Can we have an Honest Discussion with the Developers at Bungie about the state of Destiny?

I'm serious. I just want to sit down, have a cup of coffee, and have a respectable discussion about Destiny, how its changed since Year 1, The current State of it, and Where Year 3 is going. Because to be respectfully honest: I feel like I became less of a legend than I did Year 1. What happened to hype of getting something like Fatebringer? Why is crucible mainly being focused or it seems to rather than PVE? When can developers read the forums themselves instead of community managers (not trying to be rude) and take matters into their own hands? Who at bungie, plays their game on a Daily to Weekly Basis and thoroughly knows what goes on in the game (and not community managers)? Where are the missing exotics that were revealed at the E3 of Taken King? What happened to this game being fun? Who cares if someone gets high score in Challenge of Elders? They can get a million points and majority of people wouldn't care, you shouldn't have to reduce the effectiveness of our abilities if someone is always on Top. It always happens with every game with leaderboards. How's the partner ship with Activision? Is it going well? Are they holding up their end of the bargain? Has the plan for the Destiny Franchise for 10 Years changed? Or is it still going to be continued and carried out? All these questions and more.... I would like more Bungie Developer Interaction with Players. Because from what I've seen, most of the feedback often sent from Cozmo doesn't get read by developers or they completely ignore it. For example: Why Hasn't Fabian Strategy been buffed yet or even considered, even though Cozmo sent it to the devs from a couple months after responding to a post? Edit 1: For those saying most of the Bungie Crew is working on Destiny 2: that is a bad idea. Working on a future game while still making dlc for the current one takes a lot of skill to pull of successfully. The main reason why its a bad idea: You are dividing resources. I'd say have full focus on Destiny's rise of Iron before moving on to Destiny 2. That way you can have a successful dlc and maybe enough funds to fully develop Destiny 2. For those saying that Bungie can't manage feedback themselves (community managers do that), or say I'm taking control of feedback, why is there more nerfs to stuff that's unnecessary than buffs (Throwing Knife, Twilight Garrison/Graviton)? I'm not crying or anything but just a thought.

  • I feel like this franchise's fate was sealed when work on the sequel began. Bungie clearly cannot support a game that desperately needs to grow while they're making another. Unless Destiny 2 is a reboot and a masterpiece, they're going to launch with one foot in the grave.

"Why is crucible mainly being focused or it seems to rather than PVE?" Answer: Greed. It's cheaper to add a new map to a game than it is to add enemies, strikes & other mechanics to a game.

    • You make some great points. There is no way in hell in buying Destiny 2 based off the direction this game has taken in year 2. I also feel less powerful. My best weapons for PvP have a permanent 170 attack value. I'm not even buying iron rise anymore just because of how boring year 2 is.

    • The devs don't want you hype over any weapons or gear. They want nothing to stand out and they want everyone to be bland like regular corn flakes. They don't want raid gear/weapon hype. They don't want exotic hype. They don't want you hype at all. They want everyone to be a mellow 5 out of 10 excited for the game and everything in it because lord knows if people like something or something is desired it will be nerfed into oblivion. Wait and see how weak Jelly is in year three now that they are giving it away to everyone. Dregs will laugh off the wolfpack rounds and still launch a nade right into your lap with pin-point accuracy.

      • I remember when this game first came out, and how exciting it was when I first started playing it. This should have been mirrored with DLC's such as House of Wolves or TTK, but all we got was annoyance that Bungie didn't put their full effort into it and left us with so little of the storyline than we actually wanted. Now, they are so focused on Destiny 2 that they have basically given up on fixing things for the good and started nerfing things that were fine before (Twilight Garrison/Graviton Forfeit). If you want to have a game that players will continue playing, stop messing with the weapons and armor that had little to no effect on the community and start actually worrying on the things that cause problems.

      • Out of all of this,
When can developers read the forums themselves instead of community managers (not trying to be rude) and take matters into their own hands? Who at bungie, plays their game on a Daily to Weekly Basis and thoroughly knows what goes on in the game (and not community managers)?
jumped out at me. You give the impression that you think Deej and Cozmo are running the show in some way, or are filtering the forum's opinions, or that they're the only ones who play the game. From what I've read on the Bungie end, that's not correct. The developers do play the game, it's the only way to understand the game. On the other hand, they probably don't play it as much as you and I do, because they also have a job to do. If you do something for a living, it isn't as much fun as doing it for recreation. I enjoy driving, but if I had to do it 12 hours a day with a schedule of where to go and a time I had to be there, I know I would get tired of it and want a day when I didn't have to drive anywhere. Same with the devs and Destiny. On the other hand, I doubt that they ever read the forum in any great detail, and I can't blame them. 90-95% of the posts are complaints about how much they suck. Who wants to read that all day? But they also have the actual figures as to who is logging in every day and what percentage of people are posting on the forum, vs. how many are playing the game... and they're in a good position to judge whether this forum is a representative sample. (My guess, for the record, is that we're a very vocal minority.) Were I Bungie, I'd just say "The hell with it" and shut down the B.net Destiny forum altogether. Any announcements that had to be made could be sent as messages to the players' console accounts. I doubt they'd lose a single player, and they'd feel a lot better not having to read this forum.

