Destiny 2 Needs More Focus On QUALITY PvE Content

Please bump if you agree with what is said below. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. ------------------------------------------------- One of the biggest problems with Destiny from day 1 has been the lack of story and in game lore, and that's still the case. So why is Bungie focusing so much on all of the PvP feedback and not really doing much in PvE. Yeah, they're fixed some PvE problems, and that's great, but this game has become much too focused on PvP. Destiny was not meant to be a mainly PvP game, and sadly that's what's happened. If we truly want Destiny 2 to be an improvement, the focus must be on PvE. The original idea of Destiny, the one that built massive hype and won over E3 when it debuted was a game full of exploring, fighting mysterious enemies of the darkness and saving humanity, not an idea of a broken sandbox full of sweaties taking money from less skilled players just to win some PvP matches to get rare gear. That's not what this game was meant to be, nor what it should be. The potential is still there. Destiny could be a game changer, a standard of excellence that other developers would strive to achieve. It could be great. But none of it happens unless attention is taken away from PvP, not completely, but taken away and put towards a great story, mind blowing lore, and an amazing PvE experience that's worth coming back to again and again. Side note: If PvE and PvP tuning was done separately, I believe PvE players would feel less neglected. EDIT: Thank you for all of the support, this is amazing. I hope it's enough to get recognized by Bungie so they realize what the community really wants.

  • To be honest, we already have the quality content like the older raids but it's doesn't matter if the drops are still stuck with year 1 light levels. So to improve the quality in destiny 2 keep all end game content relevant.

  • You know what I have always wanted in Destiny...being able to play the lore! Excuse my knowledge of the lore in this post. I have always thought a cool way to do an exotic quest would be like this... Helm of Saint-14 There is some lore here that I am not really sure of. This is just an example. But I thought it would be cool if you could play a 3-4 story mission as Saint-14. It explores the lore of his achievements and maybe his demise. Obviously he was a Defender. So you play his class specific set up. Once complete...you then start a quest as your own character...maybe a 2-3 story mission that culminates you finding his exotic helmet and equipping it for a fight that is uniquely designed to let you really get the feel for that exotic. Maybe in a dark pit with a lot of thrall chasing you and a mayhem type perk for a ton of bubbles to blind the attacking thrall. Once you complete that...the exotic is yours for good. A lot of lore and exotics can be explored that way. And not just exotics, but stories of lore. Another example. After the first time you beat VoG. It would have been cool to have a separate mission that allows you to play as Kabr's fireteam. Maybe you play as Kabr and the rest of the fireteam is just NPCs that you fight along with. Maybe it ends with Kabr dying. Once you complete this though, the next time you run VoG...you know where he died. So maybe you go there and find a special item. An artifact you can wear, his ghost shell, or an armor piece/weapon. The only way to acquire this item is to play the lore quest first. Stuff like this would really give life to the adventure and a sort of meaning that is only apparent to the most hardcore fans dedicated to exploring lore in the grimoire. I personally would love this and I bet a lot of others would too. Playing as your own character can get boring. Exploring the rich lore by playing as these legends themselves would just be fun!

      Let's just start a list. Destiny 2 needs: An actual story Dedicated servers Player trading (excluding exotic/ unique weapons) Actual balance between weapons, subclasses etc. Intricate boss mechanics, not bullet sponges Better loot system (not a grind fest) Larger pvp maps(this is why shotguns r so dominant) Ingame recruitment system Better way of presenting lore (maybe an ingame grimoire system) Tougher punishments for cheaters (ddosing lagswitching etc.) CBMM Keeping all content relevant (when they released TTK and all yr1 weapons became practically useless) Agreed with op, need better pve feedback Not nerfing everything when it's time for a "rebalance" Overhaul of the weapon perks system. Let the game run at 60fps More locations Larger fireteams (maybe 8-10 people) Better character development (cayde was a start) More focus on endgame content Rotating vendor rolls More guardian vehicles Let us actually fly our ships A larger emphasis on factions Better character creator options Armed sparrows, vehicles etc. (like a summonable Pike) Custom arms day weapons Fewer reskins , give us something new I will be editing this.       • Pve died when bungie murdered any replay value with 3 of coins and quests to hand out exotics . Why would I grind the same thing over and over when they everything is handed to me right away. All endgame content becomes pointless within a month . Pvp keeps this game alive and that's all now

      • Destiny 2 needs to be on PC with a creative tool for the community. The only way games that don't come out every year survive is by creative tools the community can use to create content and ideas and then later on the developers can add it as an official dlc or content. Blizzard has always managed to keep games alive for so long because of two things. Creative tools and constant updates. They are talking about adding creative tools too overwatch that will probably make the game even more popular then it is right now and keep it alive till the next overwatch game in 10 years like starcraft. Unless bungie decides they don't want to expand their community they need to allow the creative minds to create content for the players and yes only on PC since consoles have to much issues and can be use for cheating. Sort of like bo3 community zombie maps that are only on PC.

