For those of us who hate the "losing special on death" meta: ball's in our court.

Bungie has made it very clear that they've declined to change the Crucible rule that causes us to lose special ammo upon death. I wish it were not so, but it is. We have, the way I see it, five choices on how to deal with it, assuming we wish to continue with this game. 1. Capitulation. It seems to me that Bungie's intent on making this widely disliked change persist is to pressure the players into maining primary weapons by making the alternative an exercise in frusatration. They've certainly succeeded in the latter, but we can choose whether or not to give the bully what he wants. It's certainly a vianble option: pull out your primary, use a sidearm (as backup only of course). Try to make the best of things. Ironically, though I was already mainly a primary user, I expect I will have trouble with this one. While I respond well to friendly persuasion, it is in my nature to resist being forced to do anything. And since Bungie has kept this change in place despite the overwhelming negatve response, it is clear that that is their intent. They've twisted the players' arms, and the majority of players have meekly gone to their primaries. 2. Resistance: Snipers gotta snipe and shottie users gotta shoot. Get out that Invective, that Ice Breaker, that No Land Beyond. Or, make regaining special ammo your top priority. Spark runner need protecting? Zone C being captured? A bunch of red crests need recapturing? Well, it'll have to wait until I find a green crate without a timer on top of it. Sorry, team. Of course, I'll still expect you to act as meatshields for me while I search for that special crate. After all, it's not like I'm going to fight the enemy myself without special ammo! Sadly, this one probably won't be fun, and it won't win you very many friends. But it's an option for all that. 3. Diplomacy: This was by far the best option, as far as I could tell. Tell Bungie how we feel. Explain why we feel that way. Be calm. Be rational. Be polite. Promote alternatives that would keep our special reliable while reducing its ability to supplant the primary. Show that we sympathized with what they were trying to do, and had given it thought ourselves. I tried this. So did many others. We were not successful. Whether it will be worth pursuing further will depend on if Bungie intends to tweak the meta between now and when Destiny effectively sunsets, with the rise of D2. 4. Vitriol: We're seeing a lot of this, and I can understand why. The PvP meta is the most toxic I've ever seen. For me, Crucible matches are all too often an ordeal, a brutal grind for loot in a game mode that's about as fun as being waterboarded. I expect a lot of you feel as I do. So yes, we want to call Deej and his associates all manner of dirty names, make insinuations about their dietary habits, sexual quirks, or family relationships. We feel hurt and betrayed and want to hurt back. Skip this one. Please. I'm angry too, believe me. But this doesn't do any of us any good. 5. Abdication: Simple. Do not fight in the Crucible. No more red bounties. No more match of the day. With the wealth of PvE content that's headed our way, the Crucible may have officially become far more trouble than it's worth. Honestly, I don't believe that this action will have any positive effect, but at least it will spare us a whole lot of misery. If you can do this, I'd seriously consider it. You can't stop the Crucible from being what it us, but you can avoid being negatively affected by it. Bungie has made their choice. Now we must make ours.
