PlayStation will not be part of Minecraft unification plans.
During their E3 press conference yesterday, Microsoft announced that Minecraft will be supporting cross-platform play, unifying players on console, mobile, Windows 10 and VR builds of the game.
The Nintendo Switch was confirmed as one of the consoles, but there was nothing on the PS4. Earlier today, Jez Cordon from Windows Central tweeted the explanation for this. Sony didn’t want in.
“RE: cross platform Minecraft. Yes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation refused.”
Expanding on the comment, he said, “Microsoft said it’s their hope for all modern versions to connect to each other. But I got separate info that Sony refused.”
Corden said he didn’t ask for comment as he doesn’t cover PlayStation, but “it’s confirmed that it won’t connect to Nintendo/Windows/Xbox versions of the game.”
Minecraft’s Aubrey Norris told GamesBeat, “We can’t speak for Sony, but as we said, we would love to have our PlayStation 4 community join our Minecraft unification plans.”
There’s plenty of speculation as to why Sony refused, and a number of comments on the cross-play feature, like this gem.
Minecraft on Xbox One will be getting the Super Duper Graphics pack for the 4K update, while the Bring Together update will take care of cross-play and ensure that all of the builds share the same content.

Lolony's doing a lot of stupid unamerican shit in recent years, the stupidest of which being denying all forms of crossplay whenever they are approached by developers with it. They refused Rocket League crossplay with Xbox, denied Minecraft Crossplay, and in a sort of similar move, denied full mod support for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Remastered, allowing only mods that just recycle/repurpose existing content within the game already and not allowing any additional content to be added.
Why would Sony shoot themselves in the foot like this? I have no idea why they'd think their customers want this. I assure you, they don't want this. They want more people to play with, more content to enjoy from other versions of the game. They want a Mario Minecraft skin on their PS4 version. They want a Gnop theme on there. They want to be able to play with their friends on other platforms. But Sony just says "nope" and is completely stubborn and won't budge.
Why is Lolony so bad?

14 RespuestasIf anybody understood how businesses worked you'd understand how dirty a move this is by Microsoft. If you honestly think Microsoft wants cross play because of their customers then you seriously need to wake up. So let's break this down. At the end of the day these two companies are in it for the money. That's it. Not for the customers. For money. So Sony is dominating the console market right now while Microsoft isn't. So Microsoft comes in and says they want cross play. Why would Sony agree to this? It goes completely against their business and helps their biggest competitor. They would only be hurting their bottom line. So of course they would disagree. Now Microsoft has nothing to lose. They aren't winning in the console market so they need to figure out a way to boost sales. So how do they do it? They box in Sony by disguising it as caring for the customer. If Sony agrees then they sell more console and make more money. If Sony declines then it makes Sony look anti gamer. Causing more people to go to Xbox. If you bothered doing some thinking on this then it would be obvious that Microsoft is doing this strictly to boost sales and hurt Sony. It's a dirty move by Microsoft and I guarantee you'll see more things like this down the line.

Don't forget Rocket League
“The honest answer is PlayStation has not yet granted us permission," Psyonix VP of Publishing Jeremy Dunham told Polygon regarding the reason for the Rocket League's cross-platform block on PS4. Since Psyonix runs its own servers and since those servers have already been certified for Microsoft's strict technical and security requirements for tying in to Xbox Live, adding PS4 is "literally something we could do with a push of a button, metaphorically," he added. "In reality it’s a webpage with a checkbox on it. All we have to do is check that box and it would be up and running in less than an hour all over the world. That’s all we need to do.”
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/06/sony-continues-to-block-cross-platform-play-for-rocket-league-minecraft/

Sony seems like the kid that everyone wants to get to know because he seems cool, but he's always angry and pushes everyone away.

16 RespuestasFor those saying, "It's only minecraft lol" You realize this is Microsoft's way of testing cross-play, so Sony refusing is going to hurt them heavily if Microsoft and Nintendo continue to release more cross-play games.

Who gives a flying -blam!-? It's Minecraft, shit should be a Nintendo exclusive. 😂

Editado por Unforgiven: 6/15/2017 2:43:03 PMIsn't Minecraft charging money for customizations that are player made now? This whole cross play is just to encourage more micro transactions. Really? Those pixelated little add-ons is what you kids want?

I can't believe you people! I could honestly care less about this whole thing. Suck it up and stop defending/dissing Sony and just buy Minecraft on the PC or Mac! That is where it's at anyway. The computer version is infinitely better than the console edition.

4 RespuestasEditado por SirBigWater: 6/15/2017 5:52:14 AMSo at this point, it is just Mine craft. And Sony is smart by focusing on their own stuff rather than focusing on servers that can connect to another company's servers, because at that point there is no barrier. Why buy a PS when you could get another system and still play with people on the PS system? Gaming now is a business, so them doing this is them wanting to preserve their business. I am surprised that consoles are still lasting to this day. Soon enough, it will just be another PC. It basscially is just a lower end PC. When things like this go public, it creates hate towards the company who says no. It's their property, at the end of the day they have all of the say in this matter for their side. We can complain, but at that point you should just not play on their consoles if you do not like it. You should not listen to this if you get angry. Look away.

This is only bad if you're into minecraft, I for one am not

3 RespuestasTLDR Sony makes a questionable business decision. 12 year old Xbox fanboy jumps on bandwagon and says PlayStation sucks. All because he can't play Minecraft.
-
9 RespuestasFor the crossplay you have to have a Microsoft account i.e. Xbox live, PS didn't want that, Skippy 6 did a vid after talking to some devs. There was something in there about not being able to police the whole community and not wanting to have players they couldn't reliably moderate themselves.

What are you, 9?

This is obviously all a ploy by phil spencer to get the master sword into skyrim on xbox one without locking his achievements

Might have something to do with all the PSN hacks

3 RespuestasLol all the people defending MS. MS has had opportunities in the past to do cross play, and straight up refused (FFXIV is a prime example).

1 RespuestaEditado por BFGesus: 6/14/2017 9:47:02 AMSony is ran by a bunch of pussyass bitch stakeholders who don't wanna take any risks because they're in their comfort zone. That whole thing about looking after their playerbase is bullshit.
