The pvp in Destiny is balls. I mean it's okay, but holy shit is it casual. I'm sorry but do you see how much 1 hit kills are in this game? How strong aim assist is? Constant tracking radar? Spawning with a shotgun/sniper/fusion and always having ammo, which are just more 1 hit kills? Will this ever be balanced? DOOM plays at like 3 times the speed, has a longer time to kill, is way more balanced, and has dedicated servers.(Not to mention they just added 1 flag ctf and a new take on domination for free) There are a ton of games who do pvp better. Overwatch, DOOM, Tribes, Titanfall, Hawken, Battlefield, Quake, Halo, Unreal Tournament, all I can think of off the top of my head. (Just tried the Lawbreakers alpha as well, cool mix of Overwatch and Unreal with an adult art style, cool game). Hell, I'd say Uncharted 4 pvp is as good as Destiny, it's different but still just as polished and fun.

  • All the things you listed as one hit kills that make it casual are things everyone can have. If only a few could have them then it would be a problem. Just because people can spawn with a sniper, which you can in doom as well, doesn't mean they're good with a sniper. A agree that Doom's is fun as hell, even great, but frankly your argument doesn't make much sense.

  • Of course everyone can have it. That doesn't it make it not casual. Yea you spawn with a sniper doom, it also has a charge up time when you scope in, way less aim assist, and does reduced damage when hip fired. People could get a Rocket launcher, sniper, and shotgun in Halo. Didn't make it unbalanced, just made them seudo objectives, that rewarded the player with kills if they earned it, and could use said weapon. My point is there isnt much skill in "Whoever sees someone first, wins", which is even more dumb when you throw in an always on radar.

  • I get what you're saying, but I think they're two different animals. I won't reiterate what I'll already said, but skill still comes into it. I suck with a sniper, and I know Destiny's snipers have training wheels. But every time I go against someone who's great with a sniper I get dominated. So I alter my approach. I do way better in doom than I do in Destiny. I guess that's my greatest reason for disagreeing with you. I know there's many reasons for that. But ultimately, I'm no expert in MLG competitive gaming so I'd better just shut up before I make myself look real dumb. Take care man.

  • Those games you listed are mainly pvp only whilst destiny is a combo of both. It's unfair to compare them.

  • DOOM, Battlefield, Halo, some Unreals and Quake, and soon Titanfall 2, have campaigns. Hawken, has PvE modes (bot destruction and such) and is free to play. Can't imagine what any of these games would be with the budget behind Destiny. Not to mention DOOMs campaign is var better, pvp has dedicated servers (and more emotes than Destiny could ever hope for), and has snap map.

  • Sorry should've said most of those games and titanfall is a pvp only game because the campaign was pvp.

It is actually fair to compare them because Desticles act like the PvP in this game is godly and it's not, the devs sure act like it's a PvP only game with the amount of PvP only events that come out and the updates that are mainly PvP related. When was the last PvE event other than SRL?

  • True actually, guess Festival of the Lost was the only one. For a PvE-dominate game, there's an awfully huge emphasis on PvP.

  • Ha yeah two old strikes and small tweaks to the infusion system. I forgot about the whole Sterling Treasure crap, -blam!-ing useless haha. At least the live team is trying. I wonder how much of Bungie's resources are concentrated on Destiny 2? The way it seems, I'd say the live team is like maybe 20 people and the other 680 people are working on Destiny 2.

  • The April update gave purpose to an extent to grind out the strikes. It made pve content more playable and rewarding, a lot of games do micro transactions but that's just the way of it and I'm mad about it too. But it gives the players a more direct way to support and get players more content as well.

  • Then bungie should start focusing on more pve events and contents which is something there better at.

  • Like they opened Eververse Trading for that exact reason and where are all the events? Last time I checked, this game is a cash cow with money raking in. I applaud the new strike revamps and the April Update bringing old players back but come on, is RoI going to be just the same old same old, just an add-on like HoW? With no new improvements? I'm still on the ropes about buying it, money's not a problem for me, but is it worth it? I don't think so...

  • They won't bc they are lazy as -blam!- to develop anything more, not only that, I bet they create content and Activision saves that for Destiny 3 or 4

  • Yet you still have games where you get killed more often than you kill. Don't act like you have PVP wrapped. You're only a little better than me. You and I are literally average players based on our K/D. Your logic to prove how easy it is to kill also works against you in terms of death. You're only getting killed a tiny bit less than you kill. I'm sure you're better than your K/D implies (I feel like I am. I just decided to stop making so many mistakes this year). Still though, you're far from the right to yawn and deem PVP as a casual walk through the park. You prefer faster paced PVP. That's fine. Doom is PVP but from the mind of a hyper active child. COD is similar. Unreal is PVP for somebody about to piss their pants on the way to the bathroom. But none of the games you listed hold a candle to Destiny's tuned gun mechanics. I'm sorry, but Bungie literally rewrote the book. None of the games you listed can carry the jock of Destiny when it comes to player customization (on the PVP front) Here's the last bit to chew on. The fact nobody discusses but everyone knows is true is that for most Players Destiny is the game they've put the most time into. It's because it's fun but it's also because there's something about Destiny that connects with players. It brings out the best in them. They want to be good at the game. Like, it breeds this intense desire to want to be legitimately competitive. I'd argue that Halo and COD have a bit of that secret sauce too. Anyway. I'm not going to convince you. Destiny appeals to my personality. Doom appeals to yours.

Many pvp games appeal to me, not just DOOM. And Destiny didn't rewrite the book, Halo did, which Destiny borrows HEAVILY from. Player customization is boasted, yet there is a meta. I don't know how you can think your encouraged to play however you want, when if you're not using a mida or sniper or whatever the meta is now, you're at a decent disadvantage. Destiny has potential and maybe a good base for pvp, nothing more. I haven't played this game in months, and before that it was randomly whenever I felt like it, plus friends would play my account. I don't even care for trials, because it has become a cluster -blam!- of nerfs and complaining. I love pvp and stay away from this game. If I played this games pvp religiously, memorized the maps, ground(grinded?) my life away for good roll weapons, and kept up with the meta, I'd easily have a good k/d. I go 1.5-2.5 consistently in doom, and pretty much every other shooter, usually always top 3, no matter the game type, and I could care less about k/d. Especially in this game, where a warlock in his super could kill you almost 3 times if he's lucky/you're unlucky enough. I would say what makes people put so much time into Destiny is because it was fun at first. And people keep grinding with the sliver of hope that it will become fun again as it first was. Sure it still has a charm to it, great art and graphics, cool lore, and some people still have fun, they always will. That's not the majority though, majority don't like useless grinding, and no fun to replayability in a grind fest game. I prefer good pvp games. I love DOOM and Unreal, I also love Rainbow Six, Arma, Ghost Recon, Gears, which are slow to medium paces games. I just like what's good

And one feature of DOOM for PvP that a lot of my buddies say is great issssss *drum roll*... *crash* no tap quick scope killing with snipers while at high to full health. That alone drew a lot of my buddies to try PvP in DOOM, aside from the obvious glory kills, gore, awesome gunplay, fun demon play, custom matches, etc etc.
