How to maximize your 3oC
There has been a big dispute about where is the best place and how to do it. Use them in raids and pvp activities. Those are all great. But there is one spot that trumps them all.
Last Rites
Yes you do have to the entire mission every time and no, it's not a time saver, but it's a 3oC saver. If you don't believe, try it out.
Use 1 of your consumables at a time.
Make it all the way to the end and do damage to the Two Bosses, the centurion and ogre.
DO NOT KILL THEM
When you teleport out, they will be killed and have a chance for two drops with 1 go. It's been proven because I've died and spectate on that side while my friends get to the end of the mission and I see the yellow fall :)

But in the last 2 weeks no more exotic in 10+ "Last Rites"-runs but the 3oC were still consumed. This is in contrast to my earlier experiences when i got one exotic with about 2 to 3 "Last Rites"-runs. For me it seems, that bungie no more sends the exotic engrams from "Last Rites" to the postmater to fix the double chance (double drop rate) for the 3oC-usage. Have someone else the same experience with farming "Last Rites"?

3 RespuestasIf anyone is still active on this post I just did the vex garden mission (final mission for vanilla story) and the first boss dropped an exotic and the third one did as well. I have proof just gotta upload it and all that jazz if anyone cares. I didn't pick up either one, just let them go to the postmaster.

19 RespuestasOr you could just kill them yourself and get the same 3oC oppurtunity. Guys, this post is dumbness. If you want to maximize your 3oC oppurtunities, go to Cosmodrome on Patrol. Alternate between The Divide and Rocket Yard for Taken bosses and Skull Missions for Taken bosses.

I have to say. The one thing bungie has done well was to make the entirety of 3oC a secret other than it drops exotics

3 RespuestasI have more luck and better rewards using them in pvp. I usually get duplicate greaves or helmets in pve but I usually get primaries and specials in pvp. Last 3 I got was red death, hawkmoon, and mida.

4 RespuestasEasiest is just the Shrine of Oryx story mission - do it once and kill Sardok but don't destroy the shrine. Next time you resume story you've got about 7 minutes and 39 things to kill. Do it in amongst other stuff and you will be swamped with exotics!

10 RespuestasBEST 3oC method! Devs hate it!!! You'll need: Type AB- blood. An uncircumcised Jewish male born of a virgin. An original pez dispenser. One half eaten pickle!!! This method WORKS because I've tried it and I said so! I used 3,000 3oC and received 2500 exotics! Message me for the method! First to respond gets a blacksmith shader.

Best place I have found is patrol on the Dreadnought. .....not the Ultra in the locked room, but the Ultra at the end of the patrol mission with the Skull and Crossbones.....or any of those "Taken" patrol beacons on any planet, I just have better luck with the Dreadnought one.

3 RespuestasStart up kings of decay mission. Kill the taken ultra in the beginning. log out and choose the mission again after logging in. I got a total of 4 engrams in 1 hour.

Did 3 runs of CoE (9 boss fights with 3oC) and got 4 exotic engrams and a post-game HoW exotic That was a lucky week. Only 1 exotic per 3 runs this week

For anyone confused, this is the mission where you sneak through the Crota raid using Cayde's cloaking. I can't confirm whether OP's idea works or not, but his point is to damage the 2 ultras that spawn when Eris is about to teleport you to safety and end the mission. Since everything "dies" when you leave the instance, anything you damage counts as kills. (This is why when you kill a Prison of Elders boss with adds still alive, you only get points for the ones you've damaged when they disappear.) I'm assuming this will count towards the 3oC roll when they "disappear" and end up sending possible rewards to your postmaster.

Guy on Reddit did a TON of 3oCs. He tried waiting, he tried back to back. No matter what variation he used the results were the same; extremely random. Someone linked it on here awhile back. I don't think he was full of shit, didn't come off like that. It was the most comprehensive "test" of 3oCs i've seen. By far. Anecdotally, i noticed a decreased drop rate post april 12th and it seems not to matter if i wait or if i don't space them out at all.....But, i haven't done the work(who the fuk has time!) to get numbers like this guy did. I'm sure someone can find the original post
