Let's talk about Dark Souls!

I'm going to start posting these topics of other games asking questions! 1. What was your favorite Souls game? 2. What was your favorite memory from a Souls game? 3. Have you completed a Souls game? 4. What is your favorite boss? 5. What is your favorite weapon? No one has to answer any of these question, just mention something about Dark Souls whether you are a dirty hater or a sexy lover.

    • 1. What was your favorite Souls game? My favorite souls game is most likely DS1. DS2 PvP is close because of a few builds I loved, but I loved DS1 PvP more when it was active. Had lots of fun with PvP, lots of techniques you could use you be on top. Backstabs weren't a problem for me, since I was quite good at countering backstab fishes. On top of that I liked the bosses more than the sequels and demon's. 2. What was your favorite memory from a Souls game? My favorite memory is probably when I fought artorias in the midst of making my kirk cosplay, even though it isn't something impressive. At the time I didn't have enough endurance to have everything on so I went into the fight with a 1-handed barbed straight sword (that I think was +9). For some reason, that fight felt so epic to me in that fight. It felt like a really good PvP match, and I can steel remember the feeling. 3. Have you completed a Souls game? Obviously, yes. 4. What is your favorite boss? Artorias, the Abyss Walker (partly from that answer above) 5. What is your favorite weapon? It's a tough pick between Santier's Spear and Yorgh's Spear for me. After the nerf on mundane, I didn't use santier's for a while, but I came back to it with raw and man I've loved it since. The one-handed (which ironically the majority of people who used santier's didn't use) moveset was amazing. The rolling attack had great range and the sprinting attack had pretty much infinite poise break. I loved yorgh's spear when I started using it and still do, though I prefer to have a trusty straight sword in my left hand (they combo so well, one of my main builds used this setup). My favorite move was to purposefully miss an R1, unlock and turn around to unleash a 1000-damage R2 on my opponent's face. And that 2 handed sprinting attack.

I only played dark souls 3, but I was upset with the game. I bought it because people claimed dark souls was hard, beat it all fairly easy, it was more like a rolling simulator. The art/graphics is quite beautiful though. Plus the games math is all off so you outlevel the NGs faster than you should, so you need to stop leveling just to experience any somewhat challenge.

      • 1. What was your favorite Souls game? Honestly, 3 is the only one I enjoy, but it's so amazing that I consider myself a dark souls fan. 2. What was your favorite memory from a Souls game? Finally beating the Dancer. 3. Have you completed a Souls game? No. I reached the nameless king and soul of cinder in dark souls 3 but couldn't beat either because when I levelled myself I had no focus, just dabbled in various stats to see what they were like. I'm now about half way through a second character who I intend to finish the game with. 4. What is your favorite boss? The Dancer. The room design, the boss design, the combat style and most importantly the tension, were all perfectly executed. Plus, I love the Boreal Valley's style. 5. What is your favorite weapon? Vordt's Hammer. No contest.

        • In dark souls 3 I made a character recently that has been getting a lot of hate. My idea was basically just become a dragon slayer so I use dragon slayer armor with the dragon slayer great axe and shield. I'm gonna share the build since I had a lot of fun with it Class: knight Final level: 120 Vigor (health): 35 (+5 prisoner chain ring) attunement (Mana) 12 Endurance (stamina) 35 (+5 prisoner chain ring) Vitality (carry weight): 55 (+5 prisoner chain ring) Strength: 35 (+5 knights ring) Dexterity: 12 Intelligence: 9 Faith: 9 Luck: 7 Rings: Havels ring, ring of favor, knights ring, prisoner chain *Note a dragon slayer great axe or shield will need to be transferred over from another character if you don't want to go through ng+* Strategies for PvE Hold up your great shield while you engage enemy's because most weapons will bounce off your shield Your shield blocks a lot of damage so it's actually better to hold your shield up during boss fights since you take almost no damage. If you find yourself getting trapped in a corner by enemy's your great shields weapon art shield bash can knock enemy's in front of it down if you need to escape. *note can not knock down enemy's with higher poise* Strategies for PvP You should be playing defensively and holding up your shield as soon as you begin to engage you opponent, most player don't really know how to fight great shields so their already at a disadvantage. Have your opponent attack your shield while you hold it up. DO NOT ATTACK FIRST! Instead let them attack your shield and count the number of attacks they hit your shield with while you back up. Keep letting them do this until they have done around 5 times. Next time the walk up to hit your shield attack right before them with your r1 2 times and roll away. If you did it properly you might of taken a bit of damage but their health should be at half. Just repeat this step to win. Watch out for people who immediately take out something that can parry, they are the small amount of people who know you can party one handed great axes. If they stand right in front of you without attacking then they obviously want to party you. Use this to your advantage by walking up to them with your shield up. Then right before you attack quickly 2 hand your weapon and hit them with 2 r1s. Most players won't notice and will try and parry your first attack. Watch out for strait swords. Their weapon art can instantly take out your shield. Regular throwing knives are great for this build since you'll probably be leaving some of your enemy's on a tiny bit of health and the add some needed range. Be careful of people who use bleed builds Watch your stamina bar and roll away when needed, never hold up your shield on low stamina. Don't follow this guide exactly. It's important to develop more of your own strategies and find out what works for you.

        • 1- ive only played 1 and 2, and between those two, i prefer 1. 3 looks amazing tho, really want to get it. 2- tons of great duels in the forest in dark souls one. One that comes to mind was a rather lengthy one against an artorias cosplay. He invaded once while i was shamelessly ganking with my ex, and again when i was alone. That second one must have lasted an hour, but thats because at several points we would stop so i could kill another blue, and he would take care of the occasional red that would show up. We would then let eachother full heal, and take it from the top. Cant remember who won in the end, n i really dont care, it was a great fight 3- ive beaten 1 a few times. Have only beaten 2 once, because i really didnt like 2 that much. 4- ornstein and smough for now 5- lifehunt scythe from dark souls. Love that thing. Seen videos showing off friede's scythe in 3, and i think that may end up being my new favorite when I get it
