Get rid of Faction Rally engram limit

Some may argue that the cap is there to prevent people from getting all the gear that faction offers, but I feel like factions limiting their engrams to just part of their total weapon pool already does that. There is no reason why someone shouldn't be able to get every item that they have on offer. It also means that once you've hit the cap, the event is basically over for you, and it sucks. I want to be able to grind the rally all week, but the cap feels like you actually wanted players to stop playing the event. Was the D2's design philosophy for it to be a game you just play on the side? Do your weeklies, then play other games until next week? Also, are you going to keep just adding weapons to the rotation and not removing older ones? Or are we going to not be able to get certain items again until they eventually return?

  • I agree. I've hit the cap on all three of my chars and am missing only the Class Armor slot on all three characters (Have the New Monarchy head, chest, pants, and gloves on my Hunter, same slots for Dead Orbit on my Warlock and FWC on my Titan). I find myself just stopping farming for tokens or doing very much for/with them once all I get are shaders from the turn-ins. If they expect loyal players to keep turning in for the faction they want to win, maybe those players should be rewarded with equipment and such. Also, for legendary shards and weapon parts, you can still do pretty much every other bit of content in the game. Most of the reason I have around 1k legendary shards and a good supply of weaponsmith parts coming in is because I keep going to do public events (None of the exotic engrams I've gotten have given me a Wardcliff Coil yet and I'm salted about that). Legendary shards and weaponsmith parts aren't a big deal at this point if you play with any regularity. I don't see the point in just ending the rewards from faction tokens after 30 engrams, especially since you get a ton of the shaders from those first 30 faction token engrams, too. Apparently their plan for faction equipment later on is to offer different perks on the gear. So next faction rally the same gun might have different sights and magazine/ammo types.

    • I like the idea of the faction rally but as always RNG isn't always rewarding. I've maxed out my 30 faction packages on all three of my characters and am missing one piece of armor for each of them. Boots on two and chest one the other. Some players play more than others and I feel that if you max out your packages you should at least get the whole armor or gun set. It would be nice if once you get all 30 packages it would open the faction items for purchase if you are missing a piece. Just a thought, what do you think about this idea? English

      • Reasons Why Bungie May Have Implemented the Engram Cap: 1) Keep people from farming for unlimited legendary shards after obtaining all the faction gear 2) Possible to prevent player burnout for those that can't stop playing if there is gear to be had (remember that the Weep route was not anticipated by Bungie). I'm pretty sure a lot of players were TOTALLY burnt out from PVP after the last Iron Banner because they kept grinding and grinding to get that helmet to no avail. Reasons Why the Engram Cap is Probably Not a Good Idea: 1) For many (most?), complete gear sets will not drop even after 30 engrams. If the tokens are obtained via legit farming, this is potentially 20 plus hours of work that ends in player frustration once the cap is hit. Bungie should want their players shutting off the game feeling happy if they have put in that much work. 2) Bungie really should just let the player play the game how they choose to play it. Nerfing "destroy enemy supplies" was a slap in the face for solo players. Some players just want to grind and grind and grind. Let them play the game the way they want to.
