If Destiny 3 is a new game, I'm not buying it.

As the title says. Bungie got away with D2 with the PC crowd because its new to us as PC players but they need to realize that no one is going to put up with that year one crap again. Sequels build on existing mechanics and lore, and not a gameplay, skill tree and loot downgrade. Streamlining is for suckers. I'm all for paid expansions but if any Bungie manager is thinking "So in D3 your guardian starts off as..." , I am gone. edit: what was a rage post after watching D1 videos seems to have struck a nerve. it's not like I don't want them to keep changing things up and its not like i don't want to pay for it. I do. But Ive already paid a fair amount and I don't want to spend more to watch my characters get zeroed again. it comes down to trust and I just don't trust Bungie to not repeat the same mistakes.

D3 is gonna go just like D2 1:the tower gets attacked, this time is the darkness😒 2:we lose all our gear, again. Shax will prolly keep 1 of our exotic weapons just to rub it in our faces just like in D2 3:Bungie slowly sells players all D1 & D2 exotics for the low price of pointless DLCs 4: They'll kill off another character for dramatic effect and call it new story content(prolly Amanda or Zavala cause Ikora cant die #WarlockMasterRace #Selfress 5: then they try to pull the Annual Pass card once again cause content is too hard to make 6: Next thing you know Destiny 4 is already here😴😴

    • Opened up Ishtar Legacy and reminded myself how much better the exotics and weapons were in D1. I seem to remember raids and PvP being better too. There was no good reason for Bungie disrespecting all the time players put into D1, to have everything wiped away in D2. Almost none of my original friends list plays D2 now, occasionally I see players giving D2 a try again, but fairly quickly moving on to something else. Bungie should acknowledge how monumentally they f****d up with D2, hopefully they learned something from their huge misstep.

      • D2 is finally at were d1 left off. Almost. New people didn't mind this game but.... I'm not buying a game again that takes 3 steps backwards and only 1 forward.

      • After the launches of the previous two ...why would you punish yourself in the first place. Just wait until the first or second expansion, see if it's for you and get the base game and both expansions for $ 35-40. So the purchase will feel a little more worth it and to also analyze where the state of the game is at. You know the old saying... Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, Fool me three times....you're the Fool.

You’ll all say this up until it drops only to immediately download it because you secretly preordered the second it was announced. Because if you don’t buy the game, then what else will you have to come here and complain about?

      • I wont get D3 until at least a year or better after release. My wife preordered D2 for me with the season pass after seeing how much I enjoyed D1. Sadly what she didnt take into account was that I didn't get that game until TTK dropped and got the entire game up to that point for $25. I was still excited when D2 dropped and put in less than 24 hours before I put it away and didnt touch it again until Foresaken dropped. In my opinion Foresaken was what D2 should have been at launch period. My wife again purchased the annual pass for me not because she saw my new interest in the game but because she was frustrated we had roughly $150 invested into the game and wanted to feel like we could get something out of it. I am happy with the game currently but know that there is still so many things that should be happening to get it into a better place that doesn't seem to have any emphasis to fix. I will buy D3, but when 3 or 4 expansions drop and the whole lot costs around $30 like it did this holiday season. Hate to say it, but everyone else should do the same.

