PvP killed Destiny.

Only PvP players cried for NERFS. You have never heard anyone that plays PVE on the forums complaining about anything other than lack of content. Armor, weapons and exotics have all been nerfed because some whiny ass PvP douche was in here screaming about being killed by a weapon. Eff PvP and eff all you crybaby nerfherders!!! GTFO!!! Destiny would be better without you. Edit 1- the Vex Mythoclast, TLW, Hawkmoon, Thorn, Blackhammer, Suros regime, pulse rifles, Lord of Wolves, Invective, Shot package, Fusion rifles, nothing manacles, aclyophage symbiote, the RAM, Sunbreaker, and arcblade have all died because of you. Edit 2- I almost forgot the greatest weapon of all, GJALLERHORN. You killed Gally. Are you dicks ashamed yet? Edit 2.1- I stand corrected on the Gally nerf. Edit 3- You PvP dingleberries seem quite content running around in circles, killing each other with whatever weapons haven't been nerfed yet (mida, 1kys, DoP), the come here and cry "Billy's weapon too OP, BUNGLE please nerf". Edit 4- When actual balance comes to town (SBMM) you cry because " It's too hard. PvP isn't fun anymore cause I always have to play people as good as me and i don't get to crush noobs. "Crucible too sweaty, BUNGLE PLS NERF. Waaaaaaahhhhhh. Effing loser d-bags. Edit 4.1- SBMM was nerfed because the Elitist Streamers/YouTubers demanded it. Their KD's were dropping and they weren't earning top medals anymore so under the guise of "redbars everywhere" and half hour wait times, they got their way. Bullshit. Edit 5- It's a well known FACT that BUNGLE has been devoting a significant portion of its resources to "balancing" PvP. Had those resources been dedicated to PVE, we would likely have new content by now. How many PvP based patches and garbage PvP events have we had in the past 6 months? Iron Banner (grindfest) Sparrow racing (sparriocart) Crimson doubles Bye.

  • I only play pvp and agree with you. This game has way too many whining little bitches that play pvp and think that it could ever be balanced.

  • Was listening to a pod cast on ign and they were saying pvp is what gives each franchise it's legs, why its thrown into almost any game and there are so few non co-op or multiplayer games. So appears to be the business model!!! Which sucks cause I suck at pvp I like pvp but omg pvp people whine so much. I mean if you get killed by anything it's op never skill drives me insane. Then they say well it's unbalanced and everybody uses a crutch yadda yadda and it's not competitive but full of "sweat and try hards" Which is a paradox since the sweaty matches are when everybody is doing everything to win thus competitive !!

  • Thorn, TLW and vex where clearly op and these weapons broke the crucible. Gjallahorn, ice breaker, black hammer where nerved because of PvE exploits, not pvp. Bungie is also to blame for listening to wrong people and making bad balance decisions.

      • To be fair a lot of those weapons did need rebalancing, sometimes this means buffs, other times nerfs. The 'PvP whiner crying for nerfs' is a strawman. Don't blame PvP players, when it was Bungie who mishandled the changes.

Most of the weapons and subclasses stated were only good in PvP, like last word and thorn. Thorn got buffed in pve if anything

        • I agree with you on 85% of What you say but PvP is not the only reason. Bungie should've known as well as us that including PvP and pve balances together would be a mistake. At the very least they should have made weapons buffed to compete with the op ones rather than nerf the weapons.

Taking field scout away from everyone and every gun purely because of PvP snipers rocking a six round high impact sniper is fuking bullshit! Why couldn't they code a program that nullifies field scout when entering crucible instead of limiting the already limited perk pool for everyone the whole game over?! This is my only serious issue with the game, PvP effecting and limiting PvE.

            • Nobody in pvp complained about black hammer, the last word and thorn are still very strong, and pvp is the reason that the few who stayed eith destiny haven't left yet.

              • Bungie's no dedication to their servers I believe is the true culprit. If they did cater to the pvp players they could at least make it a good experience...

