Strikes are dead

Heroic strikes are problematic and unplayable for me because of a few reasons. The first reason is the modifiers/burns. The “singes” feel like underwhelming burns where the only thing doing more elemental damage is the enemy, and other elements you use are just handicapped to give the illusion of more damage. Give us back the actual burns that made d1 strikes more fun. The other modifiers like blackout are just boring and handicap you to the point where it feels positive fun modifiers don’t do anything. Things like faster nade recharge and more made damage and more melee damage feel weak and unsatisfying The second kind of backs on the whole modifiers. You’re essentially playing a 30 minute strike for maybe 10-15 tokens and some blues. The loot is boring still. Skeleton keys and strike specific loot would be appreciated. The loot is just too unrewarding to want to sit through these boring messes of a pve experience They are honestly harder than the nightfall’s at this point. Rushing through the nightfall by putting only positive modifiers in your card and justcollecting the powerful gear is the easier route. There’s no pressure on heroic strikes anymore like in RoI when there was scoring and that meant something. Maybe implement a scoring system that rewards high scores for once, and reward hard work other than just dumb luck. I miss fun heroic strikes and rewarding loot. Please bring it back

  • Thanks for the feedback. There will be some changes to how Strikes/Heroic Strikes work when Forsaken releases. Some modifiers will be updated, and some changes to how the activity feels as you increase your Power level. We'll have more info in the coming weeks. Cheers, -dmg

        • Man I feel you there. The only reason I still do Heroic Strikes is for Paradox Amplifiers, but I’m almost done doing those and then they’ll be useless. I’d love to see Skeleton Keys or something similar to them, and an increase in the amount of legendaries/exotics at least a small amount. I’ve only had Destiny 2 for maybe like 2 months, I think I’ve gotten 2 exotics in that time and I do at least 4-5 Heroics a day when I do play. Using the vanguard tokens is pointless, because then you just get 5 more tokens, woo hoo. Useless when your Vanguard is almost rank 50, I had thought it meant I would get vanguard gear and weapons at least. Plus they gotta add more strikes into the rotation, god please. Played the Nessus strike 4 times in a row yesterday where you fight the cabal who runs away from you when you almost kill him each time. Most of the time when the strike loads up people leave, because they’re also tired of the same strike all the time.

          • Strikes are dead because there is no incentive to do them. They need a loot table with random rolls to be a worthwhile activity. Without that, they are completely irrelevant and pointless outside the 3 mandatory per week for powerful gear.

              They did bring strike specific loot to all strikes. And when they brought it back, everyone was happy for a while, now it's back to complaining. At this point, I don't think Bungie can do anything that can please some of you.

              • I just run them on heavyweight. If its not heavyweight I dont run them.

                  HeavyWeight is fun BUT there is the problem Only one fun Modifier. Small arms, Specialist, mixed in with other modifiers is well worth playing Heroic Strikes. As of right now if Heavyweight is not ON, it's a skip for me because there is no reason to waste my time (14+ mins) in a strike for no reason when with heavyweight, can be done in 1/2 the time.

                  • I don’t need the weekly milestones anymore because my characters are all 385 and I’ve given up on strike catalysts so no reason to play strikes anymore.

                    • I love strikes, even with them being more meh in D2. But why would I grind them for loot I could just get from public events? At least one doesn't try and annoy me. Even in CoO they were better, because they were easy. Easy things are worth a few blues and some tokens, things that are objectively harder then the normal mode nightfall should not.

                    • I agree to a point. I still quite enjoy doing the heroics, but only now that I am 370+ on all my characters. I absolutely HATE the blackout modifier. I refuse to play when that's on. It's garbage and makes the strikes painful to do. I also tend to avoid Glass. I only do them for the powerful engram though, once I've done all the other stuff for powerful engrams. (I don't do Nightfall, or Raid, because there's no matchmaking and I can't be bothered going to a website to find a group. That should be an option in-game) I'm looking forward to Forsaken. I really want to see strike specific loot come back, among a few other promised enhancements.

                      • To me, modifiers are not the problem. It’s the caliber of players in the phuqing matchmaking that ruin it. Like, have you ever phuqing played this game before? Did you give the controller to your 8 year old cousin who thinks Minecraft is the best game ever made? Stick with regular strikes until you become more proficient with your weapons and understand your abilities. I’ve run strikes where the other players didn’t use a super once, had the least amount of kills and the most amount of deaths. What the phuq are you doing?!?!?

                        • Ok hold up, Number 1 - where the hell did you come up with the "You’re essentially playing a 30 minute strike for maybe 10-15 tokens and some blues" - They take like 10 mins.. So stop being dramatic. Number 2 - Grenader is deadly, Pulse grenades will ruin bosses, an over-charged scatter grenade will DESTROY any group of adds if thrown into th correct position. Number 3 - People dont play Heroic strikes for the "loot" most play them for the Catalyst drop, So even if Bungie did fill our inventory up with Exotics or Legendarys after each strike, they are no better than a blue these days, Its still all trash and will get dismantled as fast as the blues. Even if we did have Strike loot right now, We dont have random rolls, so even then the loot will become trash as soon as you get more than 1.

                            • All of you guys saying it takes 30 min to do these strikes are the greatest exaggerators of the year. These things take 10-12 minutes tops depending on the strike. Especially so when the heavy modifier is active, with grenadier a close second. Just about every one has a boss burning method as well. I get that the loot sucks, but I've been doing these trying to get catalysts, and they most definitely do not take anywhere near 30 min.

                                • When Forsaken Releases completely and people start playing it, are these changes to strikes a free thing?

                                • Go back and play the beginning storyline, and you realize how many areas we never saw again. There's potential, but I fear they're too lazy to do anything but recycle.

                                  Weekly‘ have ALWAYS been harder than nightfall. Nightfall’s were solo’d on the regular, weekly‘s were NOT. This goes all the way back to vanilla D1. Nothing has changed when it comes to weekly’s being more difficult than the nightfall. Apparently you have a short memory.

                                  • This guy is right, I loved grinding strikes in D1, in D2 I only play em if I have to. What changed I have no idea. For one I liked the possibility of strike exclusive loot or getting skeleton keys, made it feel worthwhile. I have run 100+ strikes this season got 1 catalyst and forgot I almost got it, there rarity of catalysts in those events just do not make it worthwhile. Where as in D1 keys were rare but I saw more then just every 100 strikes. Alsos trikes just seemed more unique in D1. Maybe that is because I continually get all Mercury and Mars strikes? I don't know. More unique strikes would be appreciated.

                                  • IMO Strikes are way to easy now and the only modifier I don’t like is grounded because I like Being in the air a lot. Burns are fine any boss can be melted quickly. Put the luck raspberry chest piece on With arc bolt and you will have som grenade fun. I threw 16 grenades in about 30 seconds with them the other day.

                                    • Heroic strikes are the dumbest thing in this game. These strikes were supposed to be a step above vanguard level with some modifiers to help spice it up. It should never be a chore. And it's also a pain when u get scrubs. I'd always get 100+ kills more than doubling the other 2 combined. And when we get to the boss, I'm forced to hard carry and if I dont we wipe over and over and that 30 mins of carrying is gone to waste because these guys are just so terrible I have to leave