          • The problem for me, and why I wouldn't currently touch D3, is my experience of D2. They never seemed to solidify what it was they wanted to create. D2 isn't and RPG. It isn't an MMO, it isn't really a PvP shooter, It's sort of a PvE shooter, it's...it's...well, it's all of those things, but in a dribbles and half starts. It doesn't really embrace any of them fully, but takes little snippets of each. The result for me has always been a hollow experience. I do enjoy elements of D2. The gun play is fun, the collecting can be fun (when it's not frustrated by co-op gating). It has nice story elements and some decent characters, but it just lacks something. One of my biggest issues is the lack of exploration and repetitive content. The maps, for the most part are boring and linear, like an F1 race track, only with alien scenery around it. Likewise the enemies feel limited and repetitive. Now I know D2 isn't supposed to be an MMORPG, but maybe it should be? Look at games like black desert, a flawed game for sure, but it has mastered the open world theme, with truly insane map sizes and a true open world with hundreds players in each section at any one time. A truly populated world teaming with enemies and places to explore. Why can't D2 or D3 be like that? Why these small restrictive, barely populated maps??? It seems to me, Destiny has all the makings of a great, open world adventure. The bare bones are there to work with. All it needs is an expansive open world! Another issue for me, is the apparent laziness of the developers. They roll out Forsaken, which to be fair had a decent amount of content, not quite befitting the expansion price, but close enough. Then comes the season fee, which doesn't exactly fill me with hope for the future. We essentially won't be getting anymore story driven adventures, just trickled out versions of escalation protocol for weeks and the occasional side quest. Sorry Bungie, but that is garbage! Based on how they've handled recent releases, I will avoid D3 like it had herpes! You can post all the enthusiastic videos you want of staffers saying things like "we are going to create a constant ever changing world". it won't wash when your view of an ever changing world is adding a few carbon copy, rinse and repeat tasks every so often. That kind of thing should have come as standard from the start, without paying extra. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with financially supporting a game like this over time with paid DLC's etc. But those DLC's should have actual expanding content, and new exploration opportunities. Just adding a room to an existing map, filled with the same old enemies, just isn't good enough. Anyway, enough ranting. I won't be buying D3 if it comes out, in case you hadn't guessed. I'd rather see a mega D2 expansion that revamps the game. I'd happily pay a full game price for it too, if it had the content, but starting over, just so they can repeat all their old sins on new players...nah, I'm out.

          • Ever heard of The Sims? Because that's the model bungie are using with sequels. Re-release the base game then resell the expansions back to you.

              • From a post I created earlier. There is no destinations to keep visiting for new gear or side quest in the open world for unique gear. One person standing on a map does not count in an open world environment. I will tell you that I will buy D3 but if it ends up as a time gated grind or regrind the same stuff over and over just to get to max level I will finally say goodbye to Destiny and look more at Anthem, Cyberpunk 2077, ect. I hope and I do every time Bungie lets me down that there is NEW things to do over the entire span of D3 when released and not just because they added a few things that is time gated to stretch it out. Enough with the repetitive grind system already! We who have invested countless hours and money on broken promises deserve a more hardcore PVE minus the repetitive grind and small amount of content that stretches the content out so that they can just say you had something new to do at every reset. Fill the open worlds with massive amount of content. (side quest, outpost that are populated, gear and quest unique to those outpost, non players you can engage with) Let us buy and use mods unique to said outpost that you can put on our armor. Make it more difficult for low light levels to make it to the more quality outpost to buy better mods. Let us use more than one mod at a time. Let us build our armor from said mods not from random perks or preset perks. Let us add attachments to all of our guns. Let us upgrade our legendary s to exotic status via upgrade material and then add mods to it. Let us use more than one exotic at a time for crying out loud. We grinded for it we should be able to use it without limitations. Make normal common enemies strong at low light level very weak at high light level. English

Not buying regardless, quit playing a while ago and moved on to other games that reward your time played and are not based on rng.

Destiny 3 should be a whole new game ... it just shouldn't come out for a while, and it can't just feel like more of the same when it does. Loot games eventually have to reset; they can't just keep making the numbers go up and add more loot forever, because that trivializes the progression, which is the entire point of the game. But loot games also can't reset too often either, or they'll kill the reward of grinding out those higher numbers. Destiny 2 is in a good place right now, and I think Bungie needs to keep working on THIS game for the next couple years. Bring Destiny 3 out holiday 2021, on the next generation of consoles, after Destiny 2 has had a nice long time to run its course.

                        • Why didn't Bungie just do with Destiny like With what World of Warcraft has been doing? You have this big Universe.. Every like 3 years throw out this big expansion. So, Destiny 2 should've been one of these massive expansions. Everything from D1 is still there, Locations and all. But with everything in D2 added and changed.
