I’m probably gonna say this wrong but I hope I’m understood. The purpose for these difficult or odd quest steps is to shape the way you play and understand the weapon. For Luna’s/NF an absurd amount of headshots are needed to get the gun. For mountaintop, again a crazy amount of grenade launcher kills. Same with chaperone/ace/last word/malfeasance. If the steps are something a player can’t grasp and adapt with then the gun isn’t gonna fit their play style. It sucks for casuals and collectors and I empathize, truly. I’m just saying I’ve accepted this and do my best to get them all. Either pay for it, play for it, or move on man.

  • That is stupid you're saying either play the game or have someone played for you by paying them. You do realize some companies if you pay people to play the game for you they do ban your account. Example digital extremes their policy is they don't let you share accounts with other people. It's an instant termination of your account. also I'm not sure how you learn to use the last word means you have to do The crucible without dying... I swear your logic is so flawed. It's easy to use the last word it's just like using a hand cannon in a cowboy video game. The way the last word fires is the way cowboys used guns in the old west.... It's not that hard to learn that mechanic.

I’m saying get the gun or shut up. If the mechanic is easy then half the community has no thumbs. We are on the same side of an argument but you’ve had one too many energy drinks to process opinion, piss off mouthbreather

  • People like you shouldn't even be in this f****** community. That's how you talk to people they tell you something and you tell him to f*** off. Is that how your mommy and daddy treat each other? Seriously you should read what you said you said either play the game or pay someone to do it you said the word pay. It's common Sense most game companies if you share an account and you pay someone to play for you they will ban your account. It's just like using an expolit.. yet you wonder why people think top-tier PVP players are cheaters and hackers that's why most of them either cheat or they pay someone to play the game for them. That's what kids do.

  • You came at me calling me stupid and my logic was flawed with very little constructive criticism. Called me a name I called you one back. Go cry for another nerf. I don’t tolerate quick tempered attitudes on this app anymore. Hope you get the gun, if not I am very sawwy:(

  • This is actually really good, great post. I hadn’t ever really considered why some of these quest steps were so odd, just chalked it up to me not being good enough for whatever weapon it was, and I moved on. This, however, has me thinking.

  • Not for argument sake as of those guns listed I have only Ace and Malfeasance, therefore my experience is rather limited. I don't recall Ace of Spades required anything in crazy amount. 250 kills in strikes could be done either soloing some relaxed strike several times (I think 3 should suffice), or just casually playing them weekly. Most difficult step for me was obviously one requiring 25 head-shot kills in Crucible, because it was my first PvP in quick-paced games since Quake era. Not last Quake - first Quake. :) Most ironic part for me is that I've done this quest solely for memorial value. And now Ace gathers dust in the vault. Malfeasance is probably my most favourite quest of all. The only thing I did willingly for it is completed that nightfall-like mission Drifter gave. Excluding this step all I did was just playing the game as usual. And honestly, I think that's the way such quests should be done. Nothing too grindy (like those 40 matches for Breakneck (and like 95 for first Hazard of the Cast:D), nothing to boring (Sleeper nodes, I look at you!), just play the game and enjoy the process.

  • While I totally agree with "play the game" approach (when it's fun at least, as we all, sadly, know those particular games we're not going to play even if we get paid for it), there are certain issues that may be addressed. Probably should be. I already mentioned some of them, such as Sleeper nodes. I care little for Luna, have no idea how to get Chaperone, but I remember my work towards Breakneck. Should I know back then when I started what I know now, it'll be easier and more enjoyable journey, but I digress. Reading these very forums I see people telling of other gamers simply "passing" Gambit matches just to "tick" them towards the counter. I don't know how many matches those people decided to "pass", but I think in some cases it may be a sign that Breakneck travel is somewhat long. Maybe a little bit too long to be enjoyable. I guess should there be some incentive halfway, such as guaranteed curated Hazard of the Cast, that would work as "almost Breakneck" (or "broken Breakneck" without onslaught), it would be less frustrating. Because I'm past halfway towards second reset, and in total I got only four Hazards (two of them just recently). But got dozens of Trusts and Bad Omens (and even more of armour pieces). I understand random nature of loot drops, but my game clearly favours armour over guns and especially pots and gloves:). Despite playing for over 350 hours, there are still items from "random drops" that never dropped on me. :D So if Bungie could reduce duress, stress, and frustration from game, which is, by my opinion, entertainment (and thus should bring positive emotions) - I think we all going to benefit from it.

  • May I ask which game in particular caused that "cool down" effect on pre-orders? There are very few companies left whom I still trust to pre-order their games, but for vast majority - I'm no longer not just not pre-ordering, but even avoid being a day one buyer. As for Destiny, I don't mind to wait, there is a plenty of time and plenty of things to do. For example, only today I finally got Whisper and it was quite a challenge:).

  • There is a lot to do in destiny yes. But after D2’s release and Curse of Osiris I’ve began to be cautious in the way I preorder from Bungie. I’ll continue to play the game till it’s done. I’ve found waiting a couple days to know what I’m buying to be much better. Partial blame on their marketing strategy and the other part on my impulsiveness. Destiny is the only online multiplayer game I play so I understand why there is a nerf/buff war amongst the community and time gating keeps the player engaged, it’s just discouraging sometimes.

