1 RespuestaWhat is the "official" organization that does GOTY? Like there are a bunch of companies that give these out. Which one is the one everyone actually follows?

3 RespuestasEditado por Hippo_Legacy: 12/8/2016 4:13:49 PMBattlefront: no content, no single player, actually pretty good gameplay; burned at the stake before anybody even tried it, and is now a very complete and fun game after DLC R6 Siege: no content, no single player, also has good gameplay very good gameplay; burned at the stake before anybody tried it, and has been resurrected since Overwatch: even less content, no single player, good maybe great (though not IMO) gameplay; everybody jumps on Blizzard's dick and praises the game before it ever comes out. I don't understand how we go from hating multi-player only games in 2015 to Overwatch being game of the year in 2016. Nobody even gave R6 or Battlefront, both of which are good games, a chance because they lacked content and single player campaigns. Overwatch had far less content than either of these games at launch and still no single player but because it's Blizzard we decided that's a cool and novel idea?

18 RespuestasLet's face it. ...it's been a weak year. All around.

9 RespuestasIt is a very good game, but over something like Uncharted? I don't think so. Uncharted 4 was the best graphical game I have ever seen, the gameplay was only an improvement from the older installments (except maybe no counter), and the story was really moving if you had played the other games in the series. It was truly a work of art but Overwatch is just a really good team shooter.
-
3 RespuestasTbh,uncharted 4 should've won The amount of hard work they did on the graphics is enough to make it better than overwatch Everything in uncharted 4 is better than overwatch (except for the gameplay)
-
2 RespuestasNot a major fan of multiplayer only games, but should I give this a try?

3 RespuestasI'd like to know what criteria is used to determine GOTY for the game awards. I'm also interested in seeing how things play out with the rest of the GOTY awards from different venues to see if Overwatch wins anywhere else. I don't believe it's GOTY and honestly I don't think it should have even been nominated. It's probably my personal bias kicking in but I feel like GOTY should be a complete game (by complete I mean having campaign) and if a game drops that is solely PvP then it shouldn't even be in the running.

5 RespuestasIt won that's enough for me people should get over it

1 RespuestaDidn't dark souls win?
-
14 Respuestasi mean, compared to other things, its better i guess. doom is the only thing i can think of really and dark souls satisfies a niche audience. it wouldnt win and i dont know why people are surprised.
-
Yes, the only reason I can think why someone would dislike the game, is because of their lack of PvP skill.
-
2 RespuestasDon't understand how it won, me personally I thought it was shit. But to each their own I guess. Dark souls 3 would have been my choice. Uncharted 4 was never a contender for me, what a disappointment that was. Just like the last of us it looks great and has a decent story but very boring games imo.

1 RespuestaI like playing overwatch and I was like level 90 before I stopped play about 3 months ago. It doesn't deserve goty just for the fact that there is no single player. No game should win just on multiplayer
-
2 RespuestasThe goty awards are in 4 days or so. Calm down ppl. Also I think overwatch shouldn't get it because it has no singleplayer and I find it a bit unfair if it were to win.

20 RespuestasEditado por Murph Tha Smurf: 12/6/2016 7:19:46 PMIt has very frequent, free updates, events, and extra characters and skins coming out often. This makes it worth the $60. On top of that, the game is focused on having fun. Most games nowadays, they focus on progression, "you gotta be rank 30 to unlock this gun" "you gotta be level 45 to reach this skill." "You must equip this gear because it has bigger numbers." Overwatch focuses on the raw purpose of games: fun. You can pick up the game and use the same powers anyone else can, immediately. The progression is hidden in the skill curve, which every character has, allowing for hundreds of hours of gameplay. The speed of progression is set by YOU, not a number the devs wrote down. That's why it deserved GOTY. That and nothing was there to overshadow it.

Yeah, these guys are idiots.

4 RespuestasEditado por Lord Puncake: 12/5/2016 6:48:31 PMOverwatch is definitely my favorite game of the past year, but there is no way in Hell it deserved Game of the Year. Not a single game this year deserved it. Each one was seriously lacking somewhere.

1 RespuestaEditado por GTLargo21: 12/6/2016 7:06:05 PMI voted DOOM. Awesome campaign. (I consider it an overall sequel that takes place after DOOM 64) Decent multiplayer (gimmicky as it is). Level creator included. Some free updates recently.
I'm just not that big on games focused solely on pvp... looking forward to Quake though.
2 RespuestasDOOOM!!
-
Only game I played the whole year so ya.
-
I actually love the game (I'm 22 BTW)
-
1 RespuestaTo be honest I absolutely despise it.
-
Yes. Its a great game that has an amazing background
-
It won. So yeah, it is.

Editado por BananaInPajama7: 12/6/2016 8:13:54 PMI mean the other games weren't that good compared to Overwatch. But uncharted 4 was amazing and that should've gotten it, but the other games in the category with it had no chance at all I feel like. People say DOOM but I think Overwatch is a lot better that doom. Overwatch is a really really good game but I think uncharted 4 should've won, but it really couldn't have, in not salty about Overwatch winning though. Titanfall maybe could've but that wasn't as good as Overwatch

Editado por Sainyule: 12/6/2016 7:14:40 PMI am forever grateful for Overwatch and it's free weekend saving me from Destiny and it's bullshit. If it asked for my vote I wouldn't hesitate
