It's pretty obvious that most people don't understand the difference between the two.
Things that are strong (for example, the last word, shotguns, we'll throw shoulder charge in there as well cause everyone's bitching about it!) are effective at what they do. They provide an advantage but only when used where they are meant to be used. Even though they are powerful up close, they do have a weakness, that being their range (obviously!). Same goes for snipers at close range, you can get lucky but they are inconsistent and difficult to use close up.
Things that are "op" have almost no counter or counterplay. Easy examples are yr1 last word and thorn. They had the fastest times to kill and were effective up close and far away. No other weapons at any range (excluding shotguns at point blank and snipers at the absolute furthest of ranges) could counter them in any way.
So before saying something is "op" because you died to it a few times, ask yourself, "could I have escaped that engagement or played differently so that I wouldn't have been killed by (whatever weapon or ablility)". If the answer is yes, which it will be most of the time, said weapon or ability is probably not OP. So please don't go crying for a nerf. That ruins the game for everyone else. Thanks, hope this helps!

I try to veiw things from everyones standpoint and approch the debate with as much logic and reason and calm understanding as i can muster. In their defense after what happen to sunbreakers at the start of yr2 and sunsingers last month i completely agree with and understand their reluctance to admit their favorite subclass has an OP ability. On the other side of the fence i understand the logic in wanting a rebalance to shoulder charge. It does not take 3 seconds to activate EVERYTIME and once it activates(if you try to evade after that point) it will follow you around corners, in the air and most like kill you in a trade if you do not kill them before they hit that melee to proc it. Also no other class has anything close to it in terms of low cooldown(if any cooldown at all) 1hko ability( even when boosted by an exotic) i propose that shoulder charge works off a melee cooldown, does very high damage to target(but not 1hko with full shields) while at the same time dealing porportionate arc damage to any enemies in an radius around the target equal to stormcaller thunderstrike range while still dependent on the sprint to activate. If the melee charge is absent on activation it still does the high damage to the intended target but not the are damage. However nothing we agree on here wi come to fruition on the fact that bungie will either nerf on leave as is but in reality we feel it deep down knowing bungie will rebalance striker in the next patch right bfor/after RoI. If you didnt like that the other idea(which is fair and reasonable) let shoulder charge keep its damage at the cost of equiping an exotic that boost its damage to get the forementioned outcome of the 1hko

16 RespuestasEditado por Junfrep: 7/13/2016 4:53:21 PMI think the only thing that is truly OP is MIDA. Good up close, good from far away, AMAZING reload, great fire rate, great stability, and good impact. I fear going against this thing. And blink.

1 RespuestaVex was op suros was op tlw and thorn was op in y1. The ppl here dont know what op is. Thats why we see posts in forums that thorn or tlw in y2 are still op Just lol...

I started recording those matches where I feel like my blood is boiling, you know those matches. I've realized that I made stupid decisions because I was tilted, and I'm blaming things for my failure.

How about OP vs OU?

2 snipers is op if your accurate

You don't know what you're talking about.

People who complains I was outgunned = OP I was killed = OP He's faster than me = OP He dodged my attacks = OP His grenade killed me = OP He sniped me = OP He got heavies and I didn't = OP Destiny Community asked, is this what you encounter in every game you've played? Complainer: No, it happened in only one game that I've played so far. Destiny Community: slams the door and curse violently.

i dont know who you are but i love you and everything you stand for

Too much logic to ask from whiny kids who suck at a video game, but good post!

Strong = you kill other players with it. OP = you get killed when other players use it on you.

1 RespuestaActually Red Death countered Thorn excellently, it almost got to the point where that was the #3 most used PvP primary.

2 RespuestasFrom the beginning people have used 'op' way too liberally. Destiny isn't perfect but ability & weapon balances aren't nearly as big of issues as people make them out to be.

1 RespuestaEditado por OldeSkoolKool: 7/13/2016 8:48:24 PMIt's simple really. If you've ever cried OP or asked for anything to be nerfed, you are either too lazy or too stupid to figure out how to avoid or counter that thing you claim to be OP. You should be embarassed and should go back to playing with dolls.

10 RespuestasAsk yourself this... if a Titan shoots a rocket and watches his target blink away from the impact, is blink strong or op? What if Titan shoots a rocket at another Titan and they can't get out of the blast in time and die... now, why does having blink give one person life while the other has no choice but to die? In that situation blink is op.