  • I wasn't here for Destiny 1, thus I'm not familiar with it on first-person basis. I've heard a lot of complains from my friends on both quality and amount of initial content or strange distribution model, which basically forced you to buy again what you already had, and so on, but they played it. Plus, as I watched other people playing it, I thought game is too fast for me, henceforth I decided to skip Destiny 2 when it was released. I have no idea how game looked upon release, as I jumped in only after free give-away. In fact, I liked gameplay so much, I bought annual pass and Forsaken. Speaking of modern situation with demo versions or, rather, lack thereof. Probably because some games looks like cashgrab, that's why they don't have demo or some sort of "free weekend". While I totally approve "wait and see" behaviour, there is one little problem - one related to opinions of other people. We have an awful lot of "influencers" of a sort: journalists, reviewers, blog(g)ers, streamers, youtubers - whom else I've forgot to mention? Even friends who played game are, to an extent, influencers. But the problem is - I have zero reference points with vast majority of those people. My friends, despite criticising Bungie/Activision, still bought everything they could and played the hell out of it. So, whom to listen? "Playing on Youtube" is counter-productive: it has spoilers and you're not playing yourself, thus heavily relying on player's experience. Record my footage in Crucible, how this will sell the game?:) Every official marketing material is what it is - marketing. And I think, due to lack of demo-versions, companies should offer some sort of "hand-on" experience for anyone interested. For instance, offer those who don't have annual pass participation in Forges. Say, you have a friend without pass, yet you have it, why not let you invite him to participate in one forging? It's much better, than buying "into the unknown" we all had to do now. I happened to like core gameplay loop, and while I do not like certain elements, I'm still playing. Even in Crucible, where I'm abysmal and probably among worst players ever. :D As for measures to extent player involvement into game, I think unlike "Korean RPG" known for their hideous grind model, this game suffers from unpredictability. Your friend may have ton of good loot at first attempt, and you're not, despite grinding out particular activity for weeks. If both of you required some initial "ploughing" and only then started to get your rewards - I'd understood. But currently it is very unpredictable. You could have everything "pinnacle" in a week and I couldn't get some basic items after months. Like I said elsewhere, I consider games to be entertainment. They should bring joy, not cause frustration and grief. Thus we need more positive feedback loops. And for now game has way too many disappointing moments most likely forcing people to say "blam it sideways, I'm not going to buy anything from them". As for me, I got anything from Mars I could minus Osprey. I still play EP, still "farm" those stems, though I don't need them anymore - I simply like being there. And I think that the way it should be - be entertaining. But that's me. Maybe some egg-head psychologists consider me an aberration. :)

  • I hear you, as far as D1 vanilla and D2 vanilla they are very similarly structured, as in lack of endgame & lack of reward. At some points it really felt like it was 2 steps forward 3 steps back. This is one reason why I find the new annual pass structure to be Bungies sweet spot if they can execute it properly. Rather than a “one and done” dlc, we are getting weekly updates with context in lore. It needs work but I have a feeling after September “the official Activision split” we will be playing a whole new model. As long as the game progresses positively I have no real issues with the rng and weapon quests. I have gotten so many exotics I have never touched that I realized that being a collector isn’t really my goal as a player. I like building my play style on a character and moving to the next. I have finally mastered the way I play as a hunter and am slowly working on a warlock and next a titan. High hopes for this game. Patients is a must.

  • Annual pass may pave a road to success, true, yet in same time it may lead to somewhat disastrous situation. I don't mean Bergusia Forge lock, but overall experience for vast majority of paying audience that may find certain activities to be too difficult/boring/not rewarding. Given all those rumours about rather unwieldy development tools Bungie uses, I am not sure they'll be able to quickly react and adjust content to rectify the situation, should it require more work than just opening Bergusia for everyone. Sorry being a pessimist here, but I find it to be more beneficial - you're either right, or pleasantly surprised. :) While I am all for new interesting content, I am somewhat reserved on what's coming next, because honestly, I am not big fan of "quality of life" we have now, and I do not mean enhancement cores implementation alone, for example. Yes, I do think they are too taxing and force you to farm them instead of playing activity you like (I'd gladly dork in forges, for example, I need more godly rolls than air assault and slideshot:D). And with two light levels up before us, I am shudder to imagine how many times I'll have to buff my arsenal. Even mains only, not swaps. If only we could get refund in full cores cost when dismantling a masterwork item... But I digress. Another QoL thing I don't like, is amount of legwork required to forge frames. Buy single frame, do requirement, farm radiant seeds, return to Ada, forge frame, rinse, repeat. Why can't I buy dozen of frame, farm 200+ radiant seeds, then return to Ada and forge them? There are "prototype" frames we buy from her for Glimmer, and they can be hoarded. I like participating in forge activity (but I'm strange - I also like Gambit), but all this "paperchase"-like activity kills all the fun for me. My issue with RNG is quite simple. Three example. First, Hazard of the Cast, my favourite rifle in game. I could get two Breaknecks before I got my first ever Hazard. My vault had all types of Gambit items, but not a single HotC. Even today, with 12K infamy points and one reset I still had only four of them (three of them sucks). Second, Osprey. It is the only item that separates me from Wayfarer (I still don't know what it gives, actually). But it's annoying not to be able to put that thing in and "close this case". It's just exhaustive. Third, Black Armoury rare bounty, needed for... something, it requires Obsidian Crystal, that requires rare bounty and till this day I had only two, one of which I couldn't complete, as it required four BA items equipped and I didn't have them back then. I mean I had more than four, but not in four slots. Does this irritates? Well, yes. I am effectively "gated" from performing activity because... raisins? While I care little about collections of exotics (still use Actium War Rig I got back on Titan during early campaign), spending almost a month without single exotic engram drop and having first post-drought being same gun you just bought from Xur is not really pleasing by any means. I was thinking on playing other classes, but something holds me back with this one. Maybe hunters are more agile and Warlocks are more deadly, but I feel fine with my titan for the most part. Other than that, I guess "wait and see" is the only thing we can do. :) So let's our waiting will be exciting and entertaining.:)
