I believe that Three of Coins, the item that xur sells, ruined exotics for me and a lot of the player base. It made it WAY too easy to obtain exotic items. Although the newer year two exotics suck, they are only part of the reason why exotics don't feel exotic anymore.
Bump if you agree.
Edit: Trending, wow. Glad to see all of the people that agree, and all the people that make valid points as to why 3oC isn't the only problem. Keep the replies coming!

Aside from a few notable exceptions like Telesto and Zen Meteor, a lot of the exotics are just slightly better versions of their regular archetypes. Take Borderlands for example. Their top tier items had unique functionality. Almost every orange weapon had something unique about it, like Headsmasher, mid range sniper that fired multiple rounds like a shotgun, or Volcano, high RoF subby that set people on fire for days. Granted Borderlands PvP was virtually non existent so there wasn't as much of a balance issue. Still the number of top tier weapons and their utility and unique functionality made them worthwhile and memorable. Destiny Exotics not so much. There are only a handful that have distinct universal utility and even then the standout exotics overshadow the others to the point of uselessness. Also the fact that there isn't a lot of build variety or synergy between weapons and builds limits the utility. With Borderlands and Diablo gear can have a direct impact on build viability. In Destiny there is very little build synergy with gear. Some armor can have a change on builds, but not many and even then they rarely directly impact build perks. I kind of understand why that is. If you look at Diablo a few character builds dominate. In theory not linking build viability to gear should create more varied PvP and PvE load outs, but in practice the meta usually guarantees that high armor builds with specific weapon archetypes prevail.

the entire loot system of Derpstiny is broken and ridiculous
-
9 RespuestasOr because legendaries are better than 90% of all exotics.
-
Three of coins suck
-
Exotic does not refer to rarity of the item. It's referencing the unique perk it has. Now they are no longer OP or gamebreaking which is good, in my opinion.
-
1 RespuestaWrong. Exotics feel shitty because you can get legendaries with better rolls.
-
Why they don't feel exotic anymore is because the best perks got mega nerfed and all exotics have one or two of these perks which made a significant impact on its performance. Additionally no in game exotic has a +/- weapon perk on it. Bungie says "blanket short sighted knee jerk nerfs are A-OK!"
-
-
I feel this way too. I get more excited over a legendary with a good roll than an exotic......
-
I feel bungo went and took exotic shards away from zur and had to find a way to replace that in the economy. So they make three of coins and a bunch of crappie exotics that people won't mind sharding to fill that hole.

1 Respuesta... The average age for a gamer in the United States today is over 30. Jobs, children, mortgage payments... They don't have the 25 hours a day to sink into a game, but they still enjoy playing. You play a loot based game for the rewards. If you don't feel properly rewarded, you may stop playing. 97% of gamers don't fit the "grind 10,000 hours for that one weapon" mold. 3oC was an excellent move on Bungie's part to keep the gamer that doesn't have all the time in the world coming back on a regular basis. Even after saying all that, I still get what you're saying. The drops themselves don't feel as special. Even so, the facts are these: the hardcore folks keep the game alive. The casual folks make the game profitable. Bungie has the interesting headache of trying to please both sides.
-
Kinda yeah.

2 RespuestasExotics don't feel exotic anymore because if they do so much as 1 extra point of damage or dot lasts a tick to long, crybabies come on here and start crying for nerfs. I used to be believe Bungie didn't listen to these crybabies and made changes based on data, until the 'frustrating encounters' post. They listen.

Shut up to. I've been trying to get Khephri's sting since november last year. And I just got it today. It did make it really easy to get thunderlord and no land beyond a thousand times.

2 RespuestasEditado por JOKERMAN: 9/3/2016 11:47:39 AMNope exotics just suck in general. And anything that is remotely good gets nerfed shortly after.
-
8 RespuestasThe mystery has been solved, Sherlock Holmes! I jest, but you are correct. Exotics are not exotic, because everyone has instant access to every exotic weapon, or armour piece. I think, no Guardian should not to be able to hold any more than THREE exotic weapons or armour pieces at one time, with a time limited cooldown between itemn swaps. If a guardian discovers another exotic item above the three they already own, they may own it for a trial period, before choose to swap it for one they own, or discard it. This system is fair, because it will not limit the collection of exotic weapons or armour, you will still be able to retrieve all discovered exotic weapons that you have available in the kiosk. However, you will be limited in the number of exotic weapons or armour pieces that you may use at any given moment. Exotic class items would be exempt from this system.

Editado por NixaTek: 9/3/2016 11:17:03 AMI thought you were going to talk about them getting nerfed. Even removing exotic perks from exotics making them same or worse than legendaries. I was disappointed.

4 RespuestasYou're not Harambe? Then who is?
-
Completely agree.
-
You only just made a post about this after almost a year of them not really being exotics anymore
-
I still wouldnt use a hard to get weapon if it sucked. For example i got a stolen pride with a decent roll and still got deleted instantly. Only one i ever got and if i get another its getting deleted.
-
11 RespuestasNo it's because for almost every exotic there's a legendary that equal if not better. Swords and ToM(during raids) are the only weapons that are unique enough to be called an exotic.
-
I use year 1 exotics too. But zhallo, telesto, tlaloc and the chaperone definitely feel exotic.
-
4 RespuestasI'm reading a lot of "Exotics don't feel exotic because everyone has them and I don't feel like a snowflake anymore." How about the real issue. Exotics don't feel exotic because the aren't. Aside from a handful of armor pieces most of them are shit. That's the case for most weapons too. For most of them there is a very comparable if not better Legendary. For me the only Exotic weapons I really use are Raze Lighter, Dark Drinker, Truth, and Mida. Exotics don't feel exotic because they are underpowered and lacking. Not because certain people don't feel special.

3oC is one of the most stupid things in Destiny. I miss Y1

It was ruined day 1 when bungie sat and watched as ppl abused 3oÇ. Should have rewound the servers.
