Why Luna/Not Forgotten, streamers and youtubers don't want SBMM? Here is the answer!

If SBMM would be implemented, two things will happen: 1) -those with high scores/high skill will ONLY face others on relatively high score/skill (this will make harder for them to farm for Legend rank, or even reach teh ranks for weapons, not impossible, but harder) 2) -Low skill and low rating players will have a easier time to climb the Glory ladder, facing similar skilled level teams/players The tryhards don't want this to happen. The tryhard "skilled" players [u]got their Luna by FARMING LOW SKILLED, SOLO players[/u]. SBMM will not allow this anymore, they will always face equal opponents, and they will have a way harder time to push for ranks and achievements. Thus, they don't want SBMM to come back, because they are scared of facing oponents of equal skill, they want easy fast wins against folks such as myself, to get their Luna and brag about how good they are. The rest of the player base, the majority, is stuck feeding their egos, and they are literally a glory farm for these dudes. Streamers and youtubers will have a harder time posting awesome clips about their 180's and other shenanigans, will have a harder time to climb. These players HATE, and are scared to death about sbmm and solo queue being truly solo. They want / need a system such as we have now, where they can fireteam with other skilled friends and go and steam roll new players and players who aren't too good at crucible, to get their weapons then BRAG ABOUT THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS (all done against lower skilled players, btw). [u]I have watched a streamer for example whom, when he start facing high skilled opponents, simply quit and went to do pve because "ehmmm...i need to finish my weekly milestones", in fact he was raging that he was losing and stop doing pvp for the day. This wouldn't have happened if he would have faced noobs like me and constantly winning, in fact he would have gladly pvp for the rest of his stream, showing his "skillz"[/u] Here you have it folks, this is the reason. I would gladly take a queue time increase if sbmm would be applied, and not the system we have now in place, it is corrupted, broken, does Bungie don't see this, don't they care? [u]TLDR: the wannabe mythic glory ranked ones don't want sbmm. Because then they will start to lose against same level opponents[/u]

  • I believe there is sbmm in comp, but if it's there it's absolute tripe. Can't count how many teams I've gone against who have a way higher elo/ kd.

    I'm not a top tier player but I give no shits about getting stomped. I give lots of shits about the fact that whoever has host gets a significant advantage, laggers not taking damage or dying 3-5 secs after I shoot, etc. I just want an equal playing field. Since better servers prolly will never happen, cbmm is the next best thing. Yes, a few tweaks like only putting people within 500-1000 glory of each other or the top person in the party are needed, but nothing annoys me more than playing the same team that u just stomped/got stomped by n having the results flip completely bc the host changed.

  • Sbmm does not automatically make your opponents skillful, it just makes them more likely to abuse whatever the easiest thing is at the time. The vast majority of players even at mythic/legend aren’t really the mlg pros you think they are they’re just passive-aggressively 3 peeking lanes waiting for a numbers advantage. Also if you’re solo queuing, you should be able to hit fabled with a bit of effort, past that is pretty hopeless though unless you’ve got god tier skills and even better luck. I barely play currently due to growing tired of snipers being pretty much worthless but I grinded out 5500 last season and ended up seeing a few of the best players on the platform often enough that I could dodge them because I knew when I’d match them. So thinking more experienced players don’t match each other enough as is, is a little misinformed. Especially in mythic/legend.

  • You are correct. As a 'luna/not forgotten' player, I'd hate for it to come back. You realise how boring quickplay is when you're having to try heard everygame? Comp is also a stupid place for it. Rank based matchmaking is vital for comp to work. If skill based matchmaking was in comp, mainly bottom tier players will progress. Top tier players would have inconsistencies in their games and not be able to get a steady point grind.

    I mean SBMM should be in comp, which it sounds like it is....kind of. Some people say they are matched up with people around their glory rank while others go up against people with 4 Luna’s. Now as everybody’s glory resets to 0, it is probably likely for people to go up against players that have already gotten Luna’s at a low rank. There should be something that either recognizes how what rank was reached the previous season, or we should not be completely reset but rather reset by a solid amount. Now for quickplay, this absolutely needs to be CBMM. Quickplay is just for fun, you should be able to run what you want when you want to. Now a lot of people complain how maybe a high skill player is in their lobby, but so what? It’s quickplay, not comp. It should not be a big deal. If quickplay had SBMM, every game would be a sweat fest with people having to try hard every game. Doesn’t sound like a noncompetitive to me. Quickplay should remain quick, and not competitive. It should have CBMM.

