Bonjam everyone! This is Aifos coming to you alive from the abandoned Thunder Temple! And I’m stuck here, because, I can’t fly! Hm.. Oh, duh, I’ll just call for help!
Phosphora: “Yes, you called?”
Ugh, not for you, I didn’t. Please, go away. Or at least put something appropriate on..
Phosphora: “Lighten up Aifos! My game’s only rated E10+, what I’m wearing is fine.”
I don’t like you.
Anyway! Ignoring her, between cameos, crossovers, and obscure references, video games are no strangers to (intentionally or otherwise) advertising other games. Sometimes, these references amount to nothing more than just that; a reference.
However, sometimes, those references manage to convince us to try games we otherwise might not have, and sometimes, we’ll actually like those games we try! And so I thought, why not talk about those games we love, that we only leared about from other games we love?
And on a side note, anyone trying to make an argument for some sort of connected game multiverse because of cameos amd crossovers is an idiot. No offense to them.
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
Whether from a crossover, a cameo, or some other reference, what are some of your favorite games you learned about from other games?
My answer;
In Smash Bros 4 & Ultimate, if you briefly use Pit’s down taunt on the one big Skyworld stage, Pit will have a telepathic conversation with Palutena and/or Viridi about his opponent.
They’re always a little goofy, like Pit having a crush on Zelda, or freaking out when he’s fighting Bayonetta, and frankly, they’re all pretty hilarious.
These little coversations are what convinced me to give Kid Icarus: Uprising (a series I first heard of via Pit’s appearance in Brawl) a shot, and, unsurprisingly, it was a pretty amazing game. Like, seriously, has Sakurai ever made a bad game?
Edit; honorable mentions to NiGHTS, who I learned of through his various Sonic cameos, and TWEWY, which I learned of through Kingdom Hearts 3D.
But that’s all for now folks! Jambuhbye!

8 RespuestasFire Emblem through SSB Skyrim and Fallout I already knew about, but I loved their music and style when I played the crossover pack on Minecraft and here I am playing New Vegas and Oblivion as we speak.

1 RespuestaEditado por Pepe Silvia: 1/2/2019 5:52:02 PMThe Metro games introduced me to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games Bloodborne introduced me to the other Souls games, which seems a little bass backwards, but I really didn't know about the souls games until Bloodborne.

2 RespuestasCan't think of any games that introduced me to other games off the top of my head. More like I liked one game so I went out of my way to find other similar games. I guess Ehrgeiz and Kingdom Hearts kind of count. I wasn't introduced to them through Final Fantasy but I my interest in them stemmed from the fact that they had Final Fantasy characters. I can think of a few shows that introduced me to games though, and vice versa. .hack Monster Rancher Pokémon Digimon

1 RespuestaI first saw and was intrigued with Samus at the age of 5 when I played Smash Bros 64 years ago. She stuck out the most for me mainly because I’ve always liked sci-fi so anything space related to me at that age was more cool than anything else. Unfortunately I never had the chance to play any Metroid game until recently with Super Metroid on the Wii U. I love the game deeply but I just wish I had the chance to play it as a kid.

3 RespuestasFound out about vampire the masquerade bloodlines when vampyr came out. IMO bloodlines is 50x more enjoyable even with being so dated.

4 RespuestasEditado por ALIAS-F4LS: 12/29/2018 11:55:07 PMI wouldn't say I discovered them through it but Borderlands got me to try Dark Souls and one time, D&D. There were a couple more things in Borderlands that got me inspired to try them but those are the two I remember most clearly. There were just so many winks and nods to other games and movies in Borderlands 2. Borderlands led to dark souls, dark souls led to berserk, and then that led all led to Dragons Dogma and Warframe somehow. It was a pretty cool chain of events.

5 RespuestasTbh I never really wanted to play Metroid or mgs until brawl

5 RespuestasMy first Elder Scrolls game was Skyrim. I was so fascinated by the lore that it eventually led me to my favorite ES game, Morrowind.

5 RespuestasMines sort of an inverse example, but I decided to get soulcaliber 6 because of 2b’s inclusion as a guest fighter. (Well, that’s half of the reason, the other half is all the crazy custom fighters people make)

No offense to them.
You don't have to answer, but I have to ask - why have you become so angry and spiteful lately? Are you doing okay? Anyway, to answer the question, I think the most obvious game is Super Smash Bros. No particular title in the series, but I'm sure this series has introduced so many people to so many great games. For me, I only discovered Metroid, Pikmin and Star Fox because of Super Smash Bros Brawl. Metroid is particularly important here, since Super Metroid has since become my favourite game.

2 RespuestasAll the dark souls Easter eggs and references in my games made me try it out eventually. That and because my friend kept urging me to. Said friend also got into watching RWBY when their characters were featured in blazblue. He had no idea who the characters were but really enjoyed their personalities, fighting styles and the soundtrack. Now he’s just as much of RWBY sucker as I am. The same with dark souls.
