All Christmas songs have sucked and will continue to suck. I prefer the remakes normally because they're less dreary and less Christian

Christmas is a Christian holiday so complaining about the music that celebrates the birth of the founder of the religion is rather pointless.
-
Christmas was originally a pagan tradition. Christians then slapped christ on it. Now it's not even religious, it's represented by santa no Jesus
Christmas was originally a pagan tradition. Christians then slapped christ on it.
CHRISTmas was a pagan holiday? No. True, Pagan winter festivals and celebrations came first, but none of those were Christmas and modern day Pagans will be the first to tell you that. Christmas was established by the Catholic Church to be celebrated during those winter festivals both to give Christians something to celebrate and to make the conversion of Pagans easier.
Now it's not even religious, it's represented by santa no Jesus
That depends on who you ask. There are still plenty of people who celebrate the religious aspect of the holiday.
-
But it was always a religious holiday
-
So was Halloween. It's now a western holiday more about lollies and costumes than spirits and corpses.
-
But Christmas still has a strong Christian background. Making it still a religious holiday
-
But Christmas still has a strong Christian background. Making it still a religious holiday
It doesn't. It's more about sales, blockbuster, summer, holidays, santa, the grinch, presents. Once China starts celebrating your holiday you know it isn't about religion
-
Not quite. Yes, Dec. 25th is the date of many pagan holidays. Now, the church knew that its members in formally pagan area would continue to celebrate these holidays because, well, people like to party. What they did was set up Christmas on the same day so that these Christians could celebrate a Christian holiday instead. Yes, there are some symbolic carryovers from these past religion, but that is to be expected. As a side note, Santa Claus is modeled after Saint Nicholas, an bishop in the 4th century. His life is actually very interesting and worth researching if you ever get bored.
-
Part of saint nicks biography goes into how he brought three children who were chopped up back to life. Christians today don't even see him as anything special, just another priest
-
How would you know what Christians think of Saint Nicholas? Plenty of us still honor his feast day
-
I was a Christian a majority of my life. Probably longer than you have
-
Does that automatically make you more knowledgeable in religion?
-
Yes, that's why I'm not religious. Once you understand it, you despise it.
-
You must have been a very weak Christian to think like that
-
Maybe. Maybe you're the weak one. Too scared about any other possibility other than an all loving god.
-
I'm not scared of being wrong, I'm scared of being right
-
I'm not scared of being wrong, I'm scared of being right
Woah, I didn't realise I was talking to Aristotle. You're a great philosopher. What do you have to fear? That you'll spend eons in a black mirror esc utopia. Where the leader murdered your ancestors
-
I'm not fearing for my sake, I'm fearing for your sake and others like you This is our supposed eternal fate, we're talking about. It could be real, and it could not be real. If it's not real, well we have nothing to worry about. But what if it is real? There really could be a place we go after we die. Thing is, I care about other people's souls. I want them to go to heaven, but sometimes I can't change their minds and they walk away. And that pains me to know they have an idea we could have an eternal fate, but they ignore. Mostly because I think they're scared, or very devoted to their ideas Cheesy and as stupid as it sounds, we've all thought about it. I can't understand why people ignore it
And it was pagans, English royalty, unjust laws, and hatred that killed my ancestors

I like sounding like a philosopher.....Most times
Believing you could rot in hell or even live forever. I get to die knowing I'll get some peace and quiet
Thing is, I care about other people's souls. Editado por RevenantsShadow: 12/8/2016 11:10:59 PMI give a shit about your soul and where you go. I would prefer not to see you rot in hell, but whatever floats your boat of "rest and peace" God warned all those people what was going to happen multiple times, yet they chose to ignore and mock Him Eternal fate in heaven is rewarding, eternal fate in hell is punishment for ignorance Most people are scared of eternity because they know they've done something wrong, and they want to get away with it by "rest and peace" In all honesty, I just got out of a religious debate earlier, and have no means of running into another Better to sound like a philosopher rather than a rambling idiot. Hell, this wasn't even a debate. It was you sitting there laughing at how much I care about people like you Have a lovely night. Apologies for wasting time. Sorry for being rude. And Happy Holidays, if that won't make you upset for me saying
Fairly certain I was talking like a rambling idiot the whole time
Merry Christmas is fine, you've turned my life on the path of God
