Okay so The Last Word is kinda weird right now.
The nerfs and buffs to hand cannons have affected TLW in many ways. The gun was meant to be hip fired but the blanket buff to hand cannons that increased accuracy when ADS made this gun more consistent when ADS, making the exotic perk almost useless.
Here's an idea on how I think the gun can be balanced.
Return the precision damage increase when firing from the hip and increased stability.
But.
The gun can only be fanfired when firing from the hip. If you ADS, it will fire like a regular handcannon.(seriously, how is a guardian able to ADS and fanfire at the same time)
When ADS, the gun receives an increase to range and accuracy.
When firing from the hip(fanfiring), the gun receives an increase to precision damage and stability.
Thoughts?
Edit: What I meant by "increase to range and accuracy when ADS" is that ADS with the weapon will give it a slight range boost to avoid phantom bullets. But it will not get the significant range boost of the first curse.

Personally I think they should just completely remove the ability to aim down sight with the last word but give it back its bonus damage from hip firing. Meaning that if I'm at a mid/long range and the guy bodies me he can't just pull out his last word and one tap me to kill. I don't mind dying to last word if I'm bearing down on someone with a shotgun but when he's challenging me at mid range while I'm using a hawk saw something is wrong

Remove the ADS option from it. Done. It is supposed to be an 'old west' style hand cannon. Make it only able to hip fire, and only accurate up to mid range.

Nope just lower the impact to compete with the fire rate. That would keep its nice feel and not be the best autorifle in the game.

Agree. Something would need to be done to balance the hip fire though. I'd suggest it dumps your whole mag when hipfiring. That keeps it extremely powerful but requires a little more skill to use

Anyone who's used a single-action revolver or participated in Cowboy Action Shooting knows how stupidly impossible it is to aim down sights while simultaneously fan-firing. The hand you use to fan the hammer would be constantly obstructing your sight picture.

I always thought it should have significantly more recoil while ads to encourage people to hip for I also think the precision damage needs to be back at 99

I'm a broken record in my clan discord. I also agree that TLW should only be able to fan fire while hip fire. If this one thing happened it would completely balance the gun.

My theory. They should lower the rate of fire to match revelator archetype when ads. Then give a dmg bonus, small rof increase and a small acc bonus with a massive dmg falloff for range when hip fire. I hate the F'n gun but i don't like how bungie screwed the exotic perk on it.

In other games, it stutters and fires ghost bullets due to severe latency. This games p2p netcode is unique, and was designed for pve. Destiny uses two servers: One for player positioning and weapon orientation (game physics), and another cloud server that sincs the game environment across all players (points and kill awards, AI health and position, interactive objects). Only destiny uses this "shared world shooter" netcode. It's garbage for pvp. We'd be far better off with a traditional p2p connection for cruicible. If they buff the hipfire accuracy that's fine with me, that would encourage people to use it at it's intended range. But it definitely doesn't need a damage buff. It should not 2 shot kill. It shoots fast enough that a 3 shot kill is already really quick.
