I realized that one of Bungie's best decisions has been to exclude matchmaking from raids and ToO.
I queued up with 2 of my friends in competitive and then quick play on Overwatch, and we were just getting THEE most horrid teammates.
From terrible character choices, zero awareness, to just down right lacking common sense, these players were nothing but a hindrance.
If it's one positive thing I have to say about Bungie is that they made the correct choice in excluding matchmaking from raids and ToO (while I do admit it should be added to Nightfalls).
To the people who have no friends still playing Destiny, rather than crying about being excluded from end game activities, find a group or make your own.
Stop being a lazy sack of shit.
(excuse my insensitivity to social anxiety)
**edit:
I came back to peruse some of these comments and it's astonishing to see so many people who lack reading comprehension or the ability to read.
First of all, I did not make any comparisons between OW and Destiny. I simply described a realization about matchmaking followed by a brief description of my experience while playing Overwatch (as my topic title suggests).
Second, never in my post did I mention that I wanted matchmaking to be abolished. I simply complimented Bungie to excluded matchmaking from activities that require heavy communication and teamwork such as raids and ToO.
And about optional matchmaking, no it personally does me no harm for it to exist and it's something I couldn't care less about. To be realistic, you won't see it in D1. Maybe in D2.

Social anxiety is a real disorder. -blam!-ing insensitive piece of -blam!-
-
That's because the new ranking system kinda sucks. Either way, those are the quality players the game thinks you're equal to lol.
-
I mean, why not? You have your group, whats your problem?
-
Overwatch needs matchmaking as its a multiplayer only game. It's advised to get pre-made team for competitive mode but solo q is possible. I solo'd q basically since season 1 and this season I'm seating at platinum(close to diamond), on season 1 I was 66 I think. And I've seen people do solo who are masters.

3 Respuestasthats bullshit , every online game needs matchmaking and its destinys biggest shortcoming not having optional matchmaking for everything , for every bad experience with matchmaking i had 10 good ones (across all online games i've played)
-
3 RespuestasToO no.. Won't gonna work well trust me. Raid maybe yes
-
3 RespuestasTrials matchmaking could you even Imagine that circus lmao!?!?
-
I disagree. I will never use it for raids or Trials, but Destiny still needs it. It would be great to play against randoms in Trials. Going flawless has been a bit tougher lately, but it would be so much easer against matchmade teams. I don't really care about the raid.
-
Matchmaking for Challenge of Elders would be great too, especially if small arms is one of the modifiers
-
When I did end game activities I found I spent more time on lfg than actually doing anything so matchmaking should be an option! I also understand some people just like the challenge of doing stuff solo so you should be able to turn matchmaking off in strikes etc
-
I think they should keep matchmaking well away from trials and raids but add it to nightfalls there is not communication needed I Never use my mic for them
-
2 RespuestasAlmost all the people I've raided with found through app or otherwise were terrible why do you think I stopped raiding
-
1 RespuestaYou make a good point, but I think that the social spaces in Destiny (the Tower more than anything) should have an area where you can look for people wanting to do specific activities. For example, wanna run Wrath of the Machine? Go to the lounge/dance floor. Wanna run Trials? See if people are looking for others at the Reef. You know, something small yet cool
-
2 RespuestasIt's funny I'm glad for lack of forced communication in most activists and lack of match making in the ones that matter to avoid this kind of hostility in op, I'm not bad at the game, I just don't like people looking for the smallest thing to say they saw you doing wrong once that "cost them the game"
-
You do realise they're completely different games right? And that matchmaking wouldn't affect people who don't use it?
-
Editado por Grimace221: 10/18/2016 7:20:05 AMWhy do people bitch about people wantong matchmaking in Trials? If you are queing with a team, how would the existence of match making hurt you at all? I agree it is silly to go into trials without a pre made team, and I never would, and you never would. But you say you are grateful it Isn't there... Why? You would never be forced to matchmake, since you always go with friends. Your whole post makes it sound like if it was there, your personal.exoerience with trials would be ruined. This is only my opiniong in trials btw, raids don't need matchmaking at all. But I don't see how it could ruin trials for anyone but people using it.

16 RespuestasEditado por UsingHarryBongo: 10/18/2016 9:15:51 AMi think it should be optional for the people who don't want to spend 6 years on lfg if they don't have friends on the game edit: since i can't be bothered to answer all the complaints separately i will post this here, i said optional matchmaking, key word being optional, as in you can turn it off and on, meaning that if you don't want your raid to be matchmade you can turn it off thus its addition would not affect you in the slightest and before someone asks how it would work in a fireteam of <6, it would be determined by the party leaders settings
-
I disagree for Trials, agree for the raid.
-
Totally this. Competitive Overwatch is toxic as -blam!-.
-
indeed lfg is already cancer but you can still find a decent group here and there if you know what youre doing . mm is just rng. look at crucible most of the time youre paired with a player with no thumbs and who runs around like a headless chicken with a shotty
-
its a bit frustrating when you have random people doing random things out on the map, and if you're keeping tabs on the score, you end up losing your focus and your game. If your good at what you do, then just focus on getting those K's. In the end whether you get a W or a L, what really matters is the score you get.
-
1 RespuestaRaid Matchmaking would indeed be an utterly toxic nightmare for anyone foolish enough to try it. Just one look at the likes of LFR on WoW will tell you everything you need to know! AFK'ers, trolls, mic-less Guardians, the inherently lazy, poorly geared and/or poorly skilled players, clash of ego's, language barrier, rage quitters, people dropping in and out, poor class balance, no defined leader giving direction? The list goes on! If you want to complete the hardest group content in the game, putting a little effort into getting a group together is really not too much to ask; especially with the plethora of recruitment options out there.
-
3 RespuestasNo, you don't understand. I don't care about team composition, objectives, or teamwork. I'm playing Hanzo and I'm gonna kick ass.
-
8 RespuestasLittle nooblets will never understand. We have jobs and boohoo, no time to go on my phone even though I spend most of my life on it. I just want to be under geared, inexperienced, and spam the match making until someone carries me through at their expense.
-
An in-game lfg system would still be nice though.
-
Bump. Amen I couldn't have said it better.
