I myself am a liberal. However my extreme liberal friends at school are "disappointed" with me as I have changed my view on Islam as a whole.
Basically, I think it is disgusting to lump all Muslims as terrorists, but equally I find it absurd to deny that radical Islam exists. Personally, I think "Islamaphobia" is a ridiuclous term, as it is not irrational to fear something that kills infidels and homosexuals. Also, how is it irrational to fear the religion that is most associated with terrorism in the present?
I said Islam needs a reformation, and apparently I am narrow minded, racist, and a bigot. "unliberal" was another term used...

It's okay to hate an idea. And you don't seem to group the people together who believe in that idea, so it's not any unjust discrimination. So I would say not racist...
but Islam is a religion of peace, so you're a racist infidel who must die ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
2 RespuestasCriticising a religion is not being a racists lolol. It is not wrong for you to have an opinion on a religion, people constantly do it about other things. Show your friends the video above when they want to call you a bigot or racist
-
Just to clarify, are you a classical liberal or a modern liberal? If you answer modern, I shall suggest heavy amounts of bleach. That being said, Islam needs to be reformed or abolished and criticism is how we will begin the cycle.

No, it's not.

4 RespuestasEditado por Mattchya_420: 3/25/2016 5:18:54 AMThere's about 1,600,000,000 islamic people on earth, of which maybe 3,500,000 are radical. Christianity's "crusades" created a hell of a lot more terror (mind you, that was a 194 year period where popes had people running around killing an estimated 1.7 million people for not being god-like) and I believe that there is mich more than 3,500,000 radical Christians in the world. Just to put it in perspective:there's an estimated 1,200,000-1,500,000 active kkk members in america. If You're xenophobic in 2016 and haven't realized we're all just humans you need to wake up and start loving yourself more. "As above so below" is just as important as "what's inside is shown outside." -coming from a moderate Christian who's genuinely more afraid of what his religion and country is doing than what the islamic-predominant countries in the middle east are doing.

The only way to find out is to take this racist test.

Editado por ReignofSpartain: 3/25/2016 5:25:44 AMNobody denies that there are radicals only that you shouldn't punish the innocent for those who do bad under the same flag Any group/race/ideology and unification methods will have good and bad. Lumping them all together is wrong. It's natural to be biased towards things and the human body naturally finds patters. However generalizing based on visuals is bigotry. It's normal. ACTING on those things is a (sociology) termed racist bigot. That's the one that shouldn't exist but it does. While people have been attacking the religion we all know it applies visually (since you can't determine religion by sight) by extension will be applied to others (Hispanics for sure) FYI throughout history there is always a "enemy". Before it used to be "the japs" "them Chinese " "damn Germans" each has history of treatment like you see today (Chinese were actually banned for a while) but many historians as well as people impacted see this as a dark stain in history. Do you justify Japanese internment? I know the media likes to paint Isis as some global threat that will take over the world but if you think such a small underfunded region is somehow going to take over the world (let alone US) you are sorely mistaken
-
As long as you aren't blatantly harassing or disrespecting them sure
-
Nope. It's completely human to have your own thoughts and opinions even if it involves criticizing something. The goal is to try to become more than human and see past the flaws of others and your own flaws.
-
No, it's good to recognize that what's happening in regards to Islam is bad and needs to be stoped
-
Islam is not a race first off. Second, don't be scared of the religion, if your scared of anything be scared of terrorists. Second, many "Christians" have done radical things too(this is coming from a Christian). Finally, I Just realized I wrote "second" two times but I don't care.
-
Criticism is a good thing, unless it's directed at me.
-
First off Islam is not a race therefor you cannot be racist against it even if you hate it to its core. So if anyone says that to you they have no idea what they are talking about. Second Islam has not had a major reformation. Christianity has had two which did away with various violent and unchristian practices from old cultural traditions. This is why extremist christians are relatively tame compared to other extremist entities. Islam has had no unifying structure, like the catholic church, in which reforms can be made that would ultimately greatly reduce extremists. Islam has been in a perpetual state of war either internally or outwardly, most of which was through aggressive expansion against christians. (Jihads and loss of 40% of their territory over 300 years eventually led to the crusades as a response) Finally the biggest problem is the overall scale of the extremists. Very few will say that all of Islam is bad but if even a very small minority, lets say 10% believe and practice terror and sharia law that is several hundred million people. Imagine 50-60% of the total American population believing in beheadings and throwing gays off of buildings. So even if it is a minority it is an extremely large group of people that are a huge threat. Even 1% of the population fits in this category it is still well over 10 million people, thats larger than most of the worlds standing armies. So no it is not wrong to criticize Islam. There are many problems with it and right now they are fairly substantial and cannot be ignored. Personally i think the best way to reform Islam is to set up a regional hegemon with backing from the US and Europe. This hegemon will act as two primary things. A place for moderate muslims to gather and self govern, and a state that not only has military power to seek out extremists but religious authority of gathered leaders that can change outlooks and reform the religion from its violent tendencies. This would more than likely cause more stability in the middle east and muslims to directly confront their extremist brothers. War and crack downs would exist in the beginning but since they are fighting their own they may be more likely to either come to agreements over time or recognize the problems with current Islam and address the problems that caused the extremism in the first place.

No, it's not bigoted to question anything as long as is in a respectful manner.
-
As God, I applaud people when they stand up against liberal oppression.
-
Nothing is immune to question and constructive criticism, to believe that is to support stagnation and ignorance.
-
I'm a Muslim and I say go ahead. Don't listen to the PC idiots. You can criticize anything, as long as you're not blatantly disrespectful. Obviously if you're joking with someone you can be as nasty as you want, but in serious times, feel free to criticize, but you really don't need to say, "All Muslims are goat-fúcking terrorists!!!! Derka Derka," to a Muslim in a serious discusion. However, critisim of its morals and other things is fine if you are in any free place. (Obviously in places like Syria, the I.S will kill you)
-
Liberals can't be racist sooo
-
Freedom of speech. Say what you want
-
I wouldn't call it irrational. I consider myself liberal and pretty much hate islam.

3 RespuestasNope dont listen to the braindead liberals. They are leading humanity to the point of no return all in the name of political correctedness Now I guess Americans need to allow the US to be flooded with illegals or we are racist Europe must allow its countries to be flooded with illegal africans and muslims or else they are racist Bye bye Europe and the US! Which basically means bye bye civilized humanity. The US will be one big shit extension of Mexico and Europe will be some dangerous Africa/Muslim hell hole
-
2 RespuestasThe big question is this. Do you criticize the adherents of the religion, or criticize the religion itself?

Editado por ANGRY ASIAN 500: 3/24/2016 9:41:04 PMNot so long as you educate yourself on the subject.
-
Hey man at least you are smart enough to realize a problem when you see it. If anything your friends are the irrational ones, ignoring an ideology that revolves around the idea of slaughtering those who dont follow it is pretty ignorant and weak if you ask me.
-
Well Islam is the one of the major world religions without a major reformation of some kind.
