Iron Banner level advantages

I get the want to have level advantages in IB. It is an end-game event that should reward players for completing the content. HOWEVER, I find it ridiculous that it wouldn't be segregated between players who have Forsaken and players who do not. Those of us who are too poor, too sensible, or too busy to get Forsaken are now edged out of an event solely because we can't or won't buy Forsaken. Light level for us is capped at 380 for gear now outside raids. How does that make it fair to us to be pitted against other players who just by default of having Forsaken will be higher light than us? Either Iron Banner needs to be segregated between content and max possible light levels, the advantages just need to be disabled altogether, or they need to allow players to grind their gear up weekly with the legendary gear engrams or heroic adventures/strikes to the new maximum. It'll be slower than if we had Forsaken, because we won't have the new raid, Gambit, or the quests. But still. This is ridiculous, and this is what holds Bungie back. They leave their poor players in the dust. Not a great business outlook

  • Just cap the effects of light level difference at like 25 or 30.

    • The way I see it DONE PROPERLY light level advantage is one of the few legitimate incentives they could use to get players to buy the latest DLC. It’s far fairer than just locking players out of activities that they could once play. But the trouble is how they got greedy and cocked all that up in D2. First they got rid of light level and just locked out players that didn’t have the latest DLC. Then because of the shit storm that created they opened it back up. Now they’ve made it a end game activity again (SORT OF) by enabling light level. BUT the loot drops aren’t end game rewards because for the most part they have very little positive influence on your light level. So in essence Iron Banner isn’t actually a end game activity. I honestly thought Bungie had got their shit together for Forsaken and made some good changes for the sake of the game but the switch to light level enabled for Iron Banner wasn’t done with any deep thinking about how it would improve the players experience. But solely towards incentives to make people need the latest DLC.

    • Does it even drop powerful gear though? None of the bounties offer powerful gear, the only reason to play is the weapons which have random rolls anyway unless Bungie decide to sell god rolls.

If they where to open up iron banner for people that don’t have forsaken, people that are lower light then 400 are going to get clapped by higher light players on forsaken. So my thought is that if they where to allow players that don’t have forsaken to be able to play iron banner, it will only be playable without non forsaken players which I highly doubt that would happen. For example I’m in the 500s light and today I played against a 200s light player on iron banner, I could almost all the time two tap him with hand cannons that usually take 3 shots. Same with the chaperone, it would do over 400dmg to the poor guy. Also take note that forsaken weapons are nasty, imagine you going up against someone with Luna’s howl or trust, or even a bow, if your still using old meta weapons or non forsaken weapons you are most likely going to loose. This is only for average players, of course if your really good at the game it wouldn’t matter what weapon he/ she uses; but let’s be honest their are a lot less good players than average players.

      • I do agree, when being 10 light below someone makes it to where I have to put in one to two extra shots to kill them, I don't even want to imagine a 380 going against a 540. Would matchmaking times be long for you guys? Yes, but it'd be better.

      • Make regular crucible drop the old ib gear during the event. Then you guys can play "iron banner". If you want new gear, buy the new dlc...

When they removed the prestige nightfall for the players without the dlc = “gneeee :,,,,,(“ When they made unplayable IB for the players without the dlc = “-blam!- you buy the dlc I don’t mind” This community = garbage

        • It's not even an end-game event anymore. None of the rewards are increases to power and it's been nearly a biweekly event ever since Warmind dropped. It's just a mini-event honestly. It's changed too much to simply go back to the whole 'Light level advantage enabled' that D1 had for it. Frankly, I'm not enjoying it already. I'm forced to use my higher light weapons/gear to not be at a disadvantage, and the infusion costs are horribly expensive so I can't just infuse into gear I want to use. If they continue Iron Banner like this, it's going to be played way less than in year 1 D2.
