Bungie, begging you to look at the toxicity of comp
I regret that my first forum post is a negative one, especially in light of how much I've enjoyed The Forsaken content.
I've spent a lot of time in competitive play recently, grinding to get Luna's Howl. Much to my dismay, I've been stuck on reaching Fabled for over a month. I've utilized the fire team lfg on the Destiny app to find help, due to most of my clan mates just not being very good at PVP. Frustratingly enough, rolling with multiple 4 stacks, I'm now hundreds of glory points behind where I started.
After seeing many fire team members become utterly demoralized at loss after loss, and seeing how many people are offering recovery services and paid carries, I really wish Bungie would do something about comp scoring. I hesitate to say that many people are actively cheating or deliberately lagging, but there is definitely some of that. It's mostly witnessing the frustration and anger that drains the joy out of playing the excellent game modes that I feel is making a toxic experience. I'm certainly fine with a loss penalty, although I wish it took more than one loss to almost complete negate a win.
I didn't think reaching the endgame content and grinding for gear would be this frustrating. And it hasn't been, except for comp. It's disheartening to roll with full teams and lose hours and days worth of progress.
I greatly enjoy Destiny 2, but this is ruining the competitive play experience.

1 RespuestaI got to 1500 solo, then hit a wall (4-man-teams). It almost feels as if Bungie uses solo players as fodder for the sweaties. It's by design. Like Hansel and Gretel, first they feed you, then they lead you to slaughter.

2 RespuestasPaid account recoveries are ruining competitive. Literally the top 1% players stomping everyone. Why not, it’s $900 to get Not Forgotten on eBay. Bungie won’t do anything because they actually need streamers to have content to keep the twitch presence and more players populating the game. Solution: Decrease the comp loss penalty to 10 points.

14 RespuestasHere’s the thing. The problem with the gun. Not everyone deserves Fabled. It’s ranked. Not everyone is good enough to be Fabled. The fact that they put such an OP weapon behind a “skill-lock” is what’s causing carries and recoveries and the likes. Simply put, because of the system we’re working with, not everyone deserves LH.

Play with teams of the same gloryish as you, the comp playlist is something you get better at, as you get better you gain rank, as you gain rank you get harder enemies and it keeps going. When you team up with guys of way higher glory than you the enemies you face are a giant bump up from what you're used to.

2 RespuestasI feel your pain. Two weeks going from 1200 to 600 then back again. 10 loss streaks. Playing against those that already have lunas and or 3v4. I feel like uninstalling and never playing again.

1 RespuestaYou actually tried the LFG route before coming to the forums. That already makes your opinion more valid than 95% of the posts I see. It really does suck to look at your glory after a whole day of grinding, only to find that you haven't made any progress. For what it's worth, keep your head up. As we near the end of the season, more people are going to be heading into comp to try and get Luna's Howl. Are you on Xbox? I'm helping a friend get LH and you're welcome to join us. I added like 10 of the people I found through LFG while doing my own LH grind, so I can pretty much always get a full fireteam together for comp.

1 RespuestaThe competitive playlist is fine for those who wants to play comp. It's not perfect but it's not bad. Your frustration appears to be the fear of missing out more than anything else. You don't have to be that good to get to fabled. I did it and I'm telling you I'm very average at best. Not forgotten is a different story but lunars howl is very obtainable

If you are not the best pvp player, it SHOULD be hard for you to gain higher competitive ranking. Practicing is how you can get better. Try finding a team of 4 and only playing with that same team, so you can get better as a group. Good luck!

ITS COMP, lmao you want them to kiss your booboos when you lose? its supposed to suck. every win matters just as much as every loss, every player on the other team wants the win as much as you do. People come to comp to use the sweatiest, most safe and most of the time the most annoying playstyles. Yeah the ddosing and cheating suck, that should be fixed but you sound like youre saying " yeah so losing sucks, hey bungie can you give me a free pass?" Personally i hated my time in comp, i was a solo player and when i ran in a 4 stack it was lfgd, did it work out 100% of the time? no but i kept at it because i wanted the gun, i put in the work and got it done. and so did thousands of other players that now have the lunas and not forgotten, they didnt come on to the forums asking for a handicap because winning is hard....

I played a match the other night. Now, I KNOW I will meet sweats and cheaters etc.. I am well aware.. But this match starts, come face to face with a player that literally teleported, strategically, not the running against the wall etc, straight up making my shots not count while they melt me. .. then I hear my team mates all call out the same thing. The entire team rushed, lagged, and melted. I’m triggered right?.. so I look up their stats.. .9 players with a negative win loss.. 🤔 Were they cheating? Was it a recovery? Or just bungies network? But this is why I avoid the grind for Luna. Please, put play me, kick my butt.. there are MANY players out there that can and will. I’m fine with that.. But the above situation makes no sense and messes with my ocd when I am watching a teleporting player that avoids my shots while they hit me not missing a single crit. Rushing me knowing how it will play out.

You're not a top tier streamer so Bungle doesn't care what you think. Get 1,000,000 followers and they'll come to your house to listen - even if you're a glitching cheating POS.

Keep at it dont give up i went through the same when getting my luna i was ready to give up but i stuck at and got it and promised myself never to step foot in comp again and i did it all solo and im only an average pvp player so if i can do it you NEVER SURRENDER

Hey Shogun, I definitely understand where you are coming from. Playing competitive will make you rethink on how you play PvP. Gotta play smarter, faster and really understand the mechanics of PvP and the maps. I primarily play PvP and I’m a mediocre player that solos a lot, it’s frustrating when I get a whole team of not so good PvP players. Especially since the last part is requiring the glory status to get Fabled. It’s tough when you get matched against all really good players or 2-4 stacked teams. So losing points because of consistently getting stuck with not so good players is a little frustrating and especially when they leave before the game starts. It’s tough, I totally get it. I’ve gone from over 1930 to just under 1730 to back up to 1922 (I think). My suggestion for you is what a few have said on here. Definitely practice some quickplay or even rumble/private lounges once in awhile. It’ll help you get map awareness and make you practice more instinct based tactics. Second would be, yes if you can find a good set of people that play PvP, join up with them. Third, if you start losing 2/3 games in a row. Take a break from it and come back to it the next day or something. Losing consecutively does demoralize and frustrate people where you’ll lose lots of points (believe me I know). Just remember competitive is skill based so find people to carry you or grab people all within relative same skill level. To say it in the least-offensive way possible, it [i]is[/i] called a "pinnacle" weapon for a reason. Not everybody is going to deserve it. Anybody can want anything, but that doesn't mean that everybody is going to get it.
