Edit: I'm neutral on this issue mostly, but I was approached by a friend about this and I wanted to see what others think. And I am referring to what individual people think, not stuff like government supported segregation, that just doesn't exist.

2 RespuestasI bet you voted for Trump, as a hispanic man I can confirm I'm being deported next week and I definitely have the short end of the stick.

27 RespuestasHow can a majority of the US have the shortest end of the stick? The world runs on connections. If you know somebody, that's already a leg up vs. someone who is actively trying to push people away that are making them uncomfortable. I'll use this forum's political population as an example since the title is describing the majority of the Offtopic: Considering that this forum is generally conservative when it comes to politics, it's not surprising that people on this forum are playing the victim complex and are complaining about the world being mean to them, or whatever. Many conservatives on this forum tend to give each other praise and gang up on someone who isn't a conservative, often to just attack them as a person and rarely their points. Many conservatives on this forum are close-minded and aren't willing to open up to the possibility that not everyone on this forum or in the world is conservative. The ones that I have met who don't fit this description are far and few on this forum, with at most that I can count right off the bat being around 4 people. These people also don't seem to be complaining that they're receiving the short end of the stick, so they must be doing something right. It's probably because they're willing to connect with other people who don't share their political views. As for real life, if it's a job, it's probably because the other person has more desirable traits that the white person doesn't have, such as speaking a second language or more languages, for example. If I was a business owner, I wouldn't use skin color as a major determining factor. Other than the base qualifications, I'd see if they have a volunteering history, if they can speak multiple languages, are empathetic, and generally a pleasant person to be around. Seeing less than 30% of the US can even speak a second language, it's not surprising. To bring it back to this forum, I remember there was a poll back in 2015 that indicated that not even 10% of this forum spoke a language other than English. A majority of people on this forum only spoke English, which is great, but it doesn't look that great compared to someone who can speak a second language, a third language, or more. Advice for people on this forum who want to look better on a resume: Get volunteering experience, get awards, be involved in the community where you're applying to, learn another communicable language, be a tolerable person to be around, do something that stands out compared to other people also going for your job.

Do you need a tissue?

The fact you asked, shows how much of the 'media' you rely on for public opinions...

You might run around being called a racist and a cracker for your entire life but it’s worth when that 401k kicks in and you’re able to move out of your rural upper-mid class house into the inner suburbs.

You are more likely to insulted that’s for sure.

I saw a shirt once that said, “I’m a cisgendered white male with nothing to apologize for. How else may I offend?” I almost bought that shirt. Almost.

3 RespuestasHere’s a better question - is anyone who selected “yes” not applicable to the title?

3 RespuestasEditado por PhreshBrotha: 5/7/2018 2:57:42 PMI don’t see how anyone could vote “yes”. I am really trying to see how but just can’t. As many have pointed out, white Christian heterosexual cis men are among the highest percentage of wealthy, and those holding high positions of most job industries in the U.S. Not to mention that there has been very very very little instances of this demographic being denied service or opportunities due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. While I will admit that this demographic is getting a lot of criticism these days, I’m not going to say they have the short end of the stick. Never heard of white Christian men getting the cops called on them for sitting in a Starbucks because their being white and Christian and a man made them “suspicious

1 RespuestaReally, they make up majority of government, majority of corporate positions, majority of college students, and possess majority of the wealth. Sure seems like their doing fine to me.
-
22 RespuestasNope. Some libs might be douchbags to them but that's hardly a comparison to what minority people may encounter.
-
Socially, sure. But barely, nothing significant. If everyone had a percentage it would be like 1% lower. As for literally anything else such as jobs, nope

well if u got a short stick then...

The way I see it, we all have the short end of the stick.

11 RespuestasEditado por Uncanny_Vale: 5/6/2018 8:41:24 PMStraight white Christian men are the richest most powerful people in society. They make up the vast majority of CEO’s, politicians and every other position of power. The idea that they have the “short end of the stick” is completely ridiculous. Just look at congress and the current president if you want proof. Look at a list of the richest people in America if you want proof. Sure minorities and women may finally be starting to catch up but they still have a very very long way to go before they have anywhere near the same amount of power and wealth as straight white men.

Pretty much, but especially the Christian part of that statement.

Do you feel the need to fight desperately for your basic rights? No. Edit: Guys, I've already reached my monthly salt intake, please no more.
-
BAHAHAHA! The amount of people who voted yes are funny.
-
Nah, only in the court of public/social media opinion. Do these guys really care about that? I doubt it. I sure wouldn't if I was one of em.
