To be fair, they didn’t market the scorn as a new race, and they actually look more different than the taken, the siva fallen, or the icy hive

There are three hostile alien races in our solar system. In real life a single one would be threatening enough. Even assuming we'd have immortal super soldiers too. I'm actually fine when they just expand the races we know. For now. Like I said there's already three of them, four if you include Taken, all in OUR territory. That new Fallen race probably has links with the House of Kings or maybe they are remnants of the House of Wolves who once served the Reef. But Fallen are connected to Earth and the Reef anyway so it makes sense they're in Forsaken. I just hope there are no wild retcons, especially with the House of Kings. Edit: lul my bad. It's Cabal Hive Fallen and Vex which makes it four, five if you count Taken.

They never said it was a new race tho, unlike with the taken when’re they markested it as a new race but it was just reskins. They haven’t done that with the scorn

I wouldn’t really complain about the taken being reskins seeing as they are given to new weapons and all new abilities that actually make sense to the lore. SIVA was a bland re skin but I thought it looked cool and was done because the Fallen view machines as gods (or something like that) and SIVA was there way to ascend to godhood so it made sense. Frozen hive however is extremely lazy I’ll agree with you on that. Like that is a joke that the only difference is that cursed thralls can freeze you.

Taken never died, they were taken to an alternate realm and something (we're not clear on what) happened to them and now they're spooky. You can't take dead things IIRC. They're not like normal hive either, necromancy is blasphemy (thus why Nokris was cast out and sought to learn from Xol). They're their own faction, we don't know if they used Nokris-style necromancy or what, but they're different from the Hive, Taken, Cabal, and normal Fallen.

I don’t get the necromancy is blasphemous thing, the ascendant hive were allowed second chances all the time, Oryx himself resurrected his sisters after he killed them in his throne world

Yeah, thus defying the Sword Logic by cheating death (and anything that dies was not worthy of life in the first place, which is why resurrecting dead things violates the SL). Ascendant Hive are different, IIRC Oryx murdered his siblings to take their power in order to defeat Akka, but that was their physical forms, they still had an ascendant realm, thus never truly died, and that's why them coming back isn't blasphemy against the SL. At least that's what I make of it, I'm not exactly a lore master or anything and I probably missed something.
