Coming from the generation that explored the pixelated world of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom on DoS ...and even the chaotic fps mechanics in Quake 2 for Windows 98, I can honestly say that I love this game. From the lore to the detail on the walls of the various underground ruins, it's absolutely beautiful. And that skybox! I play Destiny even when I'm not on a mission...just to explore the environment.
I also like the diversity in the community. Aside from classes and sub-classes it's pretty easy to distinguish the raid guardians from the crucible guardians. There are lone wolves and there are full crews...and I've even had the pleasure of playing with some people that I could only describe as Legendary themselves.
The bottom line is, if you can get past the whole "rng didn't give me what I want" aspect of the game, you're left with a game that immerses you in a huge playing field full of awesome people and activities. (Yes, I understand that there are plenty of trolls and brats but I don't include them into my perception because...well, we aren't playing the same game.)
Keep up the good work Bungie crew.
EDIT: Please re-read the title of this thread before you comment. It says Destiny is ONE OF THE best games ever made. It does NOT...let me repeat..DOES NOT say Destiny IS the best game ever made.
Then again, if you can't even read the title properly then you probably wont see this...
EDIT 2: Alright folks, while it has been fun and I have seen two distinct sides to this opinion, I must retire.
For those of you who have expressed gratitude and enjoyment for this game, keep it up. You guys are the core of this community.
For those who have expressed disdain and dislike for this game, I hope you find something that brings you as much enjoyment as this game has brought to others.
Thanks everyone.

4 RespuestasDestiny was purposely made to be addictive (they hired psychologists), that's why it's lasted so long You are addicted
-
5 RespuestasReally? Is this b8? Literally there is hundreds of games that do every point you made better.

1 RespuestaSomething tells me you didn't play Destiny at launch. Even now it's still a shit show of a game, it's story still lacking any forward narrative.

Destiny is the greatest game ever made. And I won't be listening to any counter-opinions of anyone with more than a 50 hours logged. Actions do speak louder than words at the end of the day.

3 RespuestasWhen you slow down to appreciate the art, you love the game almost infinitely. Somethings I'll go into patrol with HUD disabled (it makes combat interesting too, not knowing what you have until you need it. It makes it feel so much more realistic.

2 RespuestasI really agree with this. Sometimes when I play I almost always find myself exploring the unseen world of Destiny with the hidden cracks that leads to marvelous places and such things. I find myself attracted to the gorgeous scenery and the immense detail and effort put into the design of the spectacular environment. Not to mention the gameplay, it's smooth and easy to grasp. I get through many all nighters on crucible or Nightfalls and such. The only thing I want to say is the lore is breath taking. It's so full in depth and answers many questions but at the same time leaves the readers thinking even deeper. What I wish is for all of the lore we read on the Destiny app to come to life in the main storyline in the game. Imagine learning about The Stranger through her own words and exploring the secrets of the Xûr and the Agents of the Nine or discovering the truth behind The Traveler with your very guardian, ghost, and companions. The endgame would be much more satisfying. I believe the Guardian has much more potential than what we've already unlocked. I believe the guardian's power can evolve into something even greater, we just need to travel beyond what we already know and dig deep into the depths of our galaxy.

9 RespuestasEditado por Stephen Blane: 5/29/2016 6:20:36 PMWith it's release it had horrendous server stability that would kick you out of your campaign even if you tried to play by yourself thanks to it being always online; It had a poor story with little to no narrative progression, repetitive mission layouts and poor AI. The multiplayer sorely needed variety with it's lack of choice and limiting it's different game modes to weekend or special events. Customization was laughable and any attempt to make your guardian unique was pointless as you needed specific gear to reach the highest light level to even attempt raids or the crucible. Then an expensive expansion that makes all of year 1 redundant came out and brought forth a wave of pay to progress mechanics and free updates that are made solely for the expansion. If you wanted to get a decent story out of Destiny you had to pay over $100 on it, unless you decided not to buy the game early on and just purchased an all in one bundle. You can enjoy Destiny as much as you like It may have been drastically improved thanks to it's DLC, for you it may be the best game you have ever played but it is not one of the best games ever made. To me Destiny is a showcase of everything that is wrong with triple A gaming; With it's dependence on pricey DLC to give the whole story and it's use of pay to progress mechanics through micro-transactions. The whole game is based on repetition and kept interesting through RNG. Destiny is very clever in it's way to keep people playing and coming back but it has brought nothing to make it worth being one of the best games ever, not even close.

1 RespuestaI had more fun with Quake 3 than Destiny...

1 RespuestaNah... is the "justin beiber" of video games. Everybody know it, everybody hates it.

2 RespuestasIf you felt on your head a younger age, yes. Destiny is no better than CoD, herpes of gaming.

8 RespuestasGoing to have to disagree. Saying Destiny is one of the best, implying a top 10 contender, just doesn't make any sense. The story is very bland with missions just ending up with you killing a few large groups of mobs while ghost acts incompetent. Also, the fact that you have to read grimoire to actually get any of the story, instead of being in the game, is a negative. Gunplay only feels good, to me at least, due to the very high aim assist this game seems to have. It feels that most of the time you don't really have to try at aiming, which puzzles me when people like high stability on weapons when the game takes a lot of the work out staying on target. RNG can't even be called okay, it's barely tolerable. Supers have been nerfed where you aren't really super at all. Pvp has issues with connections, hopefully actually addressed in Destiny 2 or whatever clever name they give it. Just need Sbmm for ranked playlists and cbmm for normal pvp. The planets aren't really good for exploring, they're just pathways to sections of mobs to clear. I could talk about Bungies own failings at this game or blaming the big bad Activision...I just don't have time to explain 🙄

Would rather play the shît game that will be infinite warfare than destiny.

It has the potential to be one of the best.

I hopped on it again after a few weeks on hiatus due to 'life things', and I had forgotten how much fun it was to play.
-
Not the best game ever. Definitely the one I've had the most fun in

3 RespuestasI need to play with more people like you, tired of others Any chance you play on 360?
-
4 RespuestasAs someone who's been playing since the mid 90s, Wolfenstein, Mortal Kombat, GTA1 and Goldeneye for example. I completely disagree. I even consider Destiny as one of the worst games this generation alongside games like Thief, Watch_Dogs, CoD AW and Homefront the Revolution.
