As our Age of Triumph gets closer with each passing day, I am once again filled with memories of Year One. My brother and I started playing in November 2014. We had so much fun & to this day we still suppress the darkness. I remember stumbling upon the spire in Venus. I saw a few people jumping around so I went with them. I then saw them open the huge door. The Gate. Unlike anything I've seen before. That is when I was gripped. I wanted more than just the nightfall. I wanted to be the very best. Like no one ever was. To slay raids was my real test; to wipe was not My cause. So I traveled across the worlds, searching far and wide. Alongside my brother. We completed the Vault of Glass. The accomplishment I felt I haven't experienced in a while in video games. We became complacent. We got comfortable knowing we had mastered Destiny.
Then the Moon awakened, and with it. The scourge of light. Crota. A new challenge was upon us. Yet this one felt different. Was it fear? I think it was. Moving forward Slaying his generals and discovering his chamber, was a sight. I'll tell you that much. When we summoned crota, we simply said let's burn him to the ground. Like everyone else before him. As we all know it was not that simple. For we had to take his own weapon and use it against him. Many of the guardians I went with were scared of this. Scared to fail. Scared to wipe. Even my brother was among those ranks. I look to him and he looks to me. That is the moment I became the Sword Bearer. I gave up on fear and relinquished all doubt in my mind. Someone had to do it. That is when I felt the same feeling I felt in VOG. Accomplishment. My whole team relying on me. If I was to fail. It was certain doom for all of us. With that on the back of my mind, we went forward. We took the Sword Bearer out & his sword laid out in front of me. I run past it as my team wonders if I grabbed a hold of it. I did. As I'm running to the iconic rocks I am counting down. My brother taking care of the boomers as if to keep me safe. 3...2...1... Fire. I hear the Rockets whiz past me. I am up with Crota. He is staring at me, a Mortal. Versus an otherworldly being with immense power; A Demi-God. Then suddenly he drops to his knees. Of course we all know it had to be done a few times. But I wanted to highlight the very first time. It was an experience to this day I hope I can relive on the 28th.
tldr; Nostalgia is a great thing. Destiny lacked in story but it made up with the fun times I had & the people I've meet. Hope to see you all in the D2 beta. Guardian out.

I remember looking at the Vanilla Vanguard armor for the Hunter and feeling really intimidated by the people that had it because it took so long to get rank 3.

2 RespuestasI just want my year 1 clan back. 😔

6 RespuestasI'm calling it right now, exotic auto rifles the two best ones will be suros and Necro, and maybe hardlight. Suros, because it's suros it used to be the king of the crucible, and with the last buff to auto rifles and the new buff coming in, we might see a return of the king. Hardlight, because it has no damage falloff, if you can control that recoil the buff in damage is only going to help it. And finally my personal favorite, necrochasm. It is the only high rate of fire auto that can increase its own damage without hurting its own fire rate, because instead of scopes it has ballistics. It may not rule the crucible, but in pve this thing is going to be the new fatebringer

Glorious times my friend.

3 RespuestasUnfortunately I don't have a team of six friends to do these raids. I would often have to beg other people which turned out poorly in the end. Hopefully I can get a good team to do these raids :)

Snuck a little Pokémon reference in there ay?
-
Its not year 1 nostalgia, but its pretty nostalgic. Year 1 nostalgia, was discovering new things, earning loot after countless hours of screaming and pain, making tons of friends along the way. This will pretty close, since I hope the old squad comes back so we can do the raids again

5 RespuestasYou mean you're actually excited about doing the same content over again?

1 RespuestaWhen I this journey began I started as nothing more then a lone Warlock moving my way to Max leveled. I adventure across Earth, the Moon, Venus, and then Mars. I came into contact with hostile Alien species, all failed to stop my Light. I finally came into contact with the Vex's Dark God and after destroying its protectors I had cleansed the galaxy of one more blight. The Vault of Glass then opened I with my friends braved it's depths, fighting off hordes of the Time Traveling Robots. We pushed off the Templar, we braved the treacherous paths and defeated Atheon. I obtained Fatebringer my first play through. Then came Crota, a demi god of amazing power, he threatened to overtake us all. I cut down his commanders, I destroyed the crystal with his soul, then I with my friends braved it again and ended him with his sword and a hail of Rocket fire. Time passed, and a new threat emerged from the Reef, the Queen lost control of her Wolves, I helped them, I tracked down Skolas I helped capture him, then I faced him with two others finally ending him in one of the most stressful fights I have played. Soon however The Taken King Oryx arrived seeking vengeance bringing a new terrifying army. I followed Caydes direction, got aboard the ship and faced him alone. I bested him but he merely retreated. Once again I braved the ship with my comrades. We fought every between us and Oryx. We defeated the King and watched his corpse float away. The world seemed to be at peace, before the Fallen once again started Striking out. Lord Saladin himself tasked me with clearing infestation of Fallen. However this new threat SIVA was found a threat long forgotten, I work with my allies to assault the SIVA stronghold, I fought the reanimated Iron Lords. I emerged victorious and was anointed a Iron Lord. After facing many threats in the Plaugelands, I once again raided the Splicers lair, killed the priest, destroyed their Zambonie, and finally faced Aksis and after a mighty battle defeated him as with all the others. This game has stuck with me for 3 years. I had friends drop it, say they hate it, then come crawling back for no go reason. I met new friends, I have numerous experiences that fully payed back the money I spent. Bungie you continue to stay my favorite developer and the amount of fun times I have had. I love this game and it's been very successful.

1 RespuestaFor people like me who don't suffer from the affliction some call "nostalgia", this update is of no interest to me
-
I think I can see the big problem that's going to happen after the update. People are going to expect to get that "year 1 feeling" back. The feeling we got where everything was new and we were still discovering things in the game and wondering what we were going to get next Well, I don't think we are going to get that feeling back just by getting the old raids back. When the players realise that, then the disappointment will set in.

Well, wadda we got here, cuppa nostalgic memories...
