That is to say, Destiny is the most sophisticated and ambitious FPS PVP ever developed.
I look at COD and Halo as glorified games of tag. They're fun as hell but most guns are usable and Everyone pretty much has the same character. Kills come easier, etc.
Destiny makes you work for kills. The time to kill is just long enough to give you an ulcer.
Between the classes, sub classes, weapons rolls, armor builds and skill tree preference, a player can be radically different from their opponent. It's a very rich and dynamic experience.
Not to mention the fascinating science that goes into the way the guns perform. The guns feel alive. They have personalities. We're attached to them. We love them as much as our own children.
This isn't a diatribe of my musings on the topic of the crucible. I'm just giving some credit where it's due.
We're pretty damn lucky to have Destiny at all. Not to mention that the crucible is the best PVP ever.
ALL THAT SAID. I'm fully aware of the red bar curse. The infamous and and favorite Tefty topic: the dreaded net code. I am fully aware that the lack of dedicated servers greatly hinders the potential of what is already a fantastic game. I get that there's always an OP weapon, subclass or ability.
I'M INTIMATELY AWARE OF THE NEGATIVES OF THE PVP EXPERIENCE.
But all of that crap mentioned above will someday be remedied and put in the past forever.
That's not the hard part. Creating what we now have, this utterly sophisticated, game changing evolution of the multiplayer experience was the hard part. Conceiving it and building it was the mountain Bungie had to climb. But they did it. They delivered far more than just a glimpse at the future of FPS PVP. They almost nailed it on the first try.
So why do we complain so much about PVP? Wouldn't it be worse to see all of the ways the game design could be improved? To be totally disappointed by what could have been?
I think so. I'm content because dedicated servers, a polished net code and 60 fps are on the way. This game will someday play like Jimi Hendrix did the guitar.
We need to remember that. We need to remember that Destiny is already Jimi Hendrix. He just needs to refine his style a bit. It's like, 22 year old Jimi.
That's such a far better position to be in than if Destiny was nowhere close to being Jimi and was more like the guy from Nickelback. You can't fix nickelback. You can fix 22 year old Jimi Because the law of inevitability says that 22 year old Jimi will someday become the legendary Jimi.
So be grateful Bungie's on the path of inevitable greatness and maybe complain less about the same issues that they too despise and are hell bent on correcting.

8 RespuestasEditado por Killbilly Karma: 7/31/2016 6:02:11 PMI respect your positive opinion of Destiny PvP, but unfortunately I don't fall into your camp. The core of a good PvP experience is a fully functional and reliable mechanism for competitive play. This is the base upon which all other aspects and elements of the PvP game are built. Destiny has never achieved this core/base. From the beginning there have been numerous and persistent 'technical issues,' for lack of a better term. Lag, glitching, phantom bullets, red bars, matchmaking fiascos, and on and on and on and on, ad nauseum. Those issues, in various incarnations, continue to this day. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Until this most basic and necessary component of the Destiny PvP game is actually made functional and reliable, everything else related to the PvP will continue to be essentially irrelevant. Thus, I disagree with your assessment of this being the most sophisticated PvP game ever. It never actually made it past being one of the most basic of PvP games. The supers, and subclasses, and weapons, and perks, and balancing, and nerfs and buffs, and all other variables that stack on top of the core of the PvP game . . . well, they're nothing more than mental masturbation. Lipstick on a pig. Dust in the wind. You get the point.

4 RespuestasSophisticated only in the fact that lag always wins... So as long as you can make sure you have a shitty connection you will do just fine. Because we don't want to punish people for having potato Internet. So they get grouped with everyone else to cause godlike players who take no damage and suddenly teleport beside you from across the map with a shotty

1 RespuestaI much prefer the Destiny PvP to other games. I'd still love a No Supers mode, of course, but Destiny is much more satisfying than any of the Call of Duty games. I like the "game of tag" analogy, because that's pretty much how it feels. The time-to-kill is stupid high, and that's a design that I loathe; if killing and dying happens easily, neither of them really matter. Plus the random spawn system. It'll always feel dirty and deliberately disorienting to me. There's no reason otherwise that a player shouldn't see where he's going to drop feet before becoming vulnerable again, and it handicaps the less experienced/casual players against the really serious players that have played maps to the point of memorization. Destiny does a pretty good job of spawning players into safe-ish places and the maps provide plenty of landmark-quality geometry for orientation. It's just... all better feeling. (That said, I miss MAG fiercely.)

Battlefield Bad Company 2>Everything. Destiny is just another shitty arena shooter that's good for a laugh.

Bungies Halo games were better

1 RespuestaJust wanted to say. Thank you for the positive post!!
-
I love it but I hate it more.
-
I feel the same way changing guns up on other games and not really noticing gameplay difference but then changing 1 perk on my last word and suddenly my 3 shot rage cannon is a nerf gun shooting rainbow colored marshmallows at fat kids smh. No offense to anybody here who is fat, or rainbow colored marshmallows

I read up to the second sentence of the second paragraph. Point made. Read the rest. Felt like off topic drivel

Not really I mean it's pretty basic tbh Especially at higher levels of play there's not much variety Also overwatch Team fortress Halo warzone Etc

1 RespuestaIt's not really complaining. I mean, most people around here (including me) care so much for this game, that we kinda get mad if it isn't at the stat where it could be at. We all just care a lot, that's something a lot of people overlook. If we wouldn't care, we would've never gotten salty/mad/sad in the first place. I love this game ! There are very few games that I have played so much :p

Editado por ghostx78x: 8/1/2016 5:57:37 AMAs awesome as the concept of the game is, and this is my favorite video game of all time, when this awesome game doesnt work- none of it matters. The lag breaks every mechanic and it gets worse with every update. How do you know they even care about fixing the connections/ matchmaking? They have literally never said once (that I know of) that they think there might be a problem, despite THOUSANDS of posts.
The Most Sophisticated PVP Ever
said noone ever about destiny until you posted this steaming pile and compare said pile to hendrix is laughable at least and offensive to jimi at worst

1 RespuestaCouldn't agree more. Hell yeah there's a lot that pisses me off about the game. Starting with trashy servers and no private matches, to a couple of useless underpowered guns like Necrochasm or Chaperone that has potential. But all in all it is a great game, just needs work
-
sounds like a bait with the very odd word choices and saying that pvp causes ulcers. and overwatch is the future of fps pvp.

Sophisticated? They can't even get a simple pump shotgun reload animation right. No one at Bungie has ever fired a real gun, that much is obvious.
-
Love PvP - thanks Bungie.

Pokemon Go-More skill than destiny

1 RespuestaDust: 514 much more complex than destiny, no aim assist what so ever. Sadly it's being put on PC, removed from consoles.
