Scout rifles question

In your experienced opinion, what would be the best Legendary scout rifle for PvP, what perks should I look for? And would you prefer it above of legendary auto rifles? Thanks for the answers guardians

  • The scout have a wide range of styles. So decide what it is you want to do. For heavy hitters I suggest Hand of Judgement. Variks will award you one in packages. It has a slow rate of fire and has a heavy movement. Use this if you like distances and plant while shooting. Great for sniper kills. For a faster shot I recommend Inward Lamp. It is a trials award and is very light in handling and has auto fire. Use this if you are a close to mid range player. Great for opening up in crowds coming through a choke point or are shooting at high agility target. I use this and target people as I move in with a shotgun. The most well rounded is Hung Jury imo. This is bought by dead orbit. The old one was made better than any scout I have seen since. This is a mid to long range scout. Fast, accurate, and very steady. It handles light and if your aim is good it kills fast. Just be mindful of your range. If you get too cocky you will find yourself out matched and mad.

  • Imo it's more about your play style then anything else. I prefer hi impact scouts in space as its harder to get melee, grenade, SC or shotty by your opponent. The trade off is getting sniped but since not everyone carries a sniper I'm willing to live with it.

  • It depends on how fast your fingers work and if you use bumpers or triggers to fire. I use bumpers and I have fast hands from being a line cook for the last decade, so I use a NL Shadow with handlaid stock because it will quite literally fire as fast as I can spam the button. Admittedly, I do really, really like my Cocytus. It's in the saterienne rapier/ treads upon stars archetype. It's slightly slower than the NL archetype, but more than makes up for it in impact.

    A tread upon stars with an stability perk is very reliable. It's a good substitute for top tier scouts like hung jury to the Suros dis-47.

  • Try Mida. It's a very balanced gun. Not too strong, not too weak. Plus the perks are amazing.

  • I like scouts on long to mid-range maps. These are my favorites: Hung jury Not like the others Suros Dis 43 On close to mid-range maps I prefer hand cannons. Let us know when you find a Scout you like.

      Dis 47 full auto and stability boost for sure. A good rolled nl shadow is not bad either. Dis 43 is good but not for cqc.

      • The Suros dis 43 and 47 are both solid choices if you can get a good roll from The gunsmith, and the 47 is available this week. Try for a high stability roll with full auto. My advice is to get the order and hold out for a roll you like. Treads upon stars is a solid choice too, but harder to find a good roll.

          What are you planning on doing with it...and what range to you prefer to fight at? Can't answer that question otherwise. Because the "best" weapon depends on how you're going to be using it. If you like to fight at long range, and even counter-snipe...then its hard to beat Colovance's Duty or the Last Extremity, Doom of Chelchis, Hand of Judgement (Exotics: Jade Rabbit, Boolean Gemini) . These slow firing, hard hitting weapons are very deadly...but require accuracy. They can kill in three headshots...and if you can reliably get those headshots...they are one of the fastest killing scout rifles in the game. But if you miss that headshot, you will likely get outgunned. If you like to fight more at mid-range than the "Vision of Confluence" archetype weapon is the way to go....and there are a SHITLOAD of good ones in the game. Hung Jury, Saterienne Rapier, Treads Upon Stars. The Suros scout rifles from the Gunsmith (forget which model)....they're all good. Theydon't kill as quickly as the higher impact SRs, but they are more forgiving of body shots and misses. Scout rifles live and die in PVP by headshots. So yo're going to want as many stability and aim-assist (Hidden hand) mods as you can get. After that, the next best are perks that either increase your effective magazine size (triple tap) or the speed of your reload, Lastly, damage mods. For example, I got a Colovance's Duty from last IB that is beastly. Its got Crowd Control, Braced Frame (+stability/- magazine size), and Hidden Hand. I'm willing to trade off magazine size because CC increase my damage after kills....and the increase in stability along with HH, increases my ability to get those headshots. So I can kill more easily, so I don't need the additional bullets. Also if you're lucky enough to have gotten the pre-April update vendor version of Hung Jury...that was basically a God roll for a VoC type scout rifle. For both PvP and PVE. Triple Tap, Extended Mag, Hand-laid stock (+stability/- range), Firefly, Underdog (+range and handling when health low) In PVE I run Extended mag and Firefly. In PVP I run Hand-laid stock and Firefly. In PVP I don't need the addition range, and TT covers the smaller magazine. Hope this helps.

