1:08:16 PMBecause a new engine takes several years to make. Not to mention, after that you just stand there with an engine, not a full game based on it, which alone takes at least 2 or 3 years. Just look at Apex Legends. They used the Source Engine and a lot of assets from TF1 and TF2, yet it took them 2 years to make that game, a BR shooter. Bungie's Destiny is much more than that. It is a shared world shooter, has a combined PvE and PvP environment, Raids etc, tons of guns, lore, story etc. and all that takes time. So a new engine is not profitable. Keep in mind, it is Bungies ONLY game, not like Activision or EA who have tons of other games generating income while other franchises can be made/developed.
-
I agree with most of what you said except for one thing... its not profitable. Even the devs have said that the problem with the game is the engine... it waste time to process the changes applied to the game. Even tho it improved since destiny 1 its still slow. As they say time is money, and using that time to create new content will help them profit. I know in destiny 2 they were rushed by activision to fit a time frame of release but this is no longer the case so they can delay destiny 3. The live team can continue releasing content as we have now and maybe find another studio since VV are no longer in the picture after penumbra. I'm sure they have the money to do this as god know how much profit they did with this game.

Do you understand what it would take to develop a brand new engine? It would be a massive undertaking and would guarantee nothing. Even if it was more streamlined or performed better, you're talking probably a few years of development and then everyone starting from scratch learning to use it.
-
To be fair they could have used unreal engine yet they decided to make a clunky and slow engine. It will be a problem going forward especially with all the issues plaguing destiny now. D3 needs a new engine or they need to fix the one they have.
-
... are you kidding right now? Unreal engine isn't guaranteed to be any easier and there's no knowing if it could handle what Destiny is/does. Also licencing an engine is really experience. Destiny isn't -blam!-ing clunky either. It is hands down the best feeling shooter ever made, so yeah, pretty sure this engine is pretty damn good.
-
Editado por Ubisuccle: 2/5/2019 12:58:23 PMNever did i say Destiny was clunky, the development for it is. Why the -blam!- do you think it was in development hell for years. It wasn’t entirely the people working on it, it was the -blam!-ing engine. Its is the only logical explanation as to why 1) the game is poorly optimized when it comes to file size and 2) why we have such a small amount of meaningful content in the game. I love Destiny series. I have since the Alpha, but there are glaring issues that need to be addressed so that this game can succeed.

You actually don't know anything as to it's development. It's a game that was groundbreaking. Nothing like Destiny had ever been made before and no one has done it since. Blizzard tried making a similar game and it was in development for 7 years and got cancelled. You think this or any game is easy to make? You need a reality check.

Nice bait but go back under your bridge troll. Destiny was ambitious, however it wasn’t groundbreaking. They blended the looter shooter genera popularized by borderlands, the gunplay of call of duty, and many MMO aspects to create the game. The plans for the game began in 2010 and it was in development hell until late 2014 when it released and was bugged to high hell with barely any content to speak of. The budget was massive and that was squandered due to inefficient development. Now thats either due to the development software or incompetence however is suspect the former.
Nice bait but go back under your bridge troll.
Childish much?
Destiny was ambitious, however it wasn’t groundbreaking. Also, combining multiple genres into something that had never been done is the definition of groundbreaking.
The plans for the game began in 2010 and it was in development hell until late 2014 when it released and was bugged to high hell with barely any content to speak of.
This is an awful take. It was never in development hell. What the original vision was got shuttered and rebooted. It didn't "barely have any content" and it wasn't anything close to bugged to high hell. That genera has been done time and time again with the same formula. Halo was based on the arena shooter genera. If destiny has any similarity to halo it sure as shit isn’t gunplay.
If the game wasn’t bugged then explain why there was a -blam!-ing petting zoo of error codes in the first month after launch. Explain why crucible was battle of the laggers for the longest time. Explain why atheon and the templar could be pushed off the map using sunsinger. Explain why it was possible to cheese the entirety of crota’s end solo. You expect me to believe that these aren’t bugs or poor design decisions. Also yea the original port had sparse content. The story was meh at best and patrol sucked ass. The only saving grace was the raid and strike heroic playlist
And you're not anybody who's thoughts are relevant and you don't actually know anything
Like your thoughts matter either lmao

best feeling? Gears of War, Halo, and Titanfall would like a word with you
-
I'm sorry, but no.
-
No, they wouldn't. Don't be daft.
-
....*sighs* Destiny 1 and 2 does not have the best feeling gunplay , at least to me.
-
Okay well that's called an 'opinion'. Most people have them. And when a lot of people are in agreement it's a 'consensus'. As something like gunplay in a video game is a matter of opinion, the consensus is Destiny has the best gunplay. While not fact (as fact cannot be determined in this situation), it doesn't make your original statement any more ludicrous. And before you say something dumb, yes I've played all 3 of those games and the only one that comes close is Titanfall. But I spent most of that game using the Smartpistol, so maybe my opinion isn't the one people should be listening to.
-
So we stay with the same problems cos its too complicated? I mean they could have delayed Destiny 2 and continued to release dlcs while working on a new engine... If they don't do it, then we will continue facing the same issues over and over again.
-
I'm pretty sure neither of us knows what they could or couldn't do.
-
Now that they are an independent studio they need to consider these problem since people will no longer blame activision for any problem in the game but anything done after penumbra is straight out of bungie. Don't get me wrong I love this game and I wish that it continues to successes but seeing the same problem over and over again its annoying at this point after 4+ years.
