It's not silly at all. You have to grind bosses and dailies for phoenix credits to buy the best gear. To re-roll the stats on that gear, you have to use phoenix credits. The endgame is all about grinding for phoenix credits.

At least you can work towards the stuff you want. In Destiny you keep banging your head against the wall until you happen to et the drop you want at the light level you want. They even took strange coins out as a reward for the weeklies and nerfed weapon parts for no good reason. Y2 has been all about dragging the grind out as much as possible. Compared to Destiny, it feels like the rewards are constantly showered on you in The Division.

If you want to call it grinding I look at it as jumping into the dz to earn them but at the same time fighting off rogues and bell ends who try and turn you rogue. Yeah it's grinding but not a boring grind like destiny