          • Depending on map I use Covolance's Duty. Not all purpose, but as long as I hang back (not camping) it will destroy mofos. I've one with hidden hand and zen moment, and another with crowd control and zen moment (can't recall if the latter is correct at the moment).

            I like The Inward Lamp. High rof scouts kill quicker with body shots, while low rof scouts kill faster with headshots. Guns like Last Extremity kill slightly faster if you hit 3 headshots, but twice as long (1.6 seconds) if you get all body shots. Higher rate of fire guns deliver more flinch, are more consistent in ttk, and perform better up close, but headshots are harder to hit consistently. Full Auto is really nice to have.

            If your looking for a scout rifle you can use in any situation go to the gunsmith and order a dis-47 love that scout. Oh yeah he has it now.

            There's loads of great ones. Really just depends on the perks, stats, and what you're using it for. Use to really like vision of confluence. Since then, probably hung jury, but colovance's duty is incredible.

          • My absolute favorite is the Suros DIS-47. High RoF low impact variety, with full auto, and full stability. I can take or leave the full auto, but the stability is delightful.

          • I prefer high impact SR with crowd control or firefly and a decent stability perk. Triple tap is also very good for pve.

            That entirely depends on what archetype of scout rifle you prefer to use. There are 4 different types. Low RoF/high impact Mid RoF/mid impact Mid/mid 2 (this is where Mida falls) and High RoF/low impact. The Low/high SR's are going to give you the fastest TTK's out of all the archetypes (with maybe the exception of Mida) and that will be somewhere in the .7-.9 second range. Generally, you'll look for perks that will increase damage or stability when using Scouts. Range really isn't a problem considering most of the maps are small enough where damage drop off isn't really a thing that you need to worry about. For the aforementioned archetype (low/high) one with Reactive Reload and Crowd Control will give you a 2 shot kill if both perks are proc'd. Without the perks, they'll be a 3 shot kill. This is under the assumption that you can hit headshots consistently. Edit: Shit. I just noticed you wrote "Legendary" SR's. Ignore the part about Mida, then.

          • Using a scout, I'm assuming you have you close range covered with a special weapon. With that in mind, I would recommend Hand of judgement or even Colovances Duty with some good stability perk. + red dot ores sights (sights are your preference really) Super accurate. Great range. Anti sniper with high caliber rounds. 3 to the head. Higher RoF worth mention is sateriene rapier. Need triple tap because the mag is too small for its high RoF. Stability perks are awesome for scouts in general. I have one with triple tap and third eye and it's very mida like. 4 to the head. Explosive rounds are nice too. Really messes with the vision of the the opponent. Jade rabbit and mida are great exotics.

          • All scouts are good . But i prefer the high impact low rof ones as if ur using a scout rifle its all about range and precesion.love those triple taps.

          • My full auto DIS rocks! I like agility buffs and rof. Fast reload is always nice. It is why mida rules, but I do like my auto scout a little more at this point.

          • There's basically 3 legendary scouts to choose from and personally I would use a scout over an auto rifle unless I'm working on an auto rifle bounty. I would try to get a medium impact/fire rate with decent perks because they are easy to use and there are a lot of different ones to choose from. The other archetypes shouldn't be overlooked but there are fewer types so fewer chances at getting a really good one. I'd start by checking vendor roles and gunsmith packages.

            I haven't been able to go back to hung jury after using mida tbh, I'd like to know the same thing - third eye plus 21 bullets makes pre firing on snipers so easy and will win 90% of primary fights in optimal range i feel like i just need a faster firing scout with third eye and a large mag

          • Hung Jury, The Saterienne Rapier, the higher ROF DIS-XX. Basically anything that does 55-65 crit damage will have a ROF and will kill in 4 headshots.