              • I think the issue with PVP and what's causing players to lose interest is the lack of variety. When you feel like playing PVP you can't play some game-types as they are locked away until weekends or special events. I haven't played in a long time but when I did the only way you can play game-types with armour and weapon ratings having a meaningful impact is for Iron banner which is a limited event. For me PVP was a huge letdown because of it's lack of variety. Every game mode is Multi-king-of-the-hill or slayer/team slayer. Salvage was at least different but again only unlocked when Bungie decided so which meant if you worked through the weekend then that's too bad. The events you mentioned only has one unique game mode and that's Sparrow racing. Iron banner and crimson doubles are almost exactly the same as normal game-modes but provide better rewards. Destiny has been out since 2014 and the lack of choice in multiplayer is shocking. In regards to PVP nerfing I doubt it takes that much time since it's just damage values and fire rates and it's probably done like so: Large volume of players complain on forums about weapon. Bungie check how often this weapon is used compared to other weapons. Bungie Notice majority of players using said weapon as main weapon. Bungie Nerf weapon to allow better variety. I'm not part of Bungie's development team so I wouldn't know but this would seem the most reasonable decision Bungie would take when changing a weapons stats since those who complain on the forums and even the forums itself is the minority compared to the player base in-game that don't bother going on the forums. Meaningful content isn't something that I feel will ever come to Destiny (At least not for free). For me it's been a disaster from the start and even during development there were signs of trouble. I used to be a dedicated fan of Bungie, I still have hope they will make something great, but Destiny was an utter disappointment on multiple levels when released and the shear lack of content/variety for PVP makes it all the worse. I can't speak for any DLC since I own none as I felt I didn't receive my money's worth on the base game to justify spending more money on DLC that could have also been a massive disappointment (Pretty much was since they made year 1 irrelevant). I think OP that the only PVE content for Destiny is going to be in Destiny 2 once you fork out another $60 and perhaps another $80 in DLC for more story. If you don't they will probably make everything pre-DLC useless so you are forced to buy each new DLC pack.

              • I'm sure people already said this but ghorn black hammer and ice breaker were all pve nerfs. Along with elemental primaries and orb generation on supers. Also I highly doubt people complaining about guns cause the nerfs but rather people overusing guns and subclasses.

              • I must agree, PvP has really hurt PvE longevity by nerfing cool gear, and needlessly lengthening repetitive Raids. However, PvE killed Ghorn, not PvP. PvE players were viciously excluding players from Raid that didn't have this weapon. More than anything though, generally crappy new gear (read HoW), no new content, poor Raid weapons (read TTK) and low drop rates are really killing Destiny. One can also argue that PvP, particularly Trials, Iron Banner and PvP tournaments , is the only thing currently keeping Destiny alive.

                • I agree with everything OP said. All the best weapons in the game turned to trash. What the hell is wrong with people b*tching about SBMM. Crucible is fun when the matches end 20,000 to 19,990. When the teams are so evenly matched that it comes down to the last kill. Not when you're going up against new players and stomping them out or vice versa.

                  • That's a bit melodramatic OP. What killed Destiny more accurately was the fact that; A) PvP and PvE was not separated from the get-go so that changes from one did not effect the other mode B) Lack of communication from the devs (in all it's various forms, plus any clear direction for fans to follow), C) Dearth of content from the get-go for PvE or its follow-up DLC's, (not sure what PvP wanted, but I'm sure they wanted stuff that wasn't/isn't there). Those are the 3 primary reasons I can come up with. I'm certain others can/have mentioned others in addition in a rational manner and without pejorative adjectives.

                    • SBMM on paper is a great idea, but if you're matched vs decent players on the other side of the world then connections suffer. CBMM means you should get better quality connections, but the player skill won't be matched. They need to work out how to adjust the MM to take both these aspects into account. The other issue though is the population is dropping which means again you could get matched with people all other the place.
