Edit: I could NOT BE ANY HAPPIER WITH THIS POST. We've been top 5 trending for several hours. Lots of opinions and conversations flowing. Salt has been kept at a wonderfully low level. I love when the community can come together and really talk things out. This is what destiny needs, and I'm so thankful and proud of every one here for being so passionate about the game we all love! So, lets talk about the sidearm, and it's overbearing presence in the crucible.
First off I'd like to state the obvious fact that sidearms are NOT OP and were quite rare before the update, aside from nlb users, and our dear friends TrueVanguard and Kjhovey.
Their TTK's range from a minimum of .6 to a maximum of .96 dependant on archetype and headshots landed. As impressive as that sounds their range holds them in a balanced position as powerful short ranged duelers, meant for back up and shotgun countering purposes, and work exactly as they should.
Now, and this is only my opinion, the distaste for sidearms at the moment isn't because of their power, it's simply that the ammo economy forces us into using them. A sidearm has the ability to over power any primary with ease, within its optimal range.
When you have no special, being a common occurrence in the current state of things, you are simply at a disadvantage to a sidearm user.
Ammo persists, more ammo is reimbursed on respawn if empty, and as it seems all this points to MORE slaying potential. This forces many into a position of "use this or do worse."
Did you enjoy being an aggressive sniper, despite the horrid nerfs? A shotty warrior maybe? Maybe you were that elusive fusion main who loves to go for crazy plan c swaps, or cross map people with a saladins. Maybe you feel upset that your aggressive playstyles were almost taken from you entirely, especially in the 6v6 playlist. You have every right to be. Because forcing someone into a style of gameplay they don't enjoy IS NOT BALANCE. It is a lazy and unprofessional attempt to stir the pot.
Bad move bungie. You may have forced primary fights, but you've removed a large portion of the fun for many.

Most of it was simple math based on stats/spread sheets for the sake of manufacturing the probability of success for more players. The legs of the short and long games were chopped off for most players, shortening the playing field, and the one hit kills now greatly reduced across the board. These changes push most players toward a more forgiving neutral middle ground. That's the patch in a nutshell. Only the folks that want to believe they woke up better players overnight will disagree.

1 RespuestaGreat post - I'm still running shotty but pretty much feel I'll HAVE to hang up my Dedries Retort, Pretty much all my friends snipe and have moved to either NLB/sidearm or palindrome/ice breaker I can't work out why side arms have not been included in the changes - it makes no sense to me
-
They negate the special ammo change that is all If they would only have ammo from their perk after death then they will still be good but then they won't negate the ammo change.

3 RespuestasI don't know how i explain that but what if when you have 14 rounds for your matador and you die you lose not all rounds and when you respawn you have 5rounds or less But when you have 0 ammo you get nothing Side arms lose all their ammo but remain with a little bit and even remain with 18-21 rounds after respawn Sorry for ma language

14 RespuestasThe meta is people using the easiest, effective and most efficient way of securing the kill. People who don't like shotguns in the last meta were picking up shotguns because of how strong they were. Sidearms have replaced shotguns. Sidearms are a secondary weapon, so they are powerful.
-
I think an idea would be to spawn sidearms with two clips. One in the gun and the second in inventors (ammo boosting armor can bring it to 3) excess ammo from special boxes with not carry over through death. This will keep players from using sidearms as handcannons the whole match.

3 RespuestasEditado por Hot Tasty Grits: 2/21/2017 1:13:48 AMI could care less about sidearms . Add flinch to No land and watch how fast that weapon gets abandoned . It won't matter how much ammo they have . It's -blam!-ing ridiculous right now .
-
Don't care, I've a 2 burst Partheon Shot and Icebreaker, love this new patch.
-
3 RespuestasHere's my thoughts. Deadly in the right hands but in mine completely useless. Because I suck with side arms...

You should be the new CEO!

I do like using shotguns a lot, but ever since I got my Vestian Dynasty, back during HoW, I've loved sidearms. I liked using them, because they were kind of like a little "secret" among the ones that knew how good they are, but now everyone's using them. So now, anyone who uses them, is starting to be called a "scrub", or whatever term kids are using these days. It went from, "You're seriously going to use a sidearm? Ok... Ha ha!" to "Your sidearm is a crutch" in just one patch. It sucks for us that have always enjoyed using them, because using one now gets you called a scrubby sheep, that uses a crutch. All I can do is just shake my head, and say, "What?"
-
I was using sidearms before they were meta so I'm fine with the increased usage. However, I don't feel sidearms should be completely exempt from the secondary ammo economy. I'd rather they got a buff and succumbed to the economy than stand apart (as a sort of "tactical buff").

1 RespuestaI want to be rewarded for beating a player that has Special Ammo with my primary. Instead of having all of their ammo vanish into existence, make them drop some of it. This'll make using a Sidearm (Which shouldn't keep all of their ammo on death tbh)/Invective/Ice Breaker more of a risk vs. reward since you feed the enemy team ammo every time you die.

Editado por Sopranovic: 2/21/2017 9:01:17 AMHave played a couple of times since the patch went live. I think its pretty fun running Finnala's Peril with Ironwreath-D. Used that loadout in Rumble yesterday and i won 2 out of the 3 games i played with my warlock. It went pretty well if i say so myself :) Before the patch i only had 40 kills total in PVE and zero in PVP with sidearms. Those kills came from Vestian dynasty during HoW. Never fired a single shot with sidearms since then until a couple af days ago lol
-
Been saying it since the patch, sidearms should revert back to their base ammo that you spawn in with on death. That gives you what, around 18 ammo without ammo perks? Enough for 1-2 kills. I find it more annoying in 3s where teams can be very aggressive with sidearms and have enough time to collect special. Constantly keeping 100+ ammo, even on death.
-
I have always sniped, some metas make it harder than others but snipers and hand canons will always be my weapons of choice and I will never be "forced" to use otherwise.
-
I don't play anymore bu tf my view is this: if shotguns, snipers and fusions have no ammo when u die, neither should sidearms. Sidearms are in the same category, they do not deserve special treatment.
-
Pretty balanced, but the special ammo removal at death should also apply.
-
Crucible is being -blam!- by -blam!-ing bullshit hunters and sidearms, snipers and hand cannons. This game is at an all time low. -blam!- it.
-
NERF THEM TO THE GROUND
-
Next patch should nerf side arms. Honestly, at this point, just remove secondary weapons.
-
Well said exactly how I feel. Forced into sidearm. Special ammo gone on death is stupid. Makes you choose sidearm to counter .
-
Just let sidearms lose ammo like other specials on death But always respawn with a clip or two of ammo? Maybe? Idk
-
They should at the very least give sidearms that base 18 rounds on resurrection, instead of stocking up 120 rounds. I mean, I love sidearms, but I always feel like it's a little much.
Aliens
They're balanced, they've pretty much always been like this, it's just Bungie made it more prominent with Bungie's new special ammo (insert good weather term here) Making them more prominent as they don't lose any ammo.