    • We "sweaty players" dont want sbmm because we dont feel like tryharding every game we play. We want to able to play qp and not have to sweat our balls off to do well. Besides, if they focus on sbmm, then the Connections will have to be sacreficed, and i dont think anyone wants that

        Streamers are not the only ones who don't want SBMM(most of the gaming world doesn't). You clearly don't know what it is or how it would effect you. You live in Texas? Well the only players we can find of your skill all live in Asia. GOOD LUCK!!!

        • Let’s get a hybrid region based SBMM. That way there would be decent connections and we could face those with similar skill sets.

          • bullshit . I got my luna mostly by soloqueueing , facing full teams all the time , and from now and then inviting some of the people i was matched with. The reason why I don't want SBMM is because it's going to have exactly the same consequences as it did in D1 : EXTREMELY LONG matchmaking times , EXTREMELY laggy games and most of the times ending up in uneven (4v6) games or games in progress . That's the time that I stopped playing pvp in D1 because I kept getting in games with pings above 300ms and kept getting error codes and disconnect . PVP became litterally unplayable because the game couldn't find people with matching connections on the same level . You know what they should do though ? Match based on glory rank . People who are on rank 0 match other rnak 0 , people who are on rank 1 match other rank 1 , people who are rank 2 match other rank 2 etc. There's no point in having glory ranks if it doesn't affect matchmaking , and it is extremely dumb for people who are trying to get their lunas to be put against full 6-stacks with not forgottens .

            • I'm an OK PvP'er at best and I DO NOT want SBMM. I'm not the type of person who worries about who's on the other team. I couldn't care less. I want the best connection possible. I want my bullets to actually hit what I'm shooting them at. I want the enemy to actually be where I see him. Besides, how are you ever going to get better if you never face better opponents? I'll take a good connection over players as bad as me any day of the week.

            • Or you could simply say "f**k it" and not bother with getting those weapons OR playing PvP again. That's where I'm at and I'm happy with that.

              • They should A. Don't que teams with solos and B. Don't make it so hard to get luna's/not forgotten. It is basically impossible to get NF right now as a player who isn't in a FULL team

                  • Comp has SBMM, QP does not because it broke months ago and Bungie are seemingly struggling to find a fix. Why does Comp throw forth mismatched lobbies? Simple. The player pool is [i]that low.[/i]

                      Orrrrrrrrr 1. Skill based matchmaking in destiny 1 caused laggy games due to there not being dedicated servers and their shit p2p connection. 2. Skillbased matchmaking should only apply in comp. Quickplay should stay connection based cause I am "Quick"ly trying to find a game to play not waiting 5 minutes for a good match for my mediocre skill rating. 3. Also you must have not reached above 1000 in glory rank because I have not faced anyone my skill level above 1000. Its mostly 3500+ or mixed randoms.

                      • It will be a lag fest, ever dwindling player base will make it even worse. I would rather they did away with any dodgy matchmaking apart from connection. No more trying to manipulate 50/50 win loss. Maybe have a solo only playlist.

                          As someone who used to be really good at fps, if sbmm existed in the games I played I’d have very very long queue times. Id have had to try my ass off every single game. Id have not had a reason to play. I’ve always felt and will always continue to feel that a man x of skills on a match is the best. It lets everyone get that game where they pop the -blam!- off. It lets everyone get that game where they see someone do some amazing shit and motivates them to improve. It’s easy to implement. People of all skill can find games at the same time without problem. Sure it isn’t perfect but forcing the skilled players into a corner to fight amongst themselves would be more of a “I’m sick and tired of being unskilled at the game and don’t want to fix my simple mistakes”. Seriously who didn’t enjoy the old days in cod when you saw someone get a nuke? Seeing People pull shit like that off is the only reason I tried to improve ever As for Luna and not forgotten I’d much rather the magnificent howl perk be removed and replaced with maybe rampage or kill clip? As well as bugging the living hell out of both weapons stats so they are good based on their stats alone instead of having an exotic their perk