          • I doubt they are allowed to talk with the community. They don't mind schmoozing with youtubers who will say nothing negative so they have a PR army for their game, but I'm sure Activision will not allow them to interact with the actual players.

            • There are no 'devs' working on destiny. It's just some interns who roll a dice which weapon or character stat to change to what amount. By this random process the game tries to emulate decissions made by real people. Why else would they come up with things like 'nerf fusion rifles' and 'Hunter grenade nerf'? This is all random. RNGesus rules suprem at Bungie or maybe some hundred monkeys are allowed to hack into the source code?

            • I'm ok with the devs, other then a couple that should be fired. It's the higher ups that are causing a lot of the problems in this game and knowing the cowards use their little minions to lie for them. Communication is something that needs to be established with them but this is Bungie were dealing with. A company that believes in going silent is the best policy. Their lack of even putting any effort in trying to attempt to have some kind of communication with the community is childish. These are suppose to be grown men that should know that your community is something you should have some kind of communication with. Cozmo has more balls then them and he is a one way conversation. Your community shouldn't of had to be asking for this for 2 years now and you just keep blowing it off. Yeah, I know what some of the community will say and use as a cop out as they usually do. Why would Bungie when the community is salty. Umm, do you think the community would be this far gone if Bungie showed that effort from the beginning? Do you think if Bungie didn't lie to their community things might be a lot better? Do you think if Bungie took some of what the community has suggested in the 2 years into consideration the community would be so salty? Do you think if Bungie actually showed respect to their community there would be so much salt? Communication is a 2 way conversation that people share their ideas with one another etc.. in hopes of coming up with a solution on any given situation. Is this to late to happen? No, but until Bungie comes out of the me me me and I I I. This community is always going to be set on the back burner. This app has no purpose other then us the community chatting amongst one another.

I was here during the Darkness. Sadly the game Bungie told people about is not the game they have currently. Most if not all of the former Halo/Destiny team has moved on. Some left for other jobs, others fired and others just took on new projects. Currently Bungie is barely able to keep up with the X-packs let alone make fixes or the like. I could have done the Beta but from what i seen the game needed more work. Reason why Bungie is unable to do much is simply they are tied down with bug fixes and working on PVP/PVE content that was established. As for Destiny it is a COD cash grab as i been saying for years. Its COD in space trying to be a Borderlands but not coming quite close. To put it bluntly it is lacking in some areas. What you are proposing is to sit down with for example a head chef and he ignores most of what you say as he is too tied up to find time for what you ask. Destiny was a far bigger in time resources and maintenance than expected. Not that they did not listen but hindsight is 20/20. Simply the old chefs are gone and new ones replaced the ones you liked. So they cannot reproduce the quality of the meal. It is not the great meal every one expected or was made out to be. In fact the Grand Re opening of the restaurant was on false pretenses. Meaning they did not prepare enough and now are overwhelmed. Since it is a Bigger Restaurant helping this one things get complicated. They were interested in the new dish Destiny. Sadly the quality was diluted due to rushing in the preparation of the recipe and ingredients. Then they decided to break up the meal into smaller parts but unlike a buffet you pay for each extra.(X-packs) Just Appetizers at first then rolling into what could be a five star meal turns into a three star meal. They keep you hungry for each dish as you never get what you want but it does have a few good points. So you hunger for more. Then more. That is what Destiny or what i call Lestiny as it is Less than the sum of what Destiny could have been. I still refused to purchase a copy. Did a Demo. Not something i am going to get an X-box one over. Just gonna go PC game as i have been doing for 2 years. Never looked back.

                    • See this is the very reason a "guardian council" is such a bunch of shite. Bungie has ignored each and every issue brought up by the community that puts them in a properly poor light. They are pathological in this behavior and always have been. Nothing is going to change that. The council is should be code named placebo.

You might wanna also add this: - Has the 10 year plan been reduced or compromised with how poor Bungie is doing with the management of the current content of Destiny? Cause so far this game is just a complete mess and has been nicknamed "Nerfstiny" by my buddies and I. We all know Bunghole is working on Nerfstiny 2 and just scrapping Nerfstiny thinking "Oh we f**ked up lets try again on a new game with another $ tag". That's what Bunghole comes off as to me and a lot of others.
