There have been several posts on the frustrating new infusion system but here is my take on it.
Bungie has stated that the new infusion system was designed to limit how quickly players increase their power levels. It is definitely true but only partially. The only players held back by the new system are the ones concerned with their loadout or guardian appearance.
I have a loadout and armor set that i greatly prefer to any other. But i can't use all of that if i want to make any gains in power level. Infusion is essentially a hybrid transmog system. It doesn't make your power stronger, it lets you look how you want and use what you want as you level up.
It doesn't stop power grinders from leveling fast. It only slows SOME of us and essentially forces you to play with whatever rng gives you.
The slight increase in the renamed cores is like slapping a bandaid on a broken leg. Its still tedious for anyone who has favorite gear.
A huge part of destiny is getting to use what you want for your unique loadout and appearance. Why should that be limited.

2 RespuestasIt’s definitely not a very well thought out system.

1 RespuestaSo true, I hate hand cannons but if the power is higher then I will use them. I don’t worry about fusing til I hit max power.

1 Respuestai have yet to infuse my fancy set of armor yet...

3 RespuestasIt made me quit the game entirely. I’m not a complainer looking for attention. The infusion system and stall in leveling legitimately made me stop playing. I couldn’t level up fast enough to participate in Dreaming city quests mich less anything else. The grind was a pain in the ass and pointless. What’s the point of having hundreds of weapons but being forced to only use what is given through rng?

1 RespuestaYou're 100% right. Anyone who was smart found and saved the gear that they were going to use well before 600. So it didn't extend any kind of grind. It just limited us as we progressed and took all of 30 seconds to complete and masterwork a set we already knew we would have a month ago. I laugh at all the people who think the exotic drop rate was smart too. It didn't prolong anyones grind. No one is chasing exotics at 600. We all have stopped playing for the most part. Bungie's tactics to keep players playing after max has failed once again. All they did was annoy us on the way up.

Making infusion expensive or meaningful is a terrible idea. At the end of the day, infusion is mostly a convenience/QOL system. It doesn't make people gain light much faster (it only makes you gain it any faster if it lets you do activities you couldn't otherwise do). But when a system like this makes you use up a scarce resource you need to accumulate over a long time, and only provides a temporary benefit (since you will just outlevel your gear again anyway), the only sensible option is not to do it. So infusion is mostly a bad idea before 600. But the power climb to 600 is the most interesting part of the game to most people. So you're eliminating a major QOL feature during the bulk of the experience for most people. It also breaks item customization across the board for anyone under 600. Shaders? A waste of time if you're going to outlevel your gear. Mods? A bad idea to use them when you're just going to outlevel your gear (I guess you can get them back from dismantling, but good items you'll probably want to save to infuse at 600). Masterworks? But you need those cores for infusion... and it's a waste of them when you're just going to outlevel your gear. I mean it's a little messed up when by far the thing I was most happy about when I finally got to 600 was "Finally, I can infuse stuff".

1 RespuestaExactly. It doesn't limit power levels, it just forces you to play with gear you really don't want to use. And use butt ugly armor combos. And you know what else? I don't want to put effort into modding or masterworking my favorite guns because infusing them to usable levels is too expensive for a new player with no steady source of cores (I haven't even seen the Spider yet).

1 RespuestaYup. All of what you just said.

7 RespuestasIt's not even that limited. If you can only use a single gun for the entire game then you don't play enough of the game in its entirety. Yes the core infusion is annoying but I don't infuse everything instantly anyways. I had 150 cores going into this dlc and I still have 20ish left over. It's taken nearly two months to go thru them simply because while leveling I used different guns. Otherwise the gameplay gets stale and you end up whining here in the forums like you do. Worry about perfect sets and appearances later.
