What I need from a Raid Team

1) I don't care what your light level is. If you can survive, I can teach you the raid. If you can't survive, your 400 means nothing. 2) It's not that you have a squeaky voice or that you're 12; it's that you won't shut the -blam- up. 3) No one wants to hang out and emote at each other while you get a pizza, load a bong, or watch a YouTube video "real quick." Be ready or GTFO. 4) I would rather teach someone how to run the sword than wait 20 minutes for your friend, the awesome swordbearer, to finish playing Trials. 5) If we wipe because someone made a simple mistake; it's not necessary to recap the entire strategy. It's super unnecessary to debate using a new strategy. If the player knows what they did wrong, just restart and try again. 6) My willingness to let players "try something" degrades over time. If we're blowing through, I want someone new to run relic/sword for experience. If we've been here for 2 hours, it's time to lock it up and get it done. 7) Do not strafe when everyone is firing rockets! Stand still! 8) I'm not going to call you out for using a stupid weapon. I used to run raids with the dumbest weapons I could think of, just because. But if someone else calls you out for using a shotgun to damage Warpriest, I won't feel sorry for you. 9) If the team needs to call Oracles, Servitors, Oryx slamming, etc. This is not story time. This is not time for you to serenade us or crank up the Weeknd so that we can all enjoy it. Shut up and listen for your cue. We can all jam out to your crappy music on the way to the tower. 10) All that cool Osiris gear is just going to make me extra disappointed in you for breaking the rules above. Edit: Thank you so much for all the responses. If only my novels could get this kind of response! Anyways, some of the players who replied seem to be getting their panties in a twist over this list of demands. I added "#funny" up top to help some of our slower members realize this is a HUMOROUS post. Also there seems to be a lot of concern over my low number of raid completions. Although no one has given me a specific requirement, I apparently haven't done enough raids. These erudite posters have forced me to make a very startling admission about myself that will undoubtedly shed light on my lack of completions:
Destiny isn't the only thing in my life.
If you liked this post, please check out my articles on Planet Destiny. I have weapon reviews and my infamous "Rejected Grimoire Cards." Trigger Warning: If you're the type who feels like I don't have enough experience to write about Destiny, you're probably going to get pretty butt hurt over my audacity to review exotics, too.

  • I agree with all of this. Especially about squeakers, I can not stand the constant blabbering. It gets in the way of important call outs and I feel like it hinders the entire team. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for everybody playing and having fun, but when someone's disruptive behaviour, intentional or not, is ruining everyones fun then it's booting time for the bad one.

  • I have to say that I generally agree. In summary, just common sense and common courtesy. One of my big things is especially if you are new, you MUST be willing to be humble and LISTEN to directions and FOLLOW the plan/strat. Don't be contrary and trying to do your own thing/not pay attention. I'm all for suggestions, they improve the efficiency from time to time, but if you can't even commit to one strat, how are you going to commit to a new one? If I gather my regular raid group and we LFG the 6th, you better be ready to follow OUR plan and rhythm. If I LFG to join someone else's raid group, I know that I will have to adapt to the plan and rhythm of that team, even more so if no one knows each other. But ultimately the rule of thumb for me is to listen and don't be a jerk.

          • You are so right. So last night spent around 3 to 4 hrs on Oryx and never got it done. Dudes on plates not grenading the ogres, plate guys not killing their knight, guys in the middle who didn't know where 4 knight spawns, guys in the middle who didn't have touch and swore it wasn't needed, guys who ran out the aura to kill knights and died, guys who couldn't follow an instruction to shoot Oryx, just about any and everything you can do to mess up. All that seemed to go right is our runners where doing a good job getting relic. I stayed because at some point you figure it will all come together and we will get it done. It didn't.

            • This post speaks to me so much. As someone who is 99% of the time the person telling people where to go and what to do this is all I want, it's not that difficult. The only thing I don't agree with is I will call you out for not using a good weapon to damage a boss. You come wanting to do kings fall and your highest impact sniper is praydeths revenge(some guy I did the raid with yesterday) just no go get black spindle you can literally do that quest whenever. Also if you don't know what to do just say so, don't let us wipe a bunch while you figure it out. I would rather explain a fight then you lie we wipe a bunch then I have to explain it or you leave because you are embarrassed that we found out you don't know what you are doing.

Things I need from a raid team: 1. Preferably no squeakers unless they're cool and don't get pissed at everything, also don't scream really loud. 2. If people call you out for mic echo, FIX IT. (Short story time: need doom of chelcis. Start fresh with group. Two kids. Not that annoying, but kind of. One has mic that would echo ANYTHING, and I mean anything, multiple times. It sounded like a cave. We told him to fix or turn down TV, he didn't. Failed many totems, I left. Morale of the story: use a headset and don't have your tv turned up. Story time over.) 3. If I say "know what to do" in my post, I'd rather not have somebody come in who doesn't know anything. It's fine if your willing to learn though. 4. Please god, don't vape into your mic. (True story) 5. If you put know what to do in your post, know what to do yourself. 6. Don't blame others for your mistakes. 7. If you are told to do something, do it, unless you physically can't. 8. Don't have your mic in your mouth. 9. DO NOT SCREAM 10. Be me if you can (barely die, don't be loud, admit your mistakes, actually be good at PvE, don't rage quit) (true story) 11. I don't care what guns you use, as long as you do decent damage and don't die. 12. Don't be 375 in a 390 raid. (True story) 13. Don't leave for 30 minutes (again, true story) 14. Don't randomly yell to people in your family or talk to people around you. That is what the mute button on you mic is for. 15. Don't talk with a Kinect (xbox only) 16. Don't say you know what to do and not actually know. 17. Don't make long lists on the internet. 18. Don't get super pissed at other people when they make a mistake. 19. Have at least a little patience(and time) 20. For the love of god, don't pop a synth after damaging warpriest and then die like an idiot. (Warpriest specific) 21. Always spew outdated memes like there's no tomorrow. 22. Don't say Atheon with a soft A. (Looking at you speaker) 23. Don't lie about how good you are (nobody's as good as me) 24. Don't play music (unless it's dragonforce or other good music) 25. Don't fall asleep on your mic (I'm looking at you Dom) 26. And last of all, don't get political. It's a video game, stop it.

                    • Why people strafe while the whole team is shooting the boss? I wish i can magicly punch them behind the head when they do that.. - people that say guys give me 15-20 minutes to smoke, take the dog out, eat etc, when I hear that I leave party and game quick.

                    • Why is everyone saying OP as only -Idontcare- number of raid completions? If you succeed a raid one time and have a good memory, you know what to do. OP has made, in my opinion, solid points and whatever you think, to go on someone's profile to see how many completions he/she might have to make a point is... childish

I'll raid with my cool Osiris pharaoh/mummy gear if I bloody well want to. But other, I agree with all your rules. Edit: ugh, your raid completions though, really don't give you the right to be bossy...

                      • No 5 is an important one. So many players freak out when we do everything right but someone accidentally dies, or drops the sword in Crota, or relic holder misses their jump at Oryx. Then they want to change strat or swap out the runner with someone else. For crying out loud, if you LFG you need to accept that a few mistakes will happen, changing things up only means that you'll make new mistakes. Stick to the plan and after 3-4 tries you should get it done. If the same mistake happens multiple times, then rethink your approach.
