So I ran Crota the other night with a buddy of mine. Started fresh and worked our way to Crota. I ask, "anyone here know how to sword?" radio silent. I let them know that I can sword, but we need at least one other person to sword if we want to do challenge. Radio silent again. So I asked my buddy. He said he was trash with it, but would give it a shot.
After getting into the swing of things, we ended up two phasing Crota. My buddy did fantastic damage on phase 1 and I mopped up on phase 2. After we were done, and the randoms left, my friend said thank you for putting him on the spot and showing faith in him. He didn't think he could do it, but now knows that he can.
Point of this story is that folk should give relic/sword a try. They may surprise themselves.

People have got to realise that sword bearing now is so much easier, he doesn't jump up and instantly swipe at you anymore. You have time to run out and as long as your team is good at dealing with boomers you shouldn't have any issues with dying.

7 RespuestasI can actually relate to this completely. I've been in several raids where the leader will ask the group if they want to do a specific part, and then everyone is just silent. It can be frustrating when you're just trying to complete something, and nobody wants to step up to the plate (I feel because people are afraid of being the one to be the screw up if things go bad..but stuff happens). But there's also been times where I've stepped up to the plate (mainly in times when having to jump plates in KF) where I had never done it, and being really scared I'm gonna mess up and come out fine in the end. Sure there were mess ups. Mainly from over jumping, or people getting off plates too early, but sometimes you just gotta go with it and try to progress through.

I was forced to use relic the other day, and I can actually do it decently.
-
In general people don't want to be blamed, put on the spot, or let their team down. But if you're on a pretty chill team and no one wants to do it, then that's your cue to step up. You could be the hero that your team needed and gain experience at the same time.
-
Good job. It's like when crota dropped. Everyone didn't want to be sword. Like you can't be good at it if you you don't do it.
-
Nice story Guardian. I ran 3rd sword the other day on my Warlock and killed Crota for the first time. Wasn't pretty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvCQrJK0t40 but I got it done. We enraged him twice before trying to 2 sword him, so the 3rd time we went 3 swords. That was my 87 th Crota Raid completion too, I lost count of how many times I have run it partially. I usually just do support killing Sword Bearer, killing Boomer Knights and Witches or taking Crota down with the Gjallhorn. Interesting Tip. As my Blade Dancer wearing Dont' Touch Me gauntlets, I have soled the Abyss - Lamps part 3 times while 5 other people waited in the lit start circle. The interesting part is that if only 1 of you run it, the only major you get at the bridge is an Ogre, which takes a clip or 2 of Sniper rifle and a few rockets to kill.

1 RespuestaIt really is extremely easy now . I can do it on all 3 classes now without an issue when I would only use my hunter in year one . I found year one much harder with a good sword bearer being the key to it all. I have probably 174 completions on Crota with 99% of that being a year 1 sword bearer . RT,RT,RT-Drop sword-Blink strike-pick up sword-wait-RT,RT,RT -get out of there!!! Rinse and repeat. Sometimes I would get 4 strikes in per, sometimes not . Point is , everything was on one individual and the change is nice now. It's actually a chance for others to step up and give it a try. Believe me , it's nice when your in a group and you have multiple people that step up and say "I will" as opposed to dead silence.

7 RespuestasThat's a really kind story. Maybe, maybe I shouldn't drive the city bus off the bridge today.
-
The first time I tried running sword (last week) I took out at least 60% of his health. My whole fireteam was surprised. But my 2nd and 3rd tries were nowhere near as successful, so it must have been a fluke.
-
Why won't u want to use the relic
-
1 RespuestaI love relic running in Vault.
-
2 RespuestasA lot of people tried the sword in year 1 and were put off forever. They don't realise how easy it is now compared to back then. You have so much more time to escape his slam while he summons the oversoul. Everyone should give it a go.
-
It's freaking easy compared to what it used to be. I don't understand why people bitch out
-
I could kind of understand of being scared to run sword when Crota's End first came out. The anxiety of Crota getting up quickly/early.. In this 390 Crota's End, it's a lot more "forgiving." I'd definitely recommend people giving it a whirl, especially after the bridge, when everyone gets a sword, practice those slam spams!

4 RespuestasCrota sword is cake compared to solo blocking both teleports at templar or running and grabbing brand before the third ogre has come out of the ground on oryx.
-
3 RespuestasI mean it's kinda to the point now where if you haven't run a relic, you should, and if you're in a team where no one can or someone wants to try, you should teach them. I get that it's sort of odd that the game has been out this long and someone hasn't done sword or run gaze, but not everyone has binged the raids. Some people missed parts of the game, others took breaks to play other stuff, and others just downright never had anyone willing to show them. There's not much left to do in Destiny except the raids. Wtf else you gonna do with your 300+ completions? Still after a "quick run" for shit you've already gotten before? Help a dude out man.
-
2 RespuestasI only started playing in January but I've been learning the sword this week by necessity. Pretty hard to do the challenge when you only have one sword bearer. Every single time I tell them I'm not a good sword bearer and they're like "we need you to do it". OK, fine, but don't get mad when we wipe.
-
4 RespuestasI was on for a few hours jumping into Crota checkpoints. I thought since I was a decent sword bearer I'd assist people. I'd come in and ask if I can take the sword ofc. If they already had people I left so I can assist someone else who needs it. I'd say I'd take it first and they're like okay who's two and three 😂😂😂. I'd go up there and get him to the r and they'd be like OMG WHAT THE -blam!- DUDE NICCCCCEEEE DAMAGE. It's quite refreshing
-
5 RespuestasI think it's funny how CE was a "glorified strike" 2 months ago, but nobody wants to run sword now.
-
The problem with playing with randoms is if you have not, let's say, run sword and you're asked to do it you are pretty much on the spot and any screw ups are blatant. The people taking off crota shield can screw up and No one notices as there are 4 others covering you. No one wants to be the person causing everyone to wipe all the time so this is why you don't get many volunteers. That being said I started to run sword since the challenge modes were introduced and it really isn't so hard. Still don't run relic at templar though as I have no idea what to do with it!!

Editado por d07monkey81: 5/2/2017 6:25:24 AMThe same happened to me. My team did it the first night of the update. All throughout year one my team had a sword bearer so we sat on the ledge and fired rockets. This time however we did it in 3 phases because the 2 phase strategy hadn't been figured out yet. We had 3 sword bearers no problem but after multiple wipes we weren't getting it down. Little mistakes, crota being glitchy y'now all the good stuff that normally happens. On our successful attempt we got to the third phase and our third sword bearer dies. Who's running sword now? ....Silence... I'll do it, First time picking up the sword I managed my 6 hits to put him down to a relieved fireteam who'd been sat on the checkpoint for over 2 hours

3 RespuestasRemember that provided the swrdbearer actually knows what they are doing then if the swordbearer dies it is almost always not their fault. It will be a, rockets not being fired when asked, or b, destiny lag causing what you see on your screen not being what others are seeing on theirs. The first challenge week I went 5th swordbearer (even though I do it all the time) as everyone else was an "expert". I had to do 7 x R2 to down crota. Was just sad. Have fun and may RNG be forever in your favor.

At one point in time, we were all new to the Relics within the Raids.
I remember a time where I would use the slam attack with the Sword in the air on Crota because I would always panic when Crota had kneeled while I was still in the air. 😬
-
And also don't even dare to talk about a bad damage when you don't even dare to touch the sword.