        • The OP never said that PVP is pointless. The OP was merely stating that should not be the main focus. Even the most diehard PVPer has to admit, Destiny was sold as a game that was about fighting back the darkness, saving humanity, reclaiming the galaxy. Not about Humanity's saviors shooting each other to death. Even Lore wise, the Crucible is meant to be a training ground for fighting the enemies. But even the Iron Lords felt fighting each other was not the way. (Hence Saladin & Shaxx's difference in opinion.) Yet we have Iron Banner...as PVP...cause that makes sense. Many logical PVPers hit the nail on the head. Bungie dropped the ball on PVE so they took the easy way out and focused on PVP.

        • A focus on PvE is what I want, but it still needs to be solo player friendly too. I think we are at a good place as far as that goes. There are multiple paths to top light now (something that came quite late in this game's updates) and this is the most accessible to all types of players the game has ever been. I think that's great. As a solo player, this has been the most fun I've had in the whole Y1,2,3. I don't raid, so I miss out on raid gear. Fine, fair enough. At least I still have plenty of ways to get 400 light gear. I actually got quite annoyed and sick of Destiny in Y1 because it was so hard to get any decent gear and raise your light without raiding. I think they've also shown they could open up things like nightfalls and challenge of elders to matchmaking. You should choose when you load up an activity, fireteam or matchmaking, problem solved for everyone. Hopefully the accessibility that has come this late in Destiny continues on into destiny 2. If Destiny 2 is the drag Destiny Y1 was, I don't think I'll be partaking. Also things like SRL and Iron Banner have added some depth and upgrade paths open to both fireteam and solo players. Another great decision.

          • I may get flamed for this but if they made the loot system more like The Division, the game would be better. Exotic tier is just stronger than legendary, looks cooler, but are otherwise "standard" weapons. But within the exotic drop tier, you have the named weapons like TLW or Red Death. I feel like it'd make getting exotics, especially named ones, way more fun feeling

              I'd like the first raid's loot system in Destiny 2 to be like VoG and not WoTM. The loot being mediocre at best from WoTM and then having the raid exotic be a silly quest and not a hardmode drop like vex mythoclast and on top of that having chests to get more loot was really stupid IMO. VoG had it perfect but I understand WoTM isn't terrible and the raid was slightly rushed. I just wanted to give my two cents on how the loot should work. [spoiler]Also, I liked it better when the loot just popped up and not out of engrams in chests/from the boss. Don't know if others agree but I just prefer it that way :3[/spoiler]

                Just going to say that I won't be buying Destiny 2. Have fun wasting your money and complaining on the boards, discussing what needs to change and watching as the years go by how none of it does. for several more years lads! Lol But I guess discussing it was always more fun since at it's core the game is bad but only with nice trimmings.

                  Open voice chat in all zones, auction house for extra items, limited trading between players, unlimited glimmer, more vault space...did I say open voice chat in all zones? Yes please and more RPG elements please, world events and make lasting changes depending on outcomes...more intelligent NPC's, open world npc's...limit xur from selling the best gear...reward skills and hugs:)

                  • Destiny 2 needs a world like The Witcher 3. Open, full of quests, sidequests, Treasure Hunts, Bounties etc along with Beastiary-like Grimoire in game.

                      Ouch 3580 vs 177 want more quality PvE content... hope this is enough for you guys and bungie to understand that we DO NOT want more generic CoD PvP shoved down our throats. Also Bungie could learn from DOOM at how gore and fast paced gameplay made killing demons so entertaining while also incorperating a background and main story without having to take away from something else.

                        • There are a few things I never got over the past few years PVE wise. It's not stuff I can't do without, but stuff I would rather still have. The first is Black Hammer. I can't stress enough how much I loved the thing. I was soloing nightfall this week and once I got to the Siva Walker, it occured to me. I was wrecking these things for fun with my BH before and it feels disappointing to take longer to kill the damn thing now than it did before. I feel nerfed, I feel weak, I feel like my legend was robbed. It feels like driving a GTR for a year and then being forced to drive a Ford Fiesta. I'm not even going to go into elemental primaries because it's depressing all this content got shelved just to feed the grind!
