Enemies come in so many flavors, don’t they? Some exist only as fodder to be slain in the masses, some to force players to keep on their feet, others to assist enemies with a little more swing in them, or some to crush your face in before you even dare to take on a boss.
Yet sometimes that has just enough attacks on them that they could be made into a playable character. Nintendo’s not shy of this idea, although I’d like to look for something more “complicated,” so to speak. Have you ever encountered an enemy with enough moves that they could apply to be a character in a “hero” shooter or a moba or something similar?
I’ll provide the example that inspired this whole thread here (as pictured):
While watching some gameplay of a recent indie called Chasm, I noticed this enemy in the picture.
At first I thought “oh, she looks adorable!” Then I saw her do three or so moves:
-A Slashing attack with one of her arms
-A Ranged attack I can’t quite remember
-Tossing a seed to spawn a stalk enemy that acts a bit like a turret
Looking back the ranged attack might just be the seed tossing attack, so she might not count as much as I thought. That being said, that might be enough to get her into a game like Dirty Bomb or Raide-erm, Spacelords.
1 RespuestaAnything past the second stage of Dead Cells
I mean, there's a non-boss enemy (not even a miniboss) who is giant, will literally not let you get away from him (via teleportation), has supersonic punches that could four shot you, and slams on the ground to cause an i-frame-ignoring earthshatter on the ground, which stuns you unless you jump up, allowing him to toss an inescapable supersonic punch. And there is no cooldown on that ability after he punches.
Editado por The First Aifos: 8/13/2018 8:04:34 PMThis is Pardoner Fennel. Given the open nature of Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, it’s hard to say when you encounter her, but I think for most players, she’s probably the second boss. She has a pretty interesting moveset, that I think could play wonderfully. Sword Slash: 1-3 Sword strikes Lightning: Can conjure 1-3 lightning bolts to strike you Silence: Can slam the ground, creating a cursed aura, preventing you from using items Dodge: Can quickstep in any direction, much faster than Kaho. Buff: Halfway through the fight, she applies a light to her weapon Dark Souls style, powering up all her attacks I think that’s a pretty solid move foundation to build a game out of. Buff would obviously, and perhaps ironically, need to be nerfed, though.
”The queen destroyed this kingdom’s faith... Maiden in white, you are not one of us.. Perhaps you stand with the queen? Look at what she’s done to this kingdom!” -Pardoner Fennel
Edit: She also has a Sword Spin move, where she jumps at you swinging her sword around her.

6 RespuestasEditado por The Researcher: 8/10/2018 7:26:00 PMThe Stalker in warframe. They had a devstream with stalker mode apparently, didn't watch it, but is that going to be in the game?
also this gave me an idea for a game where you switch between 2 characters throughout the story, both working against each other with both having decent reasons to be the "hero" cumulating in you having to pick one of them to win the conflict. Does something like this exist?
The Guardian/ Pink Drifter from Hyper Light Drifter They can really shine light on what he did in the past, and what he does during the game when we don't see him.
after finding you unconscious and taking you to his home, he can be found throughout the game in each of the four paths, telling us about the area(there's no written dialogue in this game so really it's just pictures and you interpret what's going on). however, he dies once the player reaches the south, where he tells us about how his wife and child died to the same sickness he and the player has. he had left home to follow the visions he had from The Jackal, just like The Player in the beginning cutscene of the game. however, if you don't talk to him throughout the game, he lives
Ever since finishing Super Mario Odyssey, I've wanted a game where your main character is Bowser. I've never thought of him as a villain per se, but he is always the antagonist. He makes a cool antagonist, but I think he'd make an even cooler protagonist. To my knowledge, Bowser can be a party member in the Mario RPGs, but I want a game where he is the main protagonist. Also, a Dark Souls spin off where your main character is the Nameless King would be cool to see. Or any of the bosses for that matter.

I feel I’ve got to give an obligatiry mention to Kirby: Star Allies here. Not for the regular friend system, but for the Dream Friends. Particularly, Daroach. Daroach would be a great contender here anyway. With the Tri Star, Ice Rod, and Fire Bombs, he would’ve been a good playable character with just those. But HAL really went above & beyond with his moveset, pulling from his actual moves, in addition to moves derived from his lore/story. Anyway, I’ll be back with a more on topic answer.. Kust gotta find one first!

The darkwraiths are the first to come to mind, high poise mixed with rapid hard hitting attacks, and a dark sorcery (for lack of better terms) that can project a shield in front of them or drain the life of whatever it touches
