Cayde carried the girl out of the cave, setting her upright at the base of a nearby tree. He tried his best to find a wound or point of impact, but there didn't seem to be any. The girl looked very young, too young for a death of natural causes. Perhaps she was ill? Ghost couldn't scan any more indepth. The best choice of action would be Ikora or Eris in the tower; but the girl's last words were on his mind. "Ghost," Cayde inquired, "Are there any standard bounties for The City. - Skip the regulars, head right on to local government, patrol force. Anything stolen or otherwise labeled unfavorables?" "I wouldn't have access to local data, however, I haven't heard anything in the Tower about any fugitives from The City. You'd think that would be a sensitive topic, among others." Cayde looked around, probably hoping for luck to fall from the trees. "You're right. 'Attractive, young girl missing from The City. Drapped in stolen hardware and possibly insane.' That's a headline a lot of people wouldn't miss." "So what are you going to do with her?" Cayde paused. Logically, his best bet (for himself as well as the girl) would be to take her directly to Ikora. If she didn't have ideas, then Eris. If all else failed, The Speaker could, at the least, relocate her to a City Family. However, attempting to rush an unconscious girl to the tower via sparrow would be dangerous. And carrying her would draw attention, while taking far too long in the process. "This is going to be so embarrassing. It's like I'm a spoiled kid who tries to leave home, only turning around at the end of the dock. *sigh* Call back the ship, Ghost. We're heading back." Ghost gave a whir, and began to send signals for Cayde's ship, but once again, the girl decided to find consciousness at the most opportune time. "...Stop! ... Please, help me..." Her voice was so soft, as if shouting from a faraway land, but unheard. Her eyes remained closed, and speaking seemed too difficult. "You know; if I wasn't such a Pirate myself, I'd say you were faking it." Cayde materialized his hand cannon, and let it hang at his side. The girl did not reply. "Playing the helpless act will only get you so far. My day would be so much more interesting if you'd just spring your attack already. Don't worry about hurting me." The girl coughed, and began to wheeze as if choking on her own breath. "Cayde!" Ghost shouted. "Fine. Fine! Nobody likes a good joke. - Kid, you need to tell me what's wrong. I can't help you if you don't communicate with me. You know words, right? - - - Of course you do, use some of them, please." "...Water...Food..." She was starving to death. "Well I could have seen that coming. Ghost, do we have anything?" "Technically, you don't requ-" "-Right. No, that does pose an issue. The ship has to have reserves. You know, for all the friends I don't bring along for my sight-seeing escapades. *sigh* Continue the signal." Ghost returned to summoning the ship. A few moments later, it came jetting from orbit, hovering close by near some of the trees. Cayde picked up the girl, and Ghost teleported them into the hull. Cayde gently put her down on the medical bed near the back of the ship. Ghost began setting co-ordinates for standby flight. In one of the cabinets behind the cockpit, there were a few bottles of water, and sealed ration packages. "I'm not exactly the fatherly-type. I'm not going to feed you. If you want this, you're going to have to work for it. I don't know who you are, but if I'm aiding the enemy, I'm going to at least make you earn my betrayal." "...Cayde..." Ghost was not impressed. "Oh come on. Why is EVERYONE always so up tight around here. If you're going -" Cayde was cut off. Eyes still closed, the girl whipped her arm forward, and snatched the waterbottle from Cayde. With her other hand trembling, she attempted to open the lid, but failed over and over. Her face grimaced, pain across her cheeks. It was obviously bothering her. Eventually, she dropped the bottle entirely, and a lone tear rolled down her face. "...*sigh* Fine, I'll open it for you, but that's it. Normally, if you were a Hunter, we'd be solid. But you've got all kinds of odd crap on you, I have no idea who you are. Context, you know." He picked up the bottle, opened it, and handed it back to the girl. She took a small breath, and tried to drink, but the water simply splashed out of the opening and landed on her face. She tried to raise her head, but merely smashed the end of the bottle against her nose, and began to choke. "For the love of! - You've got to be the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. - Ghost, you take care of - ... - Ghost?! Hey!" Ghost was in the cockpit, seemingly ignoring Cayde. "Don't pawn this kid off on me. You know I don't do this stuff." "You don't have to be anything or anyone to take care of someone, Cayde. You just need to be human. I doubt you're trying to tell me you've gone so far as-" "Oh just shut it. Honestly, I always have to do everything." With much disdain, Cayde raised the girl upright, and sat down behind her. He placed her back against his chest, and took the water bottle from her hand. She began to breath, and stop choking. Very oddly, he raised the water bottle to her lips, and tilted it forward. She took a very small gulp, and coughed it all back out. "Okay! - Okay. Seriously, she's going to die either way. Might as well put her out of her misery." Ghost did not reply. "What? You got nothing?" Ghost floated onto the dash, and seemingly went into standby. "Oh what the hell. *sigh* I hope you like bonding with Homicidal Robots, lady." Little by little, Cayde nursed the girl with water. Eventually, she was able to drink the other half of the bottle. When she finished, he set it down, and pulled her matted hair out of her face... *FORCED ENDING, P2 COMING IMMEDIATELY!!* The Last City Chronicles : Master Page
