*Republicans. Abolishing slavery was one of the whole reasons the GOP was founded. And the Confederates were Democrats. But they will say, "Oh, but the switched values and policy." Kills me everytime.

The "big switch" is a myth. Democrats want to say that they're the reason for the civil rights act because of LBJ when he had to convince Democrats to vote for it by saying "I'll have these ni**ers voting democrat for the next 200 years". Republicans unanimously voted for It. He also referred to it as "the ni**er bill". The only thing that switched was the belief that Democrats were racist. They accomplished this by introducing the welfare state and any opposition to it meant that you were racist knowing that Republicans were going to oppose it because they're for smaller government and less handouts. The entire reason for the welfare state was control.
