Hello, Paradox here. Today, I have with me, records of the notorious Vanguard leaders-- Cayde-6, Commander Zavala, and Ikora Rey. The Vanguard is a position of immense honor and unending responsibility. Guardians that are apart of the Vanguard protect the City from all threats. Some Guardians may choose to act alone and take matters into their own hands, but those that work with the Vanguard are the first-to-call minutemen. The Vanguard have three leaders, one of each kind of Guardian-- Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. They are the mentors and commanding officers of Guardians that are apart of the Vanguard. The leaders' tasks are, but not limited to, training the newly resurrected Guardians, defending the Wall from possible attacks, orchestrating strikes on high value targets, and leading the reclamation of lost territory. Cayde-6 is the current Hunter Vanguard. He has trained many hunters and watched in envy as they returned to the wild frontier. Cayde was as wild and adventurous as any other hunter, even trying to take on the Vault of Glass. His old friend, Andal Brask, was the previous Hunter Vanguard. Cayde accepted the "Vanguard Challenge" from his friend, and thus when Andal died, Cayde became the new Vanguard leader. Cayde now wears the cloak of Andal in his memory. Zavala is the Titan Vanguard. During the the Battle of Twilight Gap, Zavala and Shaxx followed their mentor, Saladin Forge, in defense against the unified Fallen force. There was a disagreement between Saladin and Shaxx that is another story, so after the battle at Gap, Zavala became the Titan Vanguard, and Commander Zavala. Ikora Rey is the Warlock Vanguard. Ikora had an interesting second life-- she became a legend in the Crucible with her notorious Invective. Ikora, unlike other scholars, stayed to the front lines (She is more hunter than warlock O.o). She has had many adventures and fought many major threats, but when she returned to the City, her peers awed at her expertise and declared that she should be the new Vanguard leader for warlocks. She has tought many young warlocks with the Light. The Vanguard has many eyes and ears in the fields, most of these being hunters. One hunter is Shiro-4. Shiro is one of the Vanguard's most trusted scouts. He has launched many hit-and-runs against Fallen on Earth, Luna, and on Venus. Apart of being a loyal scout to Cayde, a skilled hunter in combat, Shiro is a masterful weapons-crafter. His personal favorite weapon on the front lines is a sidearm that he crafted himself.
