This is a prime example of how disgustingly low Bungie's opinion of its players is.
All evidence suggests that nothing has changed. Certainly the consensus is obviously that there is no improvement. This suggests the following:
1. Bungie knows a very large portion of the player base (the majority, it seems to me) prefers CBMM over SBMM, and clearly the connection-based is what we want.
2. The aforementioned evidence suggests that nothing has actually changed to prioritize CBMM over SBMM.
3. Bungie decides that rather than actually doing that work, they can simply announce that they have. This seems intended to placate everyone and essentially shut us up.
4. We, being viewed as a giant mass of gullible stupidity incarnate by Bungie, will surely just take them at their word and be happy that they've prioritized connection over their failed, false skill-based BS.
Logical conclusion, step by step. Boy will they be disappointed when we're all not as stupid as they think we are.

This is the best comment I have read on here in quite some time! 😂

Sorry I'm new to the forums and this seems like a great conversation but not sure what cbmm or sbmm mean? To be honest though I'm probably closer to the lower skilled but I do believe that I do not run into red bars that often. But it is EXTREMELY frustrating when you do. Most of the time I just want to quit but I usually stick it out and make sure next match I'm not stuck with the same people
-
Everyone makes this distinction between conmection and skill. It seems like nobody thinks of a solution in between. Because if you eliminate the skill requirment the top players will cruise against the lower slilled players. There are some people who can do incredibly high level plays in this game and putting them against lower skill players will result in games too easy for them and games too hard for lower skilled players If people are experiencing lag their next course of action is not to ask for CBMM but to ask for improved commections between players. That is not exactly the same thing and makes a lot of difference. Personally I think the matchmaking was fine. I felt like all my opponents were around my skill level, games played out well too, they werent sweaty, they were competitive and fun. And Im not a low skilled player if i may say so myself.
-
While I do see some people who want SBMM done away with completely, that's not my goal at all. I just want exactly what they said they implemented: a hybrid matchmaking system that gives greater priority to connection, then utilizes the SBMM. My point wasn't to do away with anything. It was simply that I don't believe Bungie have made the changes they say they've made, or if they have, those changes have changed nothing.
-
I think were looking at it the wrong way actually People imagine a dial system with SBMM on one side and CBMM on the other, so reducing one favours the other. In reality what theyre doing seems to be opening up the skill brackets so tje games are less sweaty. Thats probably why it seems like nothing has changed for most people.

Here's my thing, as simply as possible... I don't mind losing to someone better than me. If someone is more skilled than me, he/she deserves to best me. Hell, I might even learn a thing or two and/or improve by playing against him/her. I do, however, have a problem with losing as a result of lag, red bar gods, or just bad connections in general. I'm not learning anything. I'm not gaining any experience. And skill suddenly becomes 100% irrelevant. Because lag wins. Every time. Again, I'm not advocating doing away with SBMM completely. It seems to me that most people's problem with it is the same as mine: it blindly matches you with people "based on skill" (which I'm not sure I really buy, but ok) with no cares for the resulting connection issues in that match. In theory, SBMM is great. In theory. But in practice, any merit it might have is completely outweighed by the lag it fosters. In my opinion, we do need a matchmaking system that utilizes both; use CBMM to pick the pool of players, giving connection quality the priority it needs, then use SBMM, such as it is, to populate their "fair" matches from that good-connection pool. This is basically what they say they've done (at least, we think it is; Bungie do so love being maddeningly obtuse with announcements like this). But I don't believe them. And neither do most users, on here at least, from the look of things. Nothing has changed. No one seems to be reporting any connection improvement, which would, it seems, be obviously present if they'd indeed made the changes they said.

Ohh, i just read the actual post again from Dereck Caroll, i didnt know they were prioritising connection. Regardless i agree with what youre saying anyways, though i dont experience bad connections the way others do
-
You do realize everyone who wants cbmm are the ones who have high skill, which is the minority?
-
All the high people want to do is pwn noobs to boost kd.
-
All the high people want to do is pwn noobs to boost kd.
-
I'm not a great player yet I still want cbmm back.
-
Doesn't look like it's the minority to me, friend.
-
Yeah, I know it doesn't to you. But seriously, the lower skill players obviously make up the majority of the community (look at some data, eh?) and those players aren't impacted as much by sbmm.
-
I agree that lesser skilled players likely make up the largest percentage of the game. But I'm not seeing many advocating SBMM or praising how it's working for them. On the contrary, I see lots of players openly admit that they belong to the less skilled group and still hate SBMM for the inevitable lag that comes along with not prioritizing connection. Red bars and lag affect every player, regardless of skill.
-
Most of the people that don't want cbmm don't really talk about the issue because it is working out for them. They aren't complaining like I see on these forums every. Single. Day.
-
That's a possibility. But it's nothing to go off of. If you don't speak up, you can't be heard.
-
Eh. Thr game is in the sbmm phase so no need to right now.

I agree but, as long as we keep playing, we are showing them that we actually are stupid.
-
Agreed, unfortunately. If it was just myself to consider, I'd simply quit. Bungie wouldn't care, and the world would keep turning, but I'd quit all that same. But I have a clan, friends, etc, and the idea of just bailing on them, despite the multitude of flaws... I just can't bring myself to do it, I guess.

They need to get rid of Cozmo and hire you.

Lmao cozmo is a good cm he would be awful.
