UPDATE: It is retroactive I can confirm. I finished mine. /// Can someone confirm of it counts if you reset before the last step, I'm on it currently, I reset twice before I got to it and once when I had it but it just shows a box for 5 resets not a progress bar. So will I get my Broadsword in 2 resets?

No. I reset 3 times before I got to the last step. So once I got there I only needed to do 2 more and I was curious as to if the 3 previous resets were retro active.

Also, people who already have reached step 8 have confirmed it doesn't track. I'll be at step 8 in a couple days as well. I know the wording is terrible, I'm not disputing that. But in reality this quest is not retroactive for a single step.

Yeah it counts rank resets all the way through the quest line so you should have it complete after two more

Fair enough, I read on a different website and also saw a string of tweets from Kevin Yanes that said it was retroactive. There seems to be a lot of confusion over the whole quest

I saw that post too from Kevin Yanes. He said anything with a rank was tracked all season. I think what he meant was the 2nd step, Reach rank of Heroic, was tracked. That's the only thing I can think of. Plenty of players have made it to the last step and have confirmed what DMG04 said.
