I'm going there because that is the actual trend that is going to plague this game. Go look at the patch notes for CoO and Warmind, then read up on Seasons.
You cannot progress any further than the cap of the content you currently have and you are still able to access IB and Trials. Those activites have Power Advantages Enabled. With the current Power difficulty buffers in place, this means that players who just have the base game are going to be annihilated by up-to-date players due to the difference in Power.
It's a pay-to-win scheme that only SEEMS like it isn't because players are thinking that you are solely being locked out of PvE content. That is not true.

That's literally how any game with dlc works.
-
It is, which is why Destiny 2 is currently in danger of becoming P2W because progression is locked behind this content and they fully intend to have players achieve max progression to stand a chance in future Trials and Iron Banner events.
-
That's how progression works. Destiny is a pseudo mmorpg. This is part of an mmorpg model it promotes getting the new dlc. Not every single game is p2w though most use this model
-
LOL. Destiny is not an MMO, it's a looter shooter. You cannot excuse this shit with that because it simply is not true.
-
Massive Multi-player Online. Yep that applies here. Anyways yes it is a pseudo mmorpg (pseudo as in not quite the same) it uses literally the same marketing technique. In which case you stay current or get left behind. It sucks but that is how most online games operate.
-
So going by your logic, every mmorpg out now that offers a level increase and gear through DLCs/expansions is P2W, if it harms other players who don’t have said DLC? The DLC is supposed to encourage you to buy it. Not saying you have to, but clearly you see where this is going. This business practice is not new. How do you think devs get paid?
-
Every MMORPG has filters in place to prevent that from happening. Destiny 2 does not.
-
Well Destiny 2 is also a looter-shooter FPS with mmorpg aspects so saying that Destiny not having said filters is invalid because of Bungie’s business model. Most pure mmos don’t even have a PvP.

Those activities do NOT have Power Advantages enabled. They never have in D2.