Strong is a weapon you get kills with. OP is when a weapon kills you.
sarcasm
I'd also throw "Popular" in the Strong vs Overpowered argument. It seems like everyone cries about MIDA, but it's simply popular. My buddy has a Hung Jury SR4 with Triple Tap, Extended Mag, and Firefly and it's just as effective. I have one with Third Eye and Triple Tap. It's a beast in PvP. But because MIDA is popular and easy to acquire with the right perk set (since exotic perks don't change) it's used a lot. There are probably some great hand cannons which, given the right rolls, can battle The Last Word pretty head-on. But exotics already have the premium perk set, so all of the sudden they're Overpowered just because they're Popular. As far as shoulder charge is concerned, I've learned to keep my distance from titans where possible. When I can't I don't wait for the perfect shot like many people, I fire off as many bullets as I can and win that engagement about half the time, which is probably the way it should be. But regardless there will always be guns perceived as overpowered simply because they're popular, or even more so because they're exotic. Maybe it'd be a fun community challenge to find legendary guns with the right rolls to go up against these exotics just to prove the point.

Humans are humans, we are going to find weapons we are comfortable with and combos we are comfortable with. When they get nerfed we dump them and just look for the next thing. It's a never ending cycle, nothing is ever going to balanced because nerfing THIS, just means THAT is now the most powerful, then the nerf for THAT is around the corner, and the next thing will be found and latched on to.

There is no difference for PvP mains. And the worst part is they give zero fuks how their self limiting toxic mode fuks over PvE. #GivememyfukinThornback #Invectiveonlyholds14roundswitharmourbonusesnow...

What's op about snipers and last word is that they are far too effective outside of their intended ranges, that's why weapons have been getting nerfed mostly. And btw snipers are far from inconsistent, that statement is just laughable. If you want inconsistent put away your tys and shotty and pick up a fusion. I main the suckers and most of them are incredibly inconsistent. Last word has next to zero range, less than most shottys, so either change the range star to better reflect the actual range or make them have the proper range. Snipers are far too accurate on getting head shots close to medium range, it needs to be addressed. And some could say body shots needs tweaking as well but that's up for debate honestly. Shot guns are in a good spot, so are scouts and hand cannons. Medium and low rate of fire pulses have no incentive to be used, which needs to be addressed. Low rate of fire pulses take the same amount of bursts for the kill as them and shoot faster. Low rate of fire autos need to be usable at an extended range, because as of right now they have a higher ttk and yet have the same range fall off as medium rof autos. And if we were all being completely honest side arms could use a buff as well. All the subclasses are currently balanced with a couple exceptions, striker lighting grenades needs to have a clear indicator for the cone, as of right now it's incredibly hard to tell if your in the clear. Sun singers need some re tooling to give them a better outlet to be supports, that's the one warlock support class and it got neutered and yet nothing changed to give it a better support outlook. These are the changes that I hope bungie addresses, after that everything will be mostly balanced and if people call for nerfs than their just bitching.

29 RespuestasThorn wasn't even op in year 1, the only gun that might have ever been op was the mythoclas. Tlw was op in that it did way more than it was intended to but that was a bug which got fixed. Most people define op (in their own minds) as this thing kills me more than the exceptable percentage of time, but fail to realize that is what balance is. Pokemon is popular right now so I'll use that to illustrate. if I preffered to use only fire type pokemon I would constantly be crushed by water types, but that doesn't make water type pokemon op it makes them my counter. If you find that a particular Weapon or ability constantly kills you it means that is your counter. Counters are not as simple as rock paper Scissors in destiny tho. If you're a shot gunner your natural enemy is the defensive auto rifle. if you're a shot gunner who doesn't used all of the cover and map awareness available to you then you get countered by snipers, scouts, and Pulse rifles pretty easily. That how balance works in a complex game like destiny, it is not just about certain guns out playing others, but certain guns out playing situations.

2 RespuestasI turn the corner charging my fusion at a guy say a little out of shotgun range and before my fusion can shoot he kills me with a headshot from his sniper that he pulled out . Sniper op.

I thought you were referring to Strong in Fallout 4. When I realized it wasn't, I stopped reading. If you don't know who I am talking about, you're just a filthy casual
