Its a competitive race! Any idiot can drive a sparrow through a gate unhindered. It would be boring and there would almost be no way to improve your position in the race since all sparrows have the same stats. Ever played Mario Kart? Twisted Metal? Split Second? Star Wars Podracer? If you want to race without getting bumped, go play with your sparrow in patrol
