Alright, my name is Aztecross. I did my discussion of this last week and well the comments have been mixed based on my answer. So, here we go.

As I said in the comments, this video is BS. Shotgunning takes a little bit more skill than sniping now a days

2 RespuestasEasy answer, snipers take more skill if you want to be good. Look at people that can consistently quickscope, those are your good snipers. These are the people that see a shotgunner running at them and take their head right off. Obviously a sniper is a more versatile weapon and allows you to get kills from any distance, which makes it easier to rack up more kills with. That doesn't make it any easier to hit your shots though. The people that are good with shotguns can only shotgun, the majority of them at least. Sure their movement is good but if my movement is just as good then I am going to win the gunfight 9/10. Why? Because I can hit that close range body shot then finish you while maintaining enough distance that you can't one shot me. Even if a sniper takes less skill to use it takes more skill to be GREAT with. Nobody is calling someone that can only hard scope corners a good sniper, or someone that camps with a shotty a good shotgunner. But a top level sniper is more deadly than a top level shotgunner at almost any distances and their gun skill translates to their primaries in turn making them a better all around player.

1 RespuestaFusion rifles. End of discussion.
-
Shotguns; If I miss I can be killed. A sniper can shoot a leg twice and win.
-
Sniping is slightly more difficult but it's low risk, high reward. Shotguns are high risk, high reward.
-
That's like saying ''which takes more skill, skateboards or surfboards?"', they're two different play styles with even more variations based on the map/class being played. Plus when you throw in fusion rifles, look let's just say they all take a certain degree of skill to use.
-
Both, despite what people think if you can shotgun warrioring is actually pretty hard to do super sucessfully
-
I believe they both require skill to use and skill to evade. However I've been in lot of matches of late especially In trials where everyone just stands around trying to snipe each other and is ridiculously boring.
-
In higher levels of play, shotgunning is harder to kill with. However in trash pubs, a shotgun will net you kills faster than you can equip it.

4 RespuestasEditado por SoldierMedicTY: 6/26/2016 7:29:26 PMIMO...... The issue is not what takes more skill to be used effectively they both require a great deal of skill. The issue arises in when and where they are used. The nature of shotguns is a close range, high mobility type of weapon. So when you have multiple targets and smaller maps a shotgun will be better. The nature of a sniper is long range, low mobility weapon type. So fewer targets and longer maps lead to a sniper being better. Snipers say shotguns are op in matches like 6v6 control. Because there are too many opportunities for them to be rushed. Too many opponents, too many people that have to work together to make sniping effective. A sniper can still get kills but that's not the best situation for a sniper. Shotgunner say snipers are op in matches like trials. Because they lose more people to help push a camping sniper out of hiding and snipers have fewer targets and it's more controlled. IMO......your answer. Shotguns take more skill. Because even if you can close the distance you still have to deal with whatever primary they have equipped. If you lose to a primary and are a self proclaimed sniper, well you should lose for letting them get close. You failed as a sniper. You let them cross the map. Lastly a good sniper will beat a good shotgunner everytime. If they move when a player starts to close on them. The maps do not allow enough cover for a shotgunner to effectively and reliably close with a sniper. A sniper can see which direction they are coming from long before a shotgunner can get in range. Chafe should always be on when a sniper is equipped. Scan your sectors guardians. I know that is going to anger snipers. Sorry not sorry. Something has to balance the ohk from across the map. It would allow players to close distance with something across the map that can kill them. Snipers will have to rely on sniping skill and not the radar. As it is now snipers track you across the map and can reliably determine where you are going couple that with lack of available cover it creates an environment that is impossible to close. Lastly if u use a shotgun and camp a corner........
your doing it wrong
-
It's not really about what takes the most skill. It's more about the pros and cons of each and deciding what works best for your playstyle. Shotguns pros: easy kills within effective range Cons: difficult to get into effective range Sniper pros: OHK from any range Cons: more difficult to land shots and not very useful in close range.

6v6 shotguns are easier 3v3 skirmish and salvage shotguns are still easier but the gap closes a bit Trials snipers are easier, especially if you have to clutch.
-
The playstyle that using a shotgun extensively demands takes more skill than the one with a sniper.
-
Fusion rifles take skill

5 RespuestasIve been using nlb lately and it takes more skill to use than the universal remote.

Shotguns. A lot of people really struggle with using these effectively.

1 RespuestaEditado por nopenopenope: 6/26/2016 1:41:24 PMTo me, Shotguns. They are just hard to use.
-
1 RespuestaBoth take skill. Snipers: precise in order to get a headshot or "be a little bitch and just body shot everyone to get a kill"=no skill Shotguns: close ranged weapons requiring you to get close to you're opponents while using cover or obstacles to get closer to your foe. Missing can have a great consequence and probably won't survive the fight.

1 RespuestaHardscoping a choke point and waiting for someone to walk into your reticle takes no skill. Crouching in the corner and waiting for someone to walk by and shotgun them also takes no skill. They both can be used cheaply. I think a shotgunner with a 2.0 kd is more skilled than a sniper with a 2.0 kd imo

All depends on what the map caters for really , wrecking with a shotgun on larger open maps does take some real skill and map knowledge.
-
Shotguns require more map knowledge and movement. Snipers require more aim and gun skill, and if you're not a camper you have to know the right sight lines at the right time.
